The purpose of this study is to investigate the effect of visual rhythmic stimulation in gait ability and proprioception in chronic stroke patients. Twenty-one persons after six months post stroke participated in pre and post test control. The subjects were randomly assigned to a rhythmic visual stimulation(RVS) group (n=10) and control group (n=11). Training process was practiced with exercise on thirty minutes a day, three days a week for four weeks. To find out the effect, inspected the proprioception test and gait characteristics by gait analysis. In gait characteristics, the walking speed, cadence and the TUG time were significantly different from RVS group. The proprioception were significantly different RVS and control group. This study showed that the RVS training increased better functional activity by postural adjustment and gait learning of chronic stroke patients than that of control group. And so, the RVS training of hemiplegic patients was very important to successive rehabilitation. A continuous examination of RVS training could be practical use of physical therapy with exercise.
While rural highways carry on lower traffic volumes, the deviations of running speeds between vehicles appear to be higher on rural highways than urban highways. The speed characteristic of rural highways is adding to pedestrian-related accidents which occur on a crosswalk with poor sight distance due to the limits of car headlights and lighting. Specially, the aged was mostly occupied in nighttime-related accidents on crosswalks, and pedestrians crossing on the far side of approaching vehicles appear to have the probability of fatality higher than the near side. An alternative is needed to resolve the compounded accidents, and then this study is to establish a new approach to an optimum lighting environment on a crosswalk to improve pedestrian safety. This study was conducted by a survey and a field study on the lighting of existing crosswalks. The field study shows that the existing lighting has the problem of wasting energy and impeding walking due to glare. The survey shows that nighttime sight distance on a crosswalk is required to improve and that road users prefer to be brighter pedestrian waiting space together with the crosswalk. Thus, a lighting environment that is not too bright and illuminates the crosswalk and the pedestrian waiting space is needed to implement.
The purpose of this study was to determine the effects of knee flexor isokinetic training on the mean peak torque of knee muscles and hamstrings-to-quadriceps ratio(H/Q ratio) in hemiplegia able to walk independently for more than 10 meters, to analyze the effect of torque increasing on functional aspects; fatigability and ambulation times, also. Forty-one adult subjects with hemiplegia secondary to a stroke partipated in this study. All participants were in/out patients at the College of Medicine, Pocheon CHA University, Pundang CHA General Hospital. The patients were allocated to two groups: one group exclusively for isokinetic maximal voluntary knee flexor training at $150^{\circ}$/sec(n=20) and the other exclusively for isokinetic maximal voluntary knee flexor training from $30^{\circ}$/sec to $150^{\circ}$/sec (n=21) gradually. The allocation was performed according to patient age, sex, affected side to minimize imbalance between the two training groups. Training was carried out from February 14th, 2000 to April 15th, 2000. Analysis of the data was done by means of t-test, x2-test, paired t-test, ANOVA, and multiple regression analysis. The results of this study were as follows: 1. There were no significant differences between the two groups in mean peak torque of knee muscles and relative decreases in knee extensor mean peak torque with increased knee flexor velocities before training (P<.05). 2.There was no significant differences between the two groups in the H/Q ratio, and no relative increases with increased knee flexor velocities before training. 3. there were significant changes in mean peak torque in group A after training(P<.05), but no significant differences as the velocity increased 4.there were significant changes in mean peak torque in group B after training(P<.05), but no significant differences as the velocity increased 5.there were no significant differences between the two groups, and no significant differences in mean peak torque increase rate between the groups with increased knee flexor velocities after training 6.H/Q ratio increased with increased knee flexor velocities between the two groups, but not statistically And there was no significant differences between the groups with increased knee flexor velocities 7.After training, Ambulation time and its decreasing rate decreased significantly in group B (P<.05) 8Before and after training, there was no significant differences between the groups in the fatiguability 9. In the multiple regression analysis, mean peak torque increase rate of the knee extensor and flexor were higher in group B than A(P<.05), and significantly higher with increased knee flexor velocities (P<.05) Also, training method influenced on Ambulation times decreases significantly(P<.05). Results indicated that knee flexor isokinetic training was effective to knee extensor and flexor mean peak torque increase in the hemiplegia able to walk independently for more than 10 meters. Therefore, we were able to conclude that gradual training from low to high velocity was more effective in the increase of mean peak torque of knee joint and decrease of Ambulation times than training only at high velocity.
