Effectiveness of Web-Based Learning in Basic Nursing Practice Education - focusing on Asepsis technique practice - (기본간호학 실습 교육에서 웹 기반 학습의 효과 - 무균술 실습교육을 중심으로 -)

  • Purpose: This study was done to compare the effectiveness of web learning versus traditional education for learning Asepsis technique in Basic Nursing Practice. Method: This research was a quasi-experimental study. The participants were 60 students who were taking Basic Nursing at a nursing college in G city. Thirty students each were assigned to the experimental and the control group. Data were collected between September 26 and 30, 2005, The data were analyzed using descriptive statistics, Independent t-test and ANCOVA Results: The mean score for competence in Asepsis technique practice in the experimental group was 24.73 and in the control group 22.80. This result was statistically significant(t = 3.723, P = .001). The mean score for knowledge in the experimental group was 42.93 and in the control group 38.93. This result was statistically significant(t = 2.119, P = .038). The mean score for satisfaction with degree of study in the experimental group was 55.50 for the pre-test and 56.17 for the post-test, and in the control group 60.23 and 58.00 respectively. This result was statistically significant(F = 10.537, P = .002). Conclusion: The Web based learning was found to be effective in nursing practice, student satisfaction and knowledge, but web-based programs have to be continuously managed and various demands from learners have to be accepted. Eventually we have to use web-based program as educational medium to promote effective learning nursing education.

  • This study describes the development of nursing education program on web-based instruction for Nursing Management Practice of nursing school. The program has been developed based on five steps of the teaching-learning design model developed by Chung, In-Sung which is widely used in Web-Based Instruction(WBI). The objective of this study was to develop nursing education program on WEI and to evaluate its effectiveness. The subjects consisted of twenty-four senior nursing students taking the Nursing Management Practice course. Two sets of questionnaires were used for this study. They were asked to evaluate the program in terms of appropriateness of the teaching strategy, precision of the contents, easiness of use, easiness of approaching system, interface design, system management, enhancement of communication, and effectiveness of learning. The program was developed in five steps, analysis of the student, design of the contents, production of the system, implementation of the system, and evaluation of the effectiveness. It is concluded that this program was very useful in increasing the effectiveness of learning and motivation in the students. In addition to this, the web-based learning system would be one of the best qualified educational method for nursing students. Therefore, I would suggest that it can be used for other nursing courses which is available on the Web.

  • Web-based distance teacher training should focus on increasing self-directed problem solving skills of trainers by problem-based instruction(PBL). Performance assessment evaluates achievement of learning goals through the practical performance learning to solve problems in the real situation. This study proposes a web-based performance assessment model for the distance teacher training. It reflects fairness and objectiveness issues of performance assessment which elementary teachers are concerned about through the survey on distance teacher training, and relieves instructors from overload of managing and scoring performance tests. The proposed model provides problem-based learning situations, interactions between individuals and groups, and web-based cooperative evaluation and the peer evaluation.

Real-Time Earlobe Detection System on the Web

  • This paper proposed a real-time earlobe detection system using deep learning on the web. Existing deep learning-based detection methods often find independent objects such as cars, mugs, cats, and people. We proposed a way to receive an image through the camera of the user device in a web environment and detect the earlobe on the server. First, we took a picture of the user's face with the user's device camera on the web so that the user's ears were visible. After that, we sent the photographed user's face to the server to find the earlobe. Based on the detected results, we printed an earring model on the user's earlobe on the web. We trained an existing YOLO v5 model using a dataset of about 200 that created a bounding box on the earlobe. We estimated the position of the earlobe through a trained deep learning model. Through this process, we proposed a real-time earlobe detection system on the web. The proposed method showed the performance of detecting earlobes in real-time and loading 3D models from the web in real-time.

  • Generally, Web Based Instruction has been deployed through whole studies, but the characteristic that is suit various WBI materials to a course of study is a important problem of instructional practice and it also has not to overlook. Therefore, Today's problem that is application of learning materials about the regional autonomy for Web Based Instruction, A plan that it can be solved in the social studies is propelling in this paper. Each of the whole country's region, the learning about the regional autonomy with centering around text, it is a text book, 'Social Investigation', that is developed specially is teaching until now, but developmental model of learning materials about the regional autonomy for Web Based Instruction is proposed by the efforts for improve this problem. Various learning materials about the regional autonomy for Web Based Instruction applied to learn our regional cultural life through the school homepage with based on this proposal. As a result of this study, By sloughing off old sensibility with centering around text, Student's Ability of self directed learning and solving problem is expanded with the dynamic multimedia regional Webpage's environment

