  • This study is intended to suggest a more reasonable and practical method of estimating discount & capitalization rate for valuation of closely-held culture content business, that is, to modify the Buildup Summation Model(which is recommended for the closely-held business by the NACVA) by adopting the weighted ratings in the CT Project Investment Evaluation of the Korea Culture Contents Association to risk factors of the Buildup Summation Model. This method is ease to apply for closely-held culture content business and has advantages in applying the weighted rates based on the characteristics of respective culture contents. And it can make up for the Weighted Average Cost of Capital (WACC) which shows generally low discount rates.

  • Software failure time presented in the literature exhibit either constant, monotonic increasing or monotonic decreasing. For data analysis of software reliability model, data scale tools of trend analysis are developed. The methods of trend analysis are arithmetic mean test and Laplace trend test. Trend analysis only offer information of outline content. In this paper, we discuss exponentially weighted moving average chart, in measuring failure time. In control, exponentially weighted moving average chart's uses are efficiency case of analysis with knowing information, Using real software failure time, we are proposed to use exponentially weighted moving average chart and comparative analysis of software failure time.

  • The main objective of this paper is to study the dynamic load allowance (DLA) calculation methods for bridges according to the dynamic response curve. A simply-supported concrete bridge with a smooth road surface was taken as an example. A half-vehicle model was employed to calculate the dynamic response of deflection and bending moment in the mid-span section under different vehicle speeds using the vehicle-bridge coupling method. Firstly, DLAs from the conventional methods and code provisions were analyzed and critically evaluated. Then, two improved computing approaches for DLA were proposed. In the first approach, the maximum dynamic response and its corresponding static response or its corresponding minimum response were selected to calculate DLA. The second approach utilized weighted average method to take account of multi-local DLAs. Finally, the DLAs from two approaches were compared with those from other methods. The results show that DLAs obtained from the proposed approaches are greater than those from the conventional methods, which indicate that the current conventional methods underestimate the dynamic response of the structure. The authors recommend that the weighted average method based on experiments be used to compute DLAs because it can reflect the vehicle's whole impact on the bridge.

  • In the environment of wireless communication system of IEEE 802.15.3a UWB standard, the angle of arrival(AOA) estimation technique for the indoor wireless positioning algorithms, based on the AOA parameter estimation which fits well for the wireless communication channel and shows high estimation accuracy, is proposed. After the UWB signal model, based on the IEEE 802.1.3a standard, is constructed, the average weighted MUSIC technique is proposed, which shows better estimation accuracy than those of conventional estimation technique. Through the simulation studies, the environment of the indoor wireless positioning system including the IEEE 802.15.3a channel is configured and we demonstrate better estimation results by the proposed AOA estimation technique than those from the conventional method.

  • Object tracking is being studied with various techniques such as Kalman filter and Luenberger tracker. Even in situations, such as the one in which the system model is not well specified, to which existing signal processing techniques are not successfully applicable, it is possible to design artificial neural networks to track objects. In this paper, we propose an artificial neural network, which we call 'maximum-likelihood weighted-average neural network', to continuously track unpredictably moving objects. This neural network does not directly estimate the locations of an object but obtains location estimates by making weighted average combining various results of maximum likelihood tracking with different data lengths. We compare the performance of the proposed system with those of Kalman filter and maximum likelihood object trackers and show that the proposed scheme exhibits excellent performance well adapting the change of object moving characteristics.

  • This paper presents a novel close-loop control scheme based on small signal modeling and weighted composite voltage feedback for a three-phase input and single-phase output Matrix Converter (3-1MC). A small non-polar capacitor is employed as the decoupling unit. The composite voltage weighted by the load voltage and the decoupling unit voltage is used as the feedback value for the voltage controller. Together with the current loop, the dual-loop control is implemented in the 3-1MC. In this paper, the weighted composite voltage expression is derived based on the sinusoidal pulse-width modulation (SPWM) strategy. The switch functions of the 3-1MC are deduced, and the average signal model and small signal model are built. Furthermore, the stability and dynamic performance of the 3-1MC are studied, and simulation and experiment studies are executed. The results show that the control method is effective and feasible. They also show that the design is reasonable and that the operating performance of the 3-1MC is good.

  • The ImageNet dataset is a large scale dataset and contains various natural scene images. In this paper, we propose a convolutional neural network (CNN)-based weighted ensemble technique for the ImageNet classification task. First, in order to fuse several models, our technique uses weights for each model, unlike the existing average-based ensemble technique. Then we propose an algorithm that automatically finds the coefficients used in later ensemble process. Our algorithm sequentially selects the model with the best performance of the validation set, and then obtains a weight that improves performance when combined with existing selected models. We applied the proposed algorithm to a total of 13 heterogeneous models, and as a result, 5 models were selected. These selected models were combined with weights, and we achieved 3.297% Top-5 error rate on the ImageNet test dataset.

  • Performances of multiple surrogate models are evaluated in a turbomachinery blade shape optimization. The basic models, i.e., Response Surface Approximation, Kriging and Radial Basis Neural Network models as well as weighted average models are tested for shape optimization. Global data based errors for each surrogates are used to calculate the weights. These weights are multiplied with the respective surrogates to get the final weighted average models. The design points are selected using three level fractional factorial D-optimal designs. The present approach can help address the multi-objective design on a rational basis with quantifiable cost-benefit analysis.

  • The aim of this paper is to design a 3D laser radar prototype based on laser triangulation. The mathematical model of distance sensitivity is deduced; a pixel-distance conversion formula is discussed and used to complete 3D scanning. The center position extraction algorithm of the spot is proposed, and the error of the linear laser, camera distortion and installation are corrected by using the proposed weighted average algorithm. Finally, the three-dimensional analytic computational algorithm is given to transform the measured distance into point cloud data. The experimental results show that this 3D laser radar can accomplish the 3D object scanning and the environment 3D reconstruction task. In addition, the experiment result proves that the product of the camera focal length and the baseline length is the key factor to influence measurement accuracy.

  • It is important to make reasonable prediction about the long-term deformation of high rockfill geostructures. However, the deformation is usually underestimated using the rockfill parameters obtained from laboratory tests due to different size effects, which make it necessary to identify parameters from in-situ monitoring data. This paper proposes a novel hybrid back-analysis method with a modified objective function defined for the time-dependent back-analysis problem. The method consists of two stages. In the first stage, an improved weighted average method is proposed to quickly narrow the search region; while in the second stage, an adaptive response surface method is proposed to iteratively search for the satisfactory solution, with a technique that can adaptively consider the translation, contraction or expansion of the exploration region. The accuracy and computational efficiency of the proposed hybrid back-analysis method is demonstrated by back-analyzing the long-term deformation of two high embankments constructed for airport runways, with the rockfills being modeled by a rheological model considering the influence of stress states on the creep behavior.