The aim of this study is to present the basic reference data Effect of uneffected side insole on Gait Pattern in Hemiplegia Patients. The basic gait parameters were extracted from 10 Adult Hemiplegia Patients, 5 left Hemiplegia Patients and 5 right Hemiplegia Patients, 50 to 60 years of age using VICON 512 Motion Analyzer. The results were as follows; 1) The mean Cadence of the shoes to the 1cm insole in shoes were $70.58{\pm}12.67\;steps/min$, to $77.28{\pm}14.58\;steps/min$.(p>0.05) 2) The mean Walking Speed of the shoes to the 1cm insole in shoes were $0.40{\pm}0.17\;m/s$, to $0.49{\pm}0.18\;m/s$.(p>0.05) 3) The mean Stride Length of the shoes to the 1cm insole in shoes were $0.67{\pm}0.20\;m$, to $0.75{\pm}0.19m$.(p>0.05) 4) The mean anterior angles of pint on the pelvic tilt for different the shoes to the 1cm insole in shoes were $13.22{\pm}7.25^{\circ}$, to $11.68{\pm}4.02^{\circ}$.(p>0.06) 5) The mean maximal angles of pint on the hip flexion motion for different the shoes to the 1cm insole in shoes were $24.62{\pm}8.35^{\circ}$, to $24.74{\pm}9.12^{\circ}$.(p>0.05) 6) The mean maximal angles of joint on the knee flexion motion for different the shoes to the 1cm insole in shoes were $34.27{\pm}16.71^{\circ}$, to $35.93{\pm}18.22^{\circ}$.(p>0.05) insole in shoes were $15.97{\pm}7.72^{\circ}$, to $18.77{\pm}11.03^{\circ}$.(p>0.05) 7) The mean maximal angles of joint on the ankle dorsiflexion motion for different the shoes to the 1cm. 8) The mean maximal angles of joint on the ankle plantarflexion motion for different the shoes to the 1cm insole in shoes were $-4.24{\pm}10.66^{\circ}$, to $-7.04{\pm}11.00^{\circ}$.(p<0.05)

Police agency is indicated that the number of children's traffic accident is tending downwards, however about one child is dead every day due to traffic accident. Major parts of the accidents happen during walking; among the rest, jaywalking is the biggest reason. Many accidents take plate on the road to school or near the home so government legislate children safeguard zone at 1995. According to the legislation, drivers have to reduce speed and there are safety facilities for children at children safeguard zone. This study finds the problems of children safeguard zone and suggest more effective and quantitative method for children safeguard zone. Firstly this study grasps the characters of children's pattern movement and children's traffic accident at children safeguard zone and then divides specific danger factors of children's traffic accident at children safeguard zone. Secondly, each factor is given danger level depending on danger degree and suggests effective method for assignment standard of children safeguard zone using all of these things.
Objective : The purpose of this study was to examine the changes in work performance and motor function of stroke patients in the Lee Silverman Voice Treatment-BIG (LSVT-BIG) program and to confirm its clinical applicability. Methods : Two stroke patients underwent the LSVT-BIG program for a total of 16 sessions (60 minutes per session and, four days a week for four weeks). To assess any changes between before and after the intervention, the Canadian Occupational Performance Measurement (COPM), Berg Balance Scale (BBS), Timed Up and Go (TUG), Functional Reaching Test (FRT), Manual Function Test (MFT) were used. Differences in scores between before and after the intervention were analyzed. Results : The performance and satisfaction of occupational performance increased after the intervention in both subjects. The performance time of the TUG decreased to 0.91, 8.42 seconds for each subject, increasing the walking speed. In FRT distance change, the subject increased in both the affected side and unaffected side. The BBS score increased by 3 points in one subject and by 6 points in the other, indicating improved balance. In addition, in the MFT score, subject A showed an improvement of 1 point on the unaffected side, and subject B showed an improvement of 1 point on the unaffected side and 3 points on the affected side. Conclusion : We confirmed the applicability of the LSVT-BIG program as a new intervention technique for stroke patients. Future, complementary research on the effects of the LSVT-BIG program on stroke patients will be needed.