  • This paper presents an internet-based self-learning educational system which can be enhancing efficiency in the learning process of Java language. The proposed self-learning educational system is called Java Web Player(JWP), which is a Java application program and is executable through Java Web Start technologies. Also, three important sequential learning processes : concept learning process, programming practice process and assessment process are integrated in the proposed JWP using Java Web Start technologies. This JWP enables the learners to achieve efficient and interesting self-learning since the learning process is designed to enhance the multimedia capabilities on the basis of various educational technologies. Furthermore, internet-based on-line voice presentation and its related texts together with moving images are synchronized for efficient language learning process. Also, a simple and useful Java compiler is included in the JWP for providing language practice environment such as coding, editing, executing and debugging Java source files. Finally, repeated practice can make the learners to understand easily the key concepts of Java language. Simple multiple choices are given suddenly to the learners while they are studying through the JWP and the test results are displayed on the message box. This assessment process is very essential to increase the learner's academic capability.

Framework for Efficient Web Page Prediction using Deep Learning

  • Recently, due to exponential growth of access information on the web, the importance of predicting a user's next web page use has been increasing. One of the methods that can be used for predicting user's next web page is deep learning. To predict next web page, web logs are analyzed by data preprocessing and then a user's next web page is predicted on the output of the analyzed web logs using a deep learning algorithm. In this paper, we propose a framework for web page prediction that includes methods for web log preprocessing followed by deep learning techniques for web prediction. To increase the speed of preprocessing of large web log, a Hadoop based MapReduce programming model is used. In addition, we present a web prediction system that uses an efficient deep learning technique on the output of web log preprocessing for training and prediction. Through experiment, we show the performance improvement of our proposed method over traditional methods. We also show the accuracy of our prediction.

  • This study aims to design and implement individual complete learning system based on IPI(Individually Prescribed Instruction) model. Most of current web based learning systems do not consider individual students' ability and just follow the sequence of instructing contents $\rightarrow$ providing problems $\rightarrow$ presenting the result of evaluating. However, this system focuses on individual ability prior to studying subjects. In individual complete learning system, it is acknowledged that a period and a pace to complete each task will differ from students to students, therefore until they complete the whole unit, they are not allowed to move onto the next unit. After completing each unit, there will be a process of evaluating students' performance. It is necessary to show the correct completion of 80% of the evaluation to move onto next step; for those who are evaluated as inadequate to move on, an individual supplementary instruction will be provided. Therefore, this study intends to supplement the deficit of prior learning and provide feedback dependent on individual's learning ability so that the goal of Individual Whole Complete Learning could be accomplished.

  • This study analyzed the teaching and learning support web services of health-specialized colleges. It was searched for educational innovation and teaching and learning support on the portal site. Web services related to teaching and learning at eight health-specialized colleges were classified into five categories. CTL web service support, teaching support, learning support, CTL introduction, and differentiated web services were analyzed. Teaching and learning support and CTL introduction web services were subdivided and operated, and web services that increased access to teaching and learning support were provided to teachers and students by preparing for national exams. Students at health-specialized colleges must pass the national examination to get a job, and the quality of teaching and learning needs to be improved. Therefore, the excellence of providing teaching and learning programs is required for junior college teachers and students. Based on this study, it is expected to improve the quality of web services for teaching and learning support in specialized health colleges.

  • This study investigated to designand implement web-based collaborative learning system Co-Net and map out students' learning procedure using the system, based upon Student Team Achievement Division (STAD Slavin, 1990, 1996). There are technical process and instructional considerations to be made during the design process. The former are those that concern equipment requirements and specifications and include Ease of Use, Speed of Access, and Flexibility. On the other hand, instructional considerationsare concerned with the delivery and access of instructional materials and their outcomes on learners. They are cooperative interactions within groups and group heterogeneity, learner control, group incentives, individual accountability, equal opportunity for earning high scores and contributing to group effort, task specialization, and competition among groups. A web site for a virtual learning environment designed and built by the authors and known as Co-Net is then explained along with the whole process learners inside the environment. The main page of Co-Net consists of 15 menus to implement cooperative learning process. The cooperative learning activities using 15 menus are composed of six phases (1) preparation of the new knowledge (2) presentation of the new knowledge (3) knowledge assimilation and application (4) team and individual evaluation (5) team and individual recognition Throughout the five phases, the appropriate use of cooperative learning techniques has been shown to have both academic and social benefits to learners.
