In the digital waveguide theory, traveling waves are represented by general solution to the wave equation that is second-order linear partial differential equation. The movement of these waves can be implemented using only delay lines. An unit delay in the general digital waveguide describes a sampling time interval. However, in the space-based digital waveguide the unit delay implies the spatial sampling distance. In consideration of these differences between two models, it is known that the space-based digital waveguide model is adequate to synthesize pitch-shifted sounds such as vibrato because the propagation distance can be directly control. In this paper, the time-based digital waveguide model which also synthesizes pitch-shifted sounds is proposed and compared with space-based digital waveguide.

A planar waveguide model is presented for calculating dispersion characteristics of the normalized phase velocity and characteristic impedance with the frequency dependent effective dielectric constand and effective width in microstrip lines of the hybrid mode. Eeff(f) and Weff(f) are applied to a planar waveguide model by using an empirical relations and formula designed for CAD purposes as a function of frequency. A wide range of relative dielectric constants and the strip $h_{width}$strate height(W/h ratios), $0.5$\leq$W/h\leq2.5$ are used. These results are compared with static value, spectral domain analysis, and empirical results. As the result of a computer simulation, in the case of using a planar waveguide model, the frequency dependent normalized phase velocity is more closely approached to 1/ and characteristic impedance is more increased than the other method that has already been presented as the increasing of the frequency. And, the case of applying Eeff(f) designed for the purpose of CAD to this proposed model is show in better result than the case of using a empirical relations.

The radiating multislotted antennas widely used in the antennas technique are rather prospective for the application in industrial installations for microwave heating. In this paper, the model of such an antenna is experimentally investigated. The model under investigation presents a section of the waveguide Inn 340 whose broad wall contains 15 movable slotted plates. This design allows to experimentally define a location of all the slots providing the necessary distribution of radiating power along the waveguide with minimal SWR of all the system. The variants of power uniform distribution along the waveguide as well as the power decreasing to the waveguide end are examined. The application of plates with different thickness allowed to estimate the influence of the walls thickness on the Power distribution. The possibility of system extra-tuning with the help of tuning screws located in the vicinity of each slot is considered. Obtained results are compared to the conducted theoretical calculations and data in references.

A planar waveguide model is presented for calculating dispersion characteristics with the frequency dependent effective dielectric constant in microstrip lines and results are compared by the variation of each parameter. It is compared to use a wide range of relative dielectric constants and the strip $h_{width}$strate height, W/h ratios, 0.9$\leq$W/h$\leq$2. As the result of a computer simulation, the normalized phase velocity using a planar waveguide model for each case is more closely approached to 1/$\sqrt{\epsilon_r}$ as the increasing of the frequency than the other method that has already been presented.
Digital waveguide model is a general method that is used in physical modeling of musical instruments. Wave motion is analyzed by time or by space in digital waveguide model. Because sampling is made via time, it is general that musical instrument model is described by wave motion of time. In this paper, we synthesized the musical instrument sound by adding instrument body model to the spatial based string model. In this way, we could improve sound quality and process musical instrument model's tone control variables effectively. We explained about delay error that happens in string and body in space based sampling and showed method to process fractional delay using FD (Fractional Delay)filter. Finally, we explained the relation between tone quality and number of delays. And we also compared the result with time base digital waveguide model.

In this paper, we propose an equivalent model of array antennas that use open-ended waveguides for effective EM simulation. We first investigate an individual element that consists of an open-ended waveguide and square ground plane. The waveguide length, aperture size, and ground size of the individual element are adjusted to give a similar radiation pattern to that of the individual element of the original antenna. We then apply the designed equivalent model to two different types of array antennas, such as a microstrip patch array and a waveguide array antenna. Comparison of the simulation results using the equivalent model with the results obtained with the original antenna reveals a difference in gain of less than 0.2 dB and a difference in half power beam width(HPBW) of less than $1^{\circ}$. The designed equivalent model is then mounted on a simple aircraft, and the simulation results are again compared to results from the original antenna. We find a 60 % reduction in simulation resources and time when compared with the original antenna model.

A novel impedance model is proposed fur the rectangular power plane along with the analytic impedance expression derived from it. The power plane is modeled as a section of a rectangular waveguide with appropriate boundary conditions around its periphery. As a result, the derived impedance expression based on the proposed model has the one-dimensional series form, which is simpler and computationally more efficient than the existing formula based on cavity model of the power plane.

In this paper, we proposed a diffuion model of Ti diffused lithium niobate optical waveguide for fabricating waveguides with high refractive index and compared with conventional one. The achivement of low optical insertion loss between waveguide interface and single mode fibers was discussed as a function of Ti thickness for $\lambda$=1.55$\mu\textrm{m}$ The proposed diffusion method exhibited higher refractive index waveguide than conventional one for $\lambda$=0.6328$\mu\textrm{m}$ We have achieved the total fiber-waveguide-fiber insertion loss as low as 0.5dB/cm in z-cut and 1$\pm$0.5dB/cm in x-cut for both TM and TE mode of Mach-Zehnder interferometric waveguide in the range of Ti thickness 1000-1400$\AA$ for $\lambda$=1.55$\mu\textrm{m}$ From these results, this diffusion model for making a low loss waveguide can be used for low-power-modulators and switches.
The waveguide finite element (WFE) method is a useful numerical technique to investigate wave propagation along waveguide structures which have uniform cross-sections along the length direction ('x' direction). In the present paper, the vibration and radiated noise of the submerged pipe with fluid is investigated numerically by coupling waveguide finite elements and wavenumber boundary elements. The pipe and internal fluid are modelled with waveguide finite elements and the external fluid with wavenumber boundary elements which are fully coupled. In order to examine this model, the point mobility, dispersion curves and radiated power are calculated and compared for several different coupling conditions between the pipe and internal/external fluids.

It is important to understand the vibrating behavior of plate structures for many engineering applications. In this study, vibration characteristics of strip plates which have finite width and infinite length are investigated theoretically and numerically. The waveguide finite element approach is used in this study which is known as an effect tool for waveguide structures. WFE method requires only cross-sectional FE model and uses theoretical harmonic solutions for the wave propagation along the longitudinal direction. First of all for a simple strip plate, WFE results are compared with theoretical ones such as the dispersion diagrams, point mobilities, etc. to validate the numerical model. Then in the numerical analysis, the several different types of longitudinal stiffeners are included to the plate model to investigate the effects of the stiffeners in terms of the dispersion curves and mobilities.
