  • Although orthogonal function is introduced in control theory in early 1970's, it is not perfect. Since the concept of integral operator by Chen and Hsiao in mid 1970's, orthogonal function (for example Walsh, Block-pulse, Haar, Laguerre, Legendre, Chebychev etc) has been widely applied In system's analysis and identification, model reduction, state estimation, optimal control, signal processing, image processing, EEG, and ECG etc. The reason why Walsh Functions introduces in control theory is that as integral of Walsh function is also developed in Walsh orthogonal function, if we transfer give system into integral equation and introduce Walsh function. We can know that system's characteristic by algebraical expression. This approach is based on least square error and that result is expressed as computer calculation and partly continuous constant value which is easy to apply. Such a Walsh function has been actively studied in USA, TAIWAN, INDO, CHINA, EUROPE etc and in domestic, author has studied it for 10 years since it was is introduced in 1982. This paper is consider the that author has studied for 10 years and Walsh function's efficiency.

  • A Walsh function method is proposed in this report for the analysis and optimal control of linear time-delay systems, which is based on the Picard's iterative approximation and fast Walsh transformation. In this research, the following results are obtained: 1) The differential and integral equation can be solved by transforming into a simple algebraic equation as it was possible with the usual orthogonal function method: 2) General orthogonal function methods require usage of Walsh operational matrices for delay or advance and many calculations of inverse matrices, which are not necessary in this method. Thus, the control problems of linear time-delay systems can be solved much faster and readily.

  • A Walsh function based associative memory is capable of storing m patterns in a single pattern storage space with Walsh encoding of each pattern. Furthermore, each stored pattern can be matched against the stored patterns extremely fast using algorithmic parallel processing. As such, this special type of memory is ideal for real-time processing of large scale information. However this incredible efficiency generates large amount of crosstalk between stored patterns that incurs mis-recognition. This crosstalk is a function of the set of different sequencies [number of zero crossings] of the Walsh function associated with each pattern to be stored. This sequency set is thus optimized in this paper to minimize mis-recognition, as well as to maximize memory saying. In this paper, this Walsh memory has been applied to the problem of face recognition, where PCA is applied to dimensionality reduction. The maximum Walsh spectral component and genetic algorithm (GA) are applied to determine the optimal Walsh function set to be associated with the data to be stored. The experimental results indicate that the proposed methods provide a novel and robust technology to achieve an error-free, real-time, and memory-saving recognition of large scale patterns.

  • Walsh function and transform are important analytical tools for control theory and signal processing and have wide applications in those fields, especially in the field of digital communications. Therefore there is a need for a Walsh function generator in order to realize certain applications. And a number of different desists are known. But desist and implementation of such a generator through hardware logic nay give rise to orthogonality error. To develop Walsh function generator which gets rid of orthogonality error, this paper presents a microprocessor based design and implementation method.

  • In this paper the observer design problem in bilinear systems is studied using the Walsh functions as approximating set of functions to find a finite series expansion of the state of bilinear system. A classical Liapnove method, to finding a class of observer feedback matrix, is applied to ensure uniform asymptotic stability of the observation error dynamics. An algorithm is derived for observer state eq. via Walsh function. The basic objective is to develop a computational algorithm for the determination of the coefficients in the expansion. This approach technique gives satisfactory result as well provides precise and effective method for the bilinear observer design problem.

미지입력 관측기 설계를 위한 하알함수 접근법 (The Haar Function Approach for the Unknown Input Observer Design)

  • 본 연구에서는 월쉬함수를 이용하여 샘플링 구간내에서 데이터를 처리할 수 있는 온라인 월쉬변환과 샘플링 구간내에서 미분 방정식을 계산할 수 있는 새로운 온라인 월쉬함수 미분연산법을 제안하였다. 스케일링 인자의 도입과 다음구간에서의 초기조건을 계산하여 줌으로써 임의의 샘플링 시간을 취할 수 있게 하였으며 제안된 월쉬함수 온라인 알고리즘을 이용하여 기존의 직교함수가 가지는 최종시간까지의 신호를 모두 알고 있어야 그 적용이 가능하다는 단점을 제거하였다. 유사변환법을 이용하여 유도된 동적 시스템에 대한 Luenberger관측기를 월쉬함수를 이용하여 새롭게 변환함으로써 관측기에 포함된 출력의 미분항을 없애기 위한 불필요한 관측기 방정식의 분할을 피하였으며 대수적으로 상태 및 미지입력을 추정하였다. 제안된 방법을 이용하면 실시간 처리를 요하는 시스템에 유용하게 적용될 것으로 기대된다.

  • This paper deals with a novel approach to unknown inputs observer(UIO) design for linear time-invariant dynamical systems using a fast Walsh transform and Walsh function's differential operation. Generally, UIO has a derivation of system outputs which is not available from the measurement directly. And it is an obstacle to estimate the unknown inputs properly when unexpected measurement noises are presented. Therefore, this paper propose an algebraic approach to eliminate such problems by using a Walsh function's differential operation.

주파수 영역에서 Walsh 함수에 의한 전달함수의 간단화 (Simplification of Transfer Function Via Walsh Function in Frequency Domain)

  • This paper deals with the simplification of the transfer function in a frequency domain, viz. the integral of the squared errors between the original and the simplified model is minimized and the latter is estimated by the Walsh function. It tries to minimize the errors between the frequency responses of the two functions. This method is compared with the existing method by means of a numercal example. The frequency response of this simplified model approximates closely to that of the original model. The proposed method is simpler in analysis and easier in implementation than the existing methods. Though the Walsh function can be easily generated with the discrete values, it has errors because its zero crossings are not continuous. This method aims at the reduction of the errors in the real parts and the imaginary parts of the two functions by dividing into the more sub-intervals, and selecting the reduced-order model according to the response of the model. As a result, it can be applied for the simplification of higher order functions into lower order functions and for the design of control systems.

  • In this paper, an algorithm of the automatic commissioning for vector controlled induction motor using controller characteristics is proposed. The automation of commissioning sequence is carried out using Walsh function analysis. In the proposed method, the distortion of the controller output waveform is easily detected and can be automatically tuned by using Walsh function analysis. This tuning algorithm has the advantage such as less sensitivity to the variation of other parameters and high sensitivity to parameter error. Hence, the easy tuning of high performance drive system of the induction motor is possible. Some experiments are carried out to prove the validity of the proposed automatic commissioning algorithm.

  • 3G CDMA 시스템의 순방향 링크는 사용자 수의 증가에 따른 제한을 받게 된다. 기존의 채널 구분을 위한 부호인 Walsh 부호는 많은 사용자에 대 한 충분한 크기를 갖지 못하므로, Walsh 부호와 최적의 상관 특성을 갖는 준직교 부호(QOF: Quasi Orthogonal Function)가 고려되고 있다. 본 논문에서는 3G CDMA 시스템에서 더 낮은 상관 값과 우수한 성능을 갖는 재킷 행렬 상에서의 준직교 수열 생성에 관해 고찰하였다. 또한 QOF CDMA 시스템의 검파기의 단순화 및 BER 성능 개선을 위한 새로운 검파 구조를 제시하였다. 마지막으로, QOF 마스크 함수를 위한 bent 수열의 간단한 반복 생성에 대해 고찰하였다.
