Widget UI for providing Web Service in IPTV (IPTV 에서 효율적인 웹 서비스 제공을 위한 Widget UI)

  • 오늘날 기술 경쟁이 심화되면서 업체간 기술 격차는 큰 차이를 보이지 않고 있다. 그래서 각 기업들은 자사 제품의 경쟁력 확보를 위해 다양한 분야를 연구하게 되었고, 그 결과 소비자들에게 높은 기술력을 제공하는 것보다는 새로운 경험을 제공하는 것에 대한 중요성이 점점 부각되어 가고 있다. 그래서 본 논문에서는 PC 에서 웹 서비스(Web-Service)를 사용하는 사용자의 경험을 IPTV 에서도 경험할 수 있는 방법에 대해 연구하였고, 그 중 사용자들이 좀더 편리하고 쉽게 웹을 경험할 수 있는 Widget UI를 제안한다. 우리가 제안하는 IPTV 에서 웹 서비스를 제공하는 Widget UI 는 서로 독립적인 Widget 서비스들로 구성되어 있으며, Widget 서비스의 개수와 배치는 사용자에 따라 다르게 제공된다. 즉, 우리는 IPTV 를 위한 사용자 맞춤형 웹 서비스 제공 Widget 사용자 인터페이스를 제안한다. 또한 각 Widget 서비스의 정보 검색은 리모컨의 4 방향 키를 사용하도록 제공함으로써 사용자에게 사용의 편리성을 증대시키고 학습 피로를 감소시킬 수 있다. 이러한 학습 편의성과 사용 편리성을 사용자에게 제공함으로써 기존에 IPTV 에서 사용하기 힘들었던 웹 서비스의 사용성을 크게 향상 시키는 효과를 기대할 수 있다. 우리는 이러한 Widget UI 의 사용성을 객관적으로 평가하기 위해 UI 전문가들을 대상으로 전문가 평가를 실시하였으며, 결과 비교를 위해 다른 웹 서비스 제공 UI 들도 추가적으로 전문가 평가를 실시하였다. 전문가 평가 결과 본 논문에서 제안한 Widget UI 가 타 UI 들에 비해 높은 사용성 평가를 기록하였으며, 이 결과는 결국 우리가 제안한 Widget UI 가 IPTV 에서 웹 서비스 정보를 제공하는데 있어 효율적이고 적합한 방식임을 보여준다.

  • A Widget platform is acknowledged to be a next generation intelligent platform that is well suited to Web 2.0 and mobile convergence environments. With prospects of growth, examining users' perceptions of current widgets can be a valuable source of information in setting directions for Widget's future development. This study identifies user interface factors that affect widget usability and investigates a strategic approach to promoting the use of widgets by analyzing user's "intention to use" in connection with the identified interface factors. The experimental results show the consistency, intuition, minimal action, and personalization have a positive(+) effect on perceived ease of use and that personalization and design have a causal effect on perceived enjoyment. Inaddition, perceived ease of use has an influence on perceived enjoyment that, inturn, has a direct influence on intention to use. On the other hand, the hypothesis that perceived ease of use has a direct effect on intention to use was rejected.

A Study of Factors Affecting Mobile Widget-based Personalized Services (모바일 위젯기반 개인화 서비스의 영향 요인에 관한 연구)

  • As digital convergence and mobile services evolve, personalization becomes one of the most important factors attracting customers. Personalization means functions offering individually customized services with relevant contents using information on individual preferences. This sort of personalized services has attracted great attention of a large part of online firms. One of representative services of such personalized services is a mobile widget service. In this study, we identified seven antecedents affecting the quality of personalized mobile widget services and empirically investigated which antecedent has a significant effect of the quality of personalized mobile widget services. In addition we carried out empirical investigation into the effect of the quality of personalized mobile widget service on user satisfaction and trust. As a result of this research, we revealed that seven variables including information services affected components of personalized services, and usefulness and perceived benefit as components of personalized services affected user trust and satisfaction for personalized services.

  • 방송컨텐츠 중심의 TV에 인터넷이 연결되면서, 사용자의 TV 사용 패턴의 변화를 가져오게 되었다. 다양한 웹상의 컨텐츠를 TV를 통하여 사용할 수 있는 환경이 되면서, 방송이나 멀티미디어를 위한 기존의 Embeded SW와는 다른 형태의 Application의 필요성이 대두되었고, Widget이 하나의 방식으로 활용되고 있다. 본 세션에서는 주요 업체의 Widget 활용 현황 및 TV에 Widget이 적용되었을 때 소비자는 어떤 서비스를 원하는지에 대해 다루어 보고자 한다.

