Objective: The aim of this study is to review and summarize human vibration measurement process, and necessity and methods of frequency weightings for human vibration. Background: Prolonged human exposure to hand-arm vibration and whole-body vibration can result in a range of adverse conditions and the development of occupational diseases such as vibration white finger. For preventing these adverse effects, it is important to correctly apply human vibration measurement process. Method: This manuscript was based on the review and summary of mechanical and human vibration relevant texts, academic papers, materials obtained through web surfing. Results: This manuscript summarizes human vibration measurement process described in ISO standards and relevant texts. The sensitivity of the human body to mechanical vibration is known to be dependent on both the frequency and direction of vibration. To take this into account, varying frequency weighting functions have been developed, and RMS frequency-weighted accelerations are used as the most important quantity to evaluate the effects of vibration on health. ISO provided nine frequency weighting functions in the form of curves and tables. Researches on frequency weightings are focused on development and validation of new frequency weightings to truly reflect the relationship between vibration exposure and its adverse effects. Application: This would be useful information for systematically applying human vibration measurement and analysis process, and for selecting appropriate frequency weighting functions.

OFDM system has high PAPR(Peak-to-Average-Power Ratio) problem. In this paper, we present a low complexity phase weighting method to reduce the computational quantity so that we can cut down the processing time of SPW method. Proposed method is derived from the DFT property of periodical sequences by which PAPR can be reduced efficiently. The simulation results show the same PAPR reduction efficiency of proposed method in comparison with conventional methods. It can reduce 2.15 dB of PAPR with two phase factors and 3.95 dB of PAPR with four phase factors. The computation analysis shows significant improvement in the low complexity phase weighting method.

In this study, the preliminary risk assessment for the underground storage tanks(UST) in Chunchon city was implemented using the geographical information system(GIS). The estimation variables, such as the installation year, storage capacity, the distances from streams, and from groundwater pumping wells, were selected to estimate the relative risk levels. The weighting factors were given to all the estimation variables. Cumulative scores were induced by the combination of all the scores of the corresponding variables using the buffering technique and the overlay analysis in ArcView. Using the these process, the relative risk level of each UST was estimated. Some sites in this study are simplified and reduced because the number of useable data are limited or too enormous. Thus the selection of the comprehensive estimation variables and the proper weighting values are required for the future study. The methodology in this study could be served not only for the preliminary risk assessment of UST but also for the selection of the proper location of new and old UST. And, it can be used for the effective management system of UST.
Mood classification of blog text is an interesting problem, with a potential for a variety of services involving the Web. This paper introduces an approach to mood classification enhancements through the normalized negation n-grams which contain mood clues and corpus-specific term weighting(CSTW). We've done experiments on blog texts with two different classification methods: Enhanced Mood Flow Analysis(EMFA) and Support Vector Machine based Mood Classification(SVMMC). It proves that the normalized negation n-gram method is quite effective in dealing with negations and gave gradual improvements in mood classification with EMF A. From the selection of CSTW, we noticed that the appropriate weighting scheme is important for supporting adequate levels of mood classification performance because it outperforms the result of TF*IDF and TF.

The main objective of this study is to develop a multi-objective fuzzy optimum design program of steel structures and to verify that the multi-objective fuzzy optimum design is more reasonable than the single objective optimum design in real structural design. In the optimization formulation, the objective functions are both total weight and deflection. The design constraints are derived from the ultimate strength of service ability requirement of AISC-LRFD specification. The structural analysis was performed by the finite element method and also considered geometric non-linearity. The different importance of optimum criteria were reflected with two weighting methods ; membership weighting method and objective weighting method. Thus, designers could choose rational optimum solution of structures with application of two weighting methods.