Objective: The purpose of this study was to systematically review the articles using accelerometer to measure activity of daily living of patients with stroke. Methods: Depending on selection criteria, 13 studies were searched for PubMed, EMBASE, and Cochrane library database from February 2014 to March 2014. A total of 331 papers were searched, and 13 of these were selected. Results: In studies of 13 selected, acute, subacute, and chronic patients with stroke were enrolled. The kind of accelerometer was uniaxial, biaxial, and triaxial, activity monitor. Measurement activities were mainly arm activity, walking activity, and attachment sites were also various depending on the measurement activities. A measured variable was the total number of activities, the movement speed of the patients, ratio between affected and non-affected, and motion analysis. The result indicated that significant correlation with the other assessment tools in all studies. Conclusions: Accelerometer will be applied with a tool for measuring activity of daily living of patients with stroke, depending on activities characteristics. Further, we need accelerometer studies to apply with a variety of assessment in clinical practice or community settings.
Seoul metropolitan government has introduced Bus Rapid Transit (BRT) systems in some major urban corridors on July 1st, 2004, and has reported that it was successful on the ground that bus speed has been increased in the corridors with BRT system and that it has also resulted in the increase of bus patrons. However, there comes a negative claim that BRT has increased the number of fatalities in the same corridors. This study first aims at developing safety evaluation indicators of pedestrian crossings, then compares values of those indicators from pedestrian crossings with and without BRT systems. The safety evaluation indicators of pedestrian crossing are developed as: the number (or ratio) of conflicts between pedestrians and vehicles, the number (or ratio) of vehicles violating pedestrian signals, the number (or ratio) of pedestrians remaining crossings at red signals, and the number (ratio) of pedestrians walking beyond crossing areas. When we compare values of these indicators for both pedestrian crossings with and without BRT system, it has turned out that crossings with BRT systems has more number of conflicts than the crossings without BRT systems, but it cannot be said that the ratio of conflicts will be different between two crossing types. It means that the number of conflict will increase as the number of pedestrians and vehicles in the crossings. When we note that BRT system intrinsically attract more number of pedestrians who get-in or get-off bus stops, we cannot said that BRT system will be safer for pedestrians.
One of important protecting skill is securing the minimum safe distance from potential hazard to protect protectee in the emergency situation, that is basic thing for the detailed security in relation to the walking formation and the distance between protectee and crowed. This thesis is to provide the idea on the scientific countermeasure in the gun attack situation, by presenting logic on the reaction time and it's moving distance, on the safe distance between protectee and crowed. Handball goal keeper's reaction time of 0.33seconds is applied, because handball goal keeper's reaction style is very similar to security agent's reaction style. And 4m/sec of record is applied, that is average speed of 'go and return type run of 40m' to calculate it's moving distance. Several researches show that reaction time could be improved by continuing training, similarly security agents could improve their reaction time, providing better reaction skill. The important thing is that it make big difference in the protecting result, although the shortening of reaction time is too slight. Securing safe distance between protectee and crowed and the distance between protectee and security agent could provide effective reaction environment with 'natural protective wall effect' by security agent
Socket pressure distributions with gait analysis of a trnsfemoral and a transtibial prostheses were measured in order to assess an optimal socket fitting and function. Ankle joint was aligned by the neutral and the dorsi/plantar flexed positions. Compared to dorsi and plantar flexed positions of ankle joint, cadence and walking speed increased with the neutral ankle joint alignment. Other gait parameters were close to the normative data with the neutral ankle joint alignment. For the transfemoral amputee, dorsiflexed alignment of the ankle joint created high pressure on the lateral aspect of the socket, on the other hand, plantarflexed alignment resulted in increased pressure on the medial aspect of the socket. For the transtibial amputee, dorsiflexed alignment of the ankle resulted in high pressure on the antero-lateral aspect of the socket during mid-stance, but apltarflexion of the ankle joint showed slight increases in pressure at the same location in the socket. The present study clearly demonstarted that malalignment of a prosthesis results in localized increasesing pressure within the socket. Proper slignment of the prosthesis is required in order to acquire an appropriate socket-limb interface as well as the proper gait.