An Effective Employment and Execution Performance Improvement Method of Mobile Web Widget Resources Based on the OMTP BONDI (OMTP BONDI 기반 모바일 웹 위젯 리소스의 효율적 운용 및 구동 성능 개선 기법 연구)

  • OMTP (Open Mobile Terminal Platform) is a global forum made by telecommunications providers to promote user-oriented mobile services and data business. Devised by OMTP, BONDI is a browser-based application or a mobile web run-time platform to help widgets make good use of functions of mobile devices in a secure way. BONDI enables applications programmed with web standard technologies such as HTML, JavaScript, CSS, and AJAX to reach the internal functions of mobile devices. Since BONDI, which is not just a simple network application, can reach the internal resources of devices in standard ways, it enables the application and widgets to be developed regardless of tile OS or platform. Web browser-based widgets are vulnerable to the network environment, and their exeeution speed can be slowed as the operations of the widgets or applications become heavy. However, those web widgets will be continuously used thanks to the user-friendly simple interface and the faster speed in using web resources more than the native widgets inside the device. This study suggested a method to effectively operate and manage the resource of OMTP BONDI web widget and then provided an improved result based on a running performance evaluation experiment. The experiment was carried to improve the entire operating time by enhancing the module-loading speed. In this regard, only indispensable modules were allowed to be loaded while the BONDI widget was underway. For the purpose, the widget resource list, able to make the operating speed of the BONDI widget faster, was redefined while a widget cache was employed. In addition, the widget box, a management tool for removed widgets, was devised to store temporarily idle widgets.

  • Smart TV, Internet content and interactive services are available, the operating system to mount the Web, App Store, you can enjoy a variety of content. Smart TV market, TV replacement cycle is long, watching for changes in the way copyright issues such as adaptation period and, unlike the case of a smart phone TV market in the short term are expected to occupy will not find, if IPTV, satellite, cable and real-time TV platform for broadcasters to adopt a smart, smart TV market could spread more quickly than expected. In particular the advantages of the widget can be implemented to meet the needs of the users, because users to more efficiently and meet their desired widget. Usability Test of Interface for Web Widget Using Work-Flow based on Mouse Tracking (마우스 트래킹 기반 작업흐름도를 이용한 웹 Widget 인터페이스 사용성 평가)

  • The use of web widgets on desktop and mobile devices has been increasing rapidly. Web widgets provide access to activities and information from various sources across the web. As the number of supported widgets increases, managing widgets and finding relevant or interesting widgets becomes more complex. In addition, interacting with widgets in web service systems can be difficult, especially for novice users. Up to this point, there has been little research on web widget usability. This paper performs an experimental study regarding user interfaces of web widgets based on the mouse tracking and work-flow analysis. In the experiment, four sites providing widget services are chosen - iGoogle, Netvibes, My yahoo, and Wizard. The experiment participants perform three assigned tasks in the chosen sites, and their mouse operations are recorded using Camtasia, a screen casting software. Mouse tracking analysis is performed based on the recorded data in order to analyze common user behaviors. In addition, work-flow diagrams representing the operational flows to carry out the given tasks in each web site are constructed so as to visually and systematically analyze detailed usage patterns. The experimental study results presented in this paper can contribute to developing guidelines for highly usable and accessible interface design of web widgets.

A Manually Captured and Modified Phone Screen Image Dataset for Widget Classification on CNNs

  • The applications and user interfaces (UIs) of smart mobile devices are constantly diversifying. For example, deep learning can be an innovative solution to classify widgets in screen images for increasing convenience. To this end, the present research leverages captured images and the ReDraw dataset to write deep learning datasets for image classification purposes. First, as the validation for datasets using ResNet50 and EfficientNet, the experiments show that the dataset composed in this study is helpful for classification according to a widget's functionality. An implementation for widget detection and classification on RetinaNet and EfficientNet is then executed. Finally, the research suggests the Widg-C and Widg-D datasets-a deep learning dataset for identifying the widgets of smart devices-and implementing them for use with representative convolutional neural network models.

  • Widgets are the instrument for representing user's character and embossing the value of blogs. The compound word of the Windows and Gadget the application, widgets are the functional program to displayed on the screen graphical user interface (GUI) tools as a kind of service that user want to see. On the operating system, the Web, and mobile area, widgets offer the delivery of information, convenience and efficiency. However widgets have been never gave satisfaction to user because it focused transmitting information and representing circumstance than fun. This study is for recognized fun elements that user feel interest and categorized fun elements each type of widgets. Fun elements of widget never been defined, we use fun elements on design and product area and emotional word that is representative of affectivity. And we make up an online questionnaire to blog users. The widget selected by popular degree among the domestic widgets and the Japanese widget. And the results of the questionnaire that 5-scales used based on user preferences to identify the elements that are fun.

Chatbot and Slide Widget-based Classroom Response System to Promote Classroom Participation (수업 참여 활성화를 위한 챗봇과 슬라이드 위젯 기반 교실응답시스템)

  • Classroom response systems (CRS) have been proven to have positive educational effects on student engagement and participation by allowing immediate feedback to both students and instructors. We explore the use of a chatbot and slide widget-based CRS to overcome some of the challenges of existing mobile-based CRSs while retaining their advantages. Our system uses widely available instant messaging services and operates web-based slide widgets that can be seamlessly integrated into instructors' slides to visualize student feedback in various formats. The student survey results indicate that our system is as effective as conventional CRSs in promoting student engagement and participation.
