In this work, we characterized the shieldability and lightweight of radiation protective aprons which were consisted of various metal(Pb, Sn, Ni, Ti and Cu) by measuring the x-ray dose transmitted through the filters. The transmitted ratio and lead equivalent of various metal were obtained by linear interpolation and the lead equivalent of double layered filters contained Pb layer was determined. The transmitted ratio of the apron(0.25 mmPb) specified in KS B 0845 was 5.2%. The transmitted ratio of the filters at the thickness of 0.6 mm was decreased in the other of Ni(32.60%), Ti(17.75%), Cu(13.25%) and Sn(3.84%). From the results of experimental evaluation for combined filter of Pb and Sn, it was founded that in the case of the first Sn layer, the lead equivalent was higher than that of the first Pb layer. The lead equivalent corresponding to apron of 0.25 mmPb was obtained in the double layered filters of Sn(0.19 mm) - Pb(0.1 mm) and Pb(0.1 mm) - Sn(0.37 mm). Thus, the Sn-Pb filter had the lower weight about 13% than apron of 0.25 mmPb.
The measurement of physicochemical properties of ASR incineration ash has been carried dot and the preparation of light-weight material has also been performed using ASR ash for recycling point of view as building or construction materials. For this aim, chemical composition, particle size distribution, and heavy metal leachability were examined for 2 bottom ashes and 4 fly ashes obtained from the domestic ASR incinerator. In the present work, attempt has been made to prepare the lightweight material using boiler ash as a raw material, which is prepared by forming the mixture of boiler ash, lightweisht filler and inorganic binder and followed by calcination at elevated temperature. As a result, the content of Cu in bottom ash was as high as about 3wt% so that the recovery of Cu from ash was required. The major compound of SDR #5 and Bag filter #6 was found to be $CaCl_2{\cdot}Ca(OH)_2{\cdot}H_2O\;and\;CaCl_2{\cdot}4H_2O$, respectively. It is thought that heavy metal teachability of lightweight material prepared with boiler ash was significantly decreased due to the encapsulation or stabilization of heavy metal compounds.

X-ray image is a widely used to medical examination, airport security and cargo inspection. However, X-ray images contain many visual noise, which interrupt image analysis. Consequently, it is primary importance to reduce noises of X-ray image. In this paper, we present a improved denoise technique for x-ray image using pixel value and range weights. First, we denoise a x-ray image using bilateral filter. Next, we detect a edge region of the original x-ray image. If a denoised pixel belongs to the edge region, we calculate weighting values of original x-ray image and denoised x-ray image in $3{\times}3$ neighboring pixels and compute the cost value to determine the boundary pixel value. Finally, the pixel value having minimum cost is determined as the pixel value of the denoised x-ray image. Simulation results show that the proposed algorithm achieves good performance in terns of PSNR comparison and subjective visual quality.

In this paper, elliptic function bandpass filters using ceramic coaxial resonators are designed. Since elliptic function filters have better performance of frequency selectivity than those based on Butterworth or Chebyshev, therefore it is possible to make better use of limited frequency resources. Elliptic function bandpass filters using ceramic coaxial resonators are designed for reducing it's size, weight, cost and for easy manufacturing and tuning. From measurements, an accurate resonator model is obtained and the coupling coefficient values are extracted. Based on these results, elliptic function bandpass filters are designed. The experimental results have shown that the 8th order elliptic function filter of 959 MHz center frequency with 28 MHz bandwidth using coaxial ceramic resonators have about more tan 17 dB return loss, 5 dB insertion loss, more than 20 dB attenuation at $f_c\pm$5 MHz.

