SPIHT Video Coder Using Perceptual Weight in Wavelet transform (웨이브릿 변환에서 인지적 가중치를 이용한 SPIHT 비디오 부호기)

  • The frame coding inside the screen for a video coder has a big influence on the quality of the whole frame. The standardized video coder uses DCT, however it can give rise to a low image quality due to the blocking effect at low bit rate. This paper proposes a video coding method for an image quality improvement in human visual aspects. With the proposed method, the perceptual weight is coded with SPIHT and VLC by applying it into the frame and the visual noises are eliminated.

  • Wavelet transform has recently emerged as a promising technique for video processing applications due to its flexibility in representing non-stationary video signals. Motion estimation which uses wavelet transform of octave band division method is applied In many places but if motion estimation error happens in the lowest frequency band. motion estimation error is accumulated by next time strep and there has the Problem that time and the data amount that are cost In calculation at each steps are increased. On the other hand. wavelet packet that achieved the best image quality in a given bit rate from a rate-distortion sense is suggested. But, this method has the disadvantage of time costs on designing wavelet packet. In order to solve this problem we solved this problem by introducing Top_down method. But we did not find the optimum solution in a given butt rate. That image variance can represent image complexity is considered in this paper. In this paper. we propose a fast multiresolution motion estimation scheme based on the adaptive wavelet transform for video compression.

An Embedded Video Compression Scheme Using a Three-Dimensional Rate-Distortion Optimization Based Block Coder (3차원 비트율-왜곡 최적화 기반 블록 부호화를 이용하는 임베디드 비디오 압축 방법)

  • In this paper, we propose a new embedded video compression scheme which uses three-dimensional rate-distortion optimization based block coder. After the proposed scheme removes temporal redundancy by applying the motion compensated temporal filtering(MCTF) on input video frames, two dimensional discrete wavelet transform is applied on video frames to remove spatial redundancy. The three-dimensional wavelet coefficients generated in this way are sorted according to their expected rate-distortion slope and encoded by using the three-dimensional block partition coding method. The proposed scheme also uses both the effective color video coding method which maintains embedded features, and the efficient bit-rate control method. Experimental results demonstrate that the proposed scheme not only produces embedded bit-streams, but also outperforms existing video compression schemes.

  • With the rapid growth of network distributions of digitized media(audio, image, and video), there is an urgent need for copyright protection. For now watermarking is a well-known technique for copyright protection of digital data. To embed a digital watermark to the image, discrete cosine transform(DCT) and wavelet transform are commonly used. In this paper, the performance of the DCT based watermarking technique and wavelet based watermarking technique were compared and the influences of the parameter a that decides the strength of the watermarking data were considered.

  • This paper proposes a new approach for digital watermarking and secure copyright protection of video. the principal aim being to discourage illicit copying and distribution of copyrighted material. The method presented here is based on the three dimensional discrete wavelet transform of video scene. The watermark is a copyright information encoded in the form of a spread spectrum signal to ensure the system security and is embedded in the 3D DWT magnitude of video chunks. The performance of the presented technique is evaluated experimentally.

A Study of Very Low Bit-Rate Color Video Coding Using Adaptive Wavelet Trasform (적응적 웨이블릿 변환을 이용한 저속 비트율 컬러 비디오 코딩에 관한 연구)

  • This paper presents a new method for an efficient coding of very low bit-rate color video based on adaptive wavelet transform. Our approach reveals that the coding process works more efficiently if the quantized wavelet coefficients are preprocessed by a mechanism exploiting the redundancies in the wavelet subband structure. Thus, we focuses optimized activity of coding part, and exhaustive overlapped block motion compensation is utilized to ensure coherency in motion compensated error frames, and raised cosine window is applied. The horizontal and vertical components of motion vectors are encoded separately using adaptive arithmetic coding while significant wavelet coefficients are encoded in bit-plane order using adaptive arithmetic coding. On average the proposed codec exceeds H.263 and ZTE in peak signal-to-noise ratio by as much as 2.07 and 1.38dB at 28 kbits, respectively. Fore entire sequence coding, 3DWCVC method is superior to H.263 and ZTE by 0.35 and 0.71dB on average, respectively.

  • In the decoding process of interframe Wavelet coding, the Wavelet transform requires huge computational complexity. Since the decoder may need to be used in various devices such as PDAs, notebooks, or PC, the decoder's complexity should be adapted to the processor's computational power. So, it is natural that the low complexity codec is also required for scalable video coding. In this paper, we develop a method of controlling and lowering the complexity of the spatial Wavelet transform while sustaining the same coding efficiency as the conventional spatial Wavelet transform. In addition, the proposed method may alleviate the ringing effect for slowly changing image sequences.

  • This paper proposes a hierarchical approach to shape model ASM using wavelet transform. Local structure model fitting in the ASM plays an important role in model-based pose and shape analysis. The proposed algorithm can robustly find good solutions in complex images by using wavelet decomposition. we also proposed effective method that estimates and corrects object's movement by using Wavelet transform-based hierarchical motion estimation scheme for ASM-based, real-time video tracking. The proposed algorithm has been tested for various sequences containing human motion to demonstrate the improved performance of the proposed object tracking.

  • It is a weak point of the motion estimation technique for video compression that the predicted video encoding algorithm requires higher-order computational complexity. To reduce the computational complexity of encoding algorithms, researchers introduced techniques such as 3D-WT that don't require motion prediction. One of the weakest points of previous 3D-WT studies is that they require too much memory for encoding and too long delay for decoding. In this paper, we propose a technique called `FS (Fast playable and Scalable) 3D-WT' This technique uses a modified Haar wavelet transform algorithm and employs improved encoding algorithm for lower memory and shorter delay requirement. We have executed some tests to compare performance of FS 3D-WT and 3D-V. FS 3D-WT has exhibited the same high compression rate and the same short processing delay as 3D-V has.

  • In this paper we proposed a video watermarking algorithm based on a three dimension discrete wavelet transform (3D DWT) and direct spread spectrum (DSS). In the proposed method, the information watermark is embedded into followed frames, after sync watermark is embedded into the first frame. Input frames are divided into sub frames which are located odd row and even row. The sub frames are arranged as 3D frames, and transformed into 3D wavelet domain. In this domain the watermark is embedded using DSS. Existing video watermarking using 3D DWT is non-blind method but, proposed algorithm uses blind method. The experimental results show that the proposed algorithm is robust against frame cropping, noise addition, compression, etc. acquiring BER of 10% or below and sustains level of 40dB or above on the average.
