  • Single-phase multi-level AC-DC converter is proposed that is composed of diode bridge and switch. The number of the supply current level is depending on the individual current level of the converter. A converter circuit the number of the level is equal to $\textrm{2}^{M+1}$-1 The proposed circuit has converter with 31 current levels. When the number of current level is increased smoother sinusoidal waveform can be obtained directly and it is possible to control the supply current almost continuously from zero to maximum without step changes of generating high voltage as pulse width modulation switching loss is decreased it has an advantage in large capacity. it is illustrated technique are confirmed the validity and effectiveness through the simulation & experiments

  • This paper studies the commutation phenomenon in the Brushless DC Motor with the trapezoidal BEMF waveform. It is shown that the torque ripple am the speed ripple due to the phase commutation depend on driving sytem, operating speed am load condition. The effects of resistance and BEMF flat width on torque ripple are considered. Speed - torque characteristics of the motor is presented considering the phase commutation. Uncommutating current control method can attenuate the torque ripple in the low speed region, and also minimize the switching loss am switching frequency. In this paper, the commutation phenomena are verified by analytical formulation and simulation.

  • A new PWM technique for a two-phase BLDC motor fed by a two-phase eight-switch inverter is proposed in this paper. It is well known that a two-phase eight-switch inverter can significantly improve power output compared with a two-phase six-switch inverter in a two-phase motor drive. To drive the two-phase BLDC motor simply and effectively, two normal PWM strategies are investigated to manage speed regulation. However, under the conditions of low speed and light load, especially during the braking process, the current in a short time of one period is near zero, which is a discontinuous waveform every half period. To solve it, a novel PWM technique is investigated to improve the operational performance of normal technique. Using the new PWM scheme, the current continues every half period and the braking performance is improved. The effectiveness of the proposed PWM method is verified through the experiments.

  • In this paper, characteristics of blushless direct current (BLDC) motor including core loss are analyzed considering pulse width modulation (PWM) of inverter. Input voltage of BLDC motor due to PWM is calculated considering duty ratio and carrier frequency of inverter in order to control torque or speed of BLDC motor. For the calculation of core loss, the input current with harmonics due to PWM voltage is calculated by using equivalent circuit model of BLDC motor according to switching pattern and carrier frequency. Next, core loss is analyzed by inputting the currents as a source of BLDC motor for FEM. Characteristics including core loss are compared with ones without PWM waveform according to reference speed.

  • In this paper, the patient monitor consisting of ECG/Respiration Amplification, Front end CPU, Main CPU, Main Controller, Video Amplifier, Display Controller, Waveform Generator, Bus & Power Supply, 8097 Processor was developed. This patient monitor measures the patient's states in the hospital such as elecctro-cardiography, respiration, blood pressurae and temperature. The control and processing methods based on micro-processor employ the flexibility, extensibility over other conventional system. The followings are incorporated in this system. First, ECG/RESP measures the respiration by impedence pneumography. Second, FECPU utilizes an Intel 8031 microcontroller. Third, Controller function originate from a LSI CRT controller.

  • Switched Reluctance Motor (SRM) offers the advantages of simple and robust motor construction, high speeds and high efficiencies over a wide operating range of torque and speed, excellent controllability. However, SRM has the disadvantages of high current harmonics, and low power factor because of a capacitor filter is inserted in the power converter and inductance of SRM is high, it has pulse waveform of current. This paper deals with an energy efficient converter fed SRM system with the reduced harmonics and improved power factor and with higher efficiency. The validity of the proposed scheme is verified via experiment. We are implemented the proposed control system using 80C196KC micro-controller.

  • Cardiac arrhythmias are associated with electrical Instability and, hence, with abnormal mechanical activity of the heart in many cases, arrhythmias can be treated with drugs or electric shock to control and/or stop them. Hence fast arrhythmia detection is very important. In this paper RR interval, QRS width, and morphology are used for diagnosis and QRS complex is detected by hardware system. hence diagnosing time is shorten. Moreover doctors or nurses who have little knowledge of computer manipulation can get the Information of Patient's ECG by showing characteristics of abnormal waveform and by mapping graphs of RR interval .vs. QRS width and RR interval .vs. morphology on screen.

  • In this paper, a new three-phase voltage-source inverter topology for high voltage and high Power applications is proposed to improve the quality of output voltage waveform. A chain converter which is used as an auxiliary circuit generates a ripple voltage and injects it to the conventional 12-step inverter. Thus, the injection of the ripple voltage results in 36-step operation with a link and 60-step operation with two links. The proposed inverter is compared to the conventional multilevel inverter in the viewpoint of ratings of phase- shifting transformers, switching devices and capacitors employed. The proposed scheme is simple to control capacitor voltages compared to the conventional schems and is cost effective for high voltage and high power application over several tens of MVA. The proposed approach is validated through simulation, and the experimental results are provided from a 2KVA laboratory prototype.
