  • Educational utilization of the Web has drawn much interest from educational institutions due to advantages such as arousing interest, self-motivated participation, and acquisition of up-to-the-minute information beyond time and spatial limitation. Researches have been focused on searching and retrieving information from the Web in many different ways. In this paper, we introduce Web-based project which emphasizes on an organized and unified way of using the Web, a higher level methodology than just gathering and searching information. The advantages of Web-based project can be considered as wide experiences of the subject, integrated curricular education, creativity development, cultivation of cooperative spirit, global education, etc. We address basic concepts of managing Web-based project and discuss applicable areas. Also, we propose a fundamental design structure of Web-based project.

  • A cluster consists of a collection of interconnected stand-alone computers working together and provides a high-availability solution in application area such as web services or information systems. Content-based load distribution for web server clusters uses the detailed data found in the application layer to intelligently route user requests among web servers. In this paper, we propose a content-based load distribution algorithm that considers cache hit and load information of the web servers under the web server clusters. In addition, we expand this algorithm in order to manage user requests for dynamic file. Specially, our algorithm does not keep track of any frequency of access information or try to model the contents of the caches of the web servers.

  • Web Services allow a user to integrate applications from different platforms and languages. Since mobile applications often run on heterogeneous platforms and conditions, Web Service becomes a popular solution for integrating with server applications. However, because of its verbosity, XML based SOAP messaging gives the possible overhead to the less powerful mobile devices. Based on the mobile client's behavior that it usually exchanges messages with Web Service continuously in a session, we design the Handheld Flexible Representation architecture. Our proposed architecture consists of three main components: optimizing message representation by using a data format language (Simple_DFDL), streaming communication channel to reduce latency and the Context-store to store context information of a session as well as redundant parts of the messages. In this paper, we focus on the Context-store and describe the architecture with the Context-store for improving the performance of mobile Web Service messaging. We verify our approach by conducting various evaluations and investigate the performance and scalability of the proposed architecture. The empirical results show that we save 40% of transit time between a client and a service by reducing the message size. In contrast to solutions for a single problem such as the compression or binarization, our architecture addresses the problem at a system level. Thus, by using the Context-store, we expect reliable recovery from the fault condition and enhancing interoperability as well as improving the messaging performance.

  • Recently, the amount of web pages, which include various information, has been drastically increased according to the explosive increase of WWW usage. Therefore, the need for web page classification arose in order to make it easier to access web pages and to make it possible to search the web pages through the grouping. Web page classification means the classification of various web pages that are scattered on the web according to the similarity of documents or the keywords contained in the documents. Web page classification method can be applied to various areas such as web page searching, group searching and e-mail filtering. However, it is impossible to handle the tremendous amount of web pages on the web by using the manual classification. Also, the automatic web page classification has the accuracy problem in that it fails to distinguish the different web pages written in different forms without classification errors. In this paper, we propose the automatic web page classification system using meta-tag that can be obtained from the web pages in order to solve the inaccurate web page retrieval problem.

  • Most people choose Internet search engine first more than the library for their information search in these days. Many users do not know library homepage's content. How to improve the users in library homepage? This study aims to suggest the direction of library homepage service in Web 2.0. For this study the author analyzed library homepage that is introducing some representative Web 2.0 and other Web 2.0 sites. AJAX, RSS, Open API, MashUp, Wikis, Blog are the main technologies in Web 2.0. Those technologies become a tool that can do user centered library homepage. But, more important thing is information production that introduce to users. Web 2.0 suggests good information transfer for users. It needs to produce the information that stimulates the library user. It means that Web 2.0 give a good opportunity for libraries as an information production.

  • Despite of information security installation, leakage of personal information in web services has not decreased. This is because traffics to web applications are still vulnerable by permitting external sources to access services in port HTTF 80 and HTTPS 443, even with firewall systems in place. This thesis analyzes various attack patterns resulted from web service environment and vulnerable traffic and categorizes the traffics into normal and abnormal traffics. Also this proposes ways to analyze web application attack patterns from those abnormal traffics based on weak points warned in OWASF(Open Web Application Security Project), design a system capable of detect and isolate attacks in real time, and increase efficiency of preventing attacks.

  • Web Services have been utilized in a wide variety of applications and have turned into a key technology in developing business operations on the Web. Originally, Web Services can be exploited in an isolated form, however when no single Web Service can satisfy the functionality required by a user, there should be a possibility to compose existing services together in order to fulfill the user requirement. However, since the same service may be offered by different providers with different non-functional Quality of Service (QoS), the task of service selection for Web Service composition is becoming complicated. Also, as Web Services are inherently unreliable, how to deliver reliable Web Services composition over unreliable Web Services should be considered while composing Web Services. In this paper, we propose an approach on a QoS-aware Web Service selection for reliable Web Service composition. In our approach, we select and classify Web Services using Decision Tree based on QoS attributes provided by the client. Service classifier will improve selection of relevant Web Services early in the composition process and also provide flexibility to replace a failed Web Services with a redundant alternative Web Services, resulting in high availability and reliability of Web Service composition. We will provide an implementation of our proposed approach along with efficiency measurements through performance evaluation.

  • Since mid 90's, most of firms utilizing web as a communication vehicle with customers are keenly interested in web log file which contains a lot of trails customers left on the web, such as IP address, reference address, cookie file, duration time, etc. Therefore, an appropriate analysis of the web log file leads to understanding customer's behaviors on the web. Its analysis results can be used as an effective marketing information for locating potential target customers. In this study, we introduced a web mining technique using Clementine of SPSS, and analyzed a set of real web log data file on a certain Internet hub site. We also suggested a process of various strategies build-up based on the web mining results.