In application for acoustic echo cancellation and adaptive equalization, input signal is highly correlated and the long length of adaptive filter is needed. Affine projection algorithms, in these applications, can produce a good convergence performance. However, they have a drawback that is a complex hardware implementation. In this paper, we propose a new subband affine projection algorithm with improved convergence and reduced computational complexity. In addition, we suggest a good approach to implement the proposed method. In this method by applying polyphase decomposition, noble identity and critical decimation to the anne projection algorithm the number of input vectors for decorrelation can be reduced. The weight-updating formula of the proposed method is derived as a simple form that compared with the NLMS(normalized least mean square) algorithm by the reduced projection order The efficiency of the proposed algorithm for a colored input signal was evaluated by using computer simulations.
Biological treatment is promising alternative to conventional air pollution control method. Bioreactors for air pollution control have found most of their success in the treatment of dilute and high flow waste air streams containing volatile organic compounds and odor. The studies of mass transfer in biotrickling filters for air pollution control were of importance in order to control and optimize the purification process. The objectives of this study were to develop the experimental methodologies to evaluate the mass transfer coefficients of gas/liquid(trickling liquid), gas/solid(biomass) and liquid/solid in three phase biotrickling filtration. Also, this study characterized the influence factors on mass transfer such as dynamic holdup volume, gas/liquid flow rate ratio, biomass weight in reactor and recirculation rate of trickling medium for each phase of biotrickling filter.
This paper describes a real-time camera tracking framework specifically designed to track a monocular camera in an AR workspace. Typically, the Kalman filter is often employed for the camera tracking. In general, however, tracking performances of conventional methods are seriously affected by unpredictable situations such as ambiguity in feature detection, occlusion of features and rapid camera shake. In this paper, a recursive Bayesian sampling framework which is also known as the particle filter is adopted for the camera pose estimation. In our system, the camera state is estimated on the basis of the Gaussian distribution without employing additional uncertainty model and sample weight computation. In addition, the camera state is directly computed based on new sample particles which are distributed according to the true posterior of system state. In order to verify the proposed system, we conduct several experiments for unstable situations in the desktop AR environments.

A bag filter system was partially burnt down during a trial run of waste wood incineration boiler. This brought about unburned hydrocarbon which caused a rapid deactivation of low temperature SCR catalyst set up in two stage after the bag filter. The deactivated catalyst was investigated in order to trace the origin by several characterization methods such as XRD, EDX, BET, TGA, SEM. The deactivated catalyst was regenerated by different methods such as acid washing, water washing in ultrasonication, and calcination treatment under air condition. It is found the calcination treatment under air condition at $450^{\circ}C$ for 2 hours to be the best regeneration method. The catalytic activity was measured in the form of 2 cm ${\times}$ 2 cm ${\times}$ 10 cm (catalyst weight 10 g) honeycomb type. A deNOx efficiency of the regenerated catalyst showed 100% at $180^{\circ}C$ which is the same level of fresh one.
A rapid preconcentration method was developed for the speciation of the trace mercury compounds in water sample. The mercury compounds were extracted and preconcentrated simply as their dithizone complexes by passing through the dithizone impregnated ultra-high molecular weight polyethylene (UHMWPE) membrane solvent inlet filter following sanification in methanol solvent. The concentrated dithizonates were separated by liquid chromatography on a $C_{18}$ column. Complete resolution was obtained between methyl-, ethyl-, phenyl-, and inorganic mercury with a mobile phase of 0.05 M acetate buffer (pH=4)/THF/methanol(3:5:2). The separnted mercury chelates were detected by spectrophotometrically at 475 nm. The proposed method was successfully applied to the speciation of mercury compounds in waste water with detection limit at the subnanogram/mL level.

In military transportation, the use of wide trailer for transporting the large and heavy weight equipments such as tank, armoured vehicle, and mobile gunnery is quite common. So, the vulnerability of causing traffic accidents for these wide military trailer to bump or collide with another car in adjacent lane is very high due to its broad width in excess of its own lane's width. Also, the possibility of these strayed accidents can be increased especially by the careless driver. In this paper, the recognition system of lane and vehicle headway direction is developed to detect the possible collision and warn the driver to prevent the fatal accident. In the system development, Kalman filtering is used first to extract the border of driving lane from the video images supplied by the CCD camera attached to the vehicle and the driving lane detection is completed with regression analysis. Next, the vehicle headway direction is recognized by using neural network scheme with the extracted parameters of the detected driving lane feature. The practical experiments for the developed system are also carried out in the real traffic road of Seoul city area and the results show us the more than 90% accuracy in recognizing the driving lane and vehicle headway direction.