In this paper, we present a GA(Genetic Algorithm) approach to select weighting matrices of an optimal LQ(Linear Quadratic) controller for SVC(Static VAR Compensator). A SVC, one of the FACTS(Flexible AC Transmission System), constructed by a FC(Fixed Capacitor) and a TCR(Thyristor Controlled Reactor), was designed and implemented to improve the damping of a synchronous generator, as well as to control the system voltage Also, a design of LQ controller depends on choosing weighting matrices. The selection of weighting matrices which is not a trivial solution is usually carried out by trial and error. We proposed an efficient method using GA of finding weighting matrices for optimal control law. Thus, we proved the usefulness of proposed method to improve the stability of single machine-infinite bus with SVC system by eigenvalues analysis and simulation.
In the information retrieval system, document clustering technique is to provide user convenience and visual effects by rearranging documents according to the specific topics from the retrieved ones. In this paper, we clustered documents using K-Means algorithm and present the effect of index terms weighting scheme on the document clustering. To verify the experiment, we applied Latent Semantic Indexing approach to illustrate the clustering results and analyzed the clustering results in 2-dimensional space. Experimental results showed that in case of applying local weighting, global weighting and normalization factor, the density of clustering is higher than those of similar or same weighting schemes in 2-dimensional space. Especially, the logarithm of local and global weighting is noticeable.
Recently, shape analysis of human organs has achieved much attention, owing to its potential to localize structural abnormalities. For a group-wise shape analysis, it is important to accurately restore the shape of a target structure in each subject and to build the inter-subject shape correspondences. To accomplish this, we propose a shape modeling method based on the Laplacian deformation framework. We deform a template model of a target structure in the segmented images while restoring subject-specific shape features by using Laplacian surface representation. In order to build the inter-subject shape correspondences, we implemented the progressive weighting scheme for adaptively controlling the rigidity parameter of the deformable model. This weighting scheme helps to preserve the relative distance between each point in the template model as much as possible during model deformation. This area-preserving deformation allows each point of the template model to be located at an anatomically consistent position in the target structure. Another advantage of our method is its application to human organs of non-spherical topology. We present the experiments for evaluating the robustness of shape modeling against large variations in shape and size with the synthetic sets of the second cervical vertebrae (C2), which has a complex shape with holes.

Since the amount of information on the internet is growing rapidly, it is not easy for a user to find relevant information for his/her query. To tackle this issue, the researchers are paying much attention to Document Summarization. The key point in any successful document summarizer is a good document representation. The traditional approaches based on word overlapping mostly fail to produce that kind of representation. Word embedding has shown good performance allowing words to match on a semantic level. Naively concatenating word embeddings makes common words dominant which in turn diminish the representation quality. In this paper, we employ word embeddings to improve the weighting schemes for calculating the Latent Semantic Analysis input matrix. Two embedding-based weighting schemes are proposed and then combined to calculate the values of this matrix. They are modified versions of the augment weight and the entropy frequency that combine the strength of traditional weighting schemes and word embedding. The proposed approach is evaluated on three English datasets, DUC 2002, DUC 2004 and Multilingual 2015 Single-document Summarization. Experimental results on the three datasets show that the proposed model achieved competitive performance compared to the state-of-the-art leading to a conclusion that it provides a better document representation and a better document summary as a result.
It is usual to prioritize the blocks to rearrange residential environment by the responsible officer's intuition or a few specialist's experienced knowledge. The aim of this research was to evaluate rebuilding priority in the context of spatially weighted framework integrating resident's view. The spatial weighting for the variables related to evaluation of dwelling environment was derived from AHP (Analytic Hierarchy Process) approach through the analysis of resident's view. An empirical study for a case study site has been conducted to confirm the validity for the spatial weighting. The spatial weighting has frequently influenced in changing the rebuilding priority and was identified as the important predictor for the improvement sites of dwelling environment. The spatially weighted analysis made it possible to identify area-wide patterns of rebuilding priority area subject to many different type of thematic variables, which cannot be acquired by traditional field sampling. The spatially weighting derived by integrating various formats of spatial data into a comprehensive GIS database in particular, was ideally suited to displaying the objective distribution patterns for rebuilding priority. The result of this study would play a crucial role in dealing with public complaints for rebuilding priority since it could provide objective evidences in accordance with spatial weighting.
