Addressing and Routing Method for Zigbee Network Expansion (Zigbee 기반 네트워크의 확장을 위한 어드레스 방식과 라우팅 방법)

  • Zigbee is a universal communication standard used in USN and is utilized in various applications. Zigbee protocol provides an address within a single PAN network, and at this time, it uses DAA. This is a method that divides a 16-bit address area into blocks with a fixed size according to the depth to assign one to each node. However, this method is limited because it has to assign addresses in 16 bits. As the depth increases, the number of nodes also increases exponentially to the maximal number of routers provided to each depth. Therefore, it is difficult to construct a huge network with numerous routers and large depth as in the places which are wide or have many shadow areas. Besides, since all the operations are performed in a single PAN network, it is hard to make several PANs into a single network. This article suggests new addressing and routing methods that can construct several PAN networks into a single network and combine broad area with less limitation in the number of routers and depth by extending the Zigbee-based network. Moreover, this paper has tested its performance and has verified its usability through substantive tests.

A Study on Pseudo-random Number Generator with Fixed Length Tap unrelated to the variable sensing nodes for IoT Environments (IoT 환경에서 가변 센싱 노드들에 무관한 고정 길이 탭을 가지는 의사 난수 발생기에 관한 연구)

  • As the IoT world including WSNs develops, the number of sensor systems that sense information according to the environment based on the principle of IoT is increasing. In order to perform security for each sensor system in such a complicated environment, the security modules must be varied. These problems make hardware/software implementation difficult when considering the system efficiency and hacking/cracking. Therefore, to solve this problem, this paper proposes a pseudorandom number generator (FLT: Pseudo-random Number Generator with Fixed Length Tap unrelated to the variable sensing nodes) with a fixed-length tap that generates a pseudorandom number with a constant period, irrespective of the number of sensing nodes, and has the purpose of detecting anomalies. The proposed FLT-LFSR architecture allows the security level and overall data formatting to be kept constant for hardware/software implementations in an IoT environment. Therefore, the proposed FLT-LFSR architecture emphasizes the scalability of the network, regardless of the ease of implementation of the sensor system and the number of sensing nodes.

  • Recently, wireless communication technology and state of art miniaturization has enabled the wireless sensor network with Smart Environmental sensors. The sensor network is a new field which has been researched vigorously in the ubiquitous computing and Ad-hoc network. How to efficiently use the limited energy in this USN(Ubiquitous sensor Networks) has been debated recently. We utilized the Directed Diffusion and Gossiping concept which is based on the Large scale Glass greenhouse and present a method to prolong the lifespan of the sensor network by operating variable time based this routing information on the average energy leftover. In this paper, we present a method to minimize the energy consumption of sensor node within Glass greenhouses and ensure a stable network operation at the same time through energy efficient routing among sensor nodes.

Design and Implementation of Network Self-Configuration Based on Bluetooth (Bluetooth 기반 네트워크 자동형성 설계 및 구현)

  • Numerous researches on network self-configuration have been conducted on Wireless Sensor Network (WSN) and Ad Hoc network but the results have not been applied yet for factory automation. This paper presents development of intelligent process management systems conducting process monitoring and control irrelevant to physical position of a plant operator. The systems are indispensable for diagnosis of rotating machines which cannot exploit wired network. The system was implemented in a Personal Digital Assistant (PDA) using Bluetooth communication protocol. When a mobile terminal reaches to communication range of the process management server, the server detects the mobile terminal to reconfigure plant network automatically. The server authenticates a user of the terminal to download and installs monitoring and control program considering authorized level of the user. If the terminal leaves communication range of the server, it deletes the node from the network and removes the program automatically to save resources and prevent security problems such as missing terminal. Operation of developed functions was verified in a testbed emulating steel-making plant.

  • We have developed a 128-bit stream cipher algorithm composed of the 5-stage pipeline, capable of real-time processing, confidentiality and integrity. The developed stream cipher is a stream cipher algorithm that makes the final 128-bit ciphers through a whitening process after making the ASR 277 bit and SHACAL-2 and applying them to the CFB mode. We have verified the hardware performance of the proposed stream cipher algorithm with Modelsim 6.5d and Quartus II 12.0, and the result shows that the hardware runs at 33.34Mhz(4.27Gbps) at worst case. According to the result, the new cipher algorithm has fully satisfied the speed requirement of wireless Internet and sensor networks, and DRM environment. Therefore, the proposed algorithm with satisfaction of both confidentiality and integrity provides a very useful ideas.

LECEEP : LEACH based Chaining Energy Efficient Protocol (에너지 효율적인 LEACH 기반 체이닝 프로토콜 연구)

  • LEACH, one of hierarchical based routing protocols, was proposed for energy efficiency which is the most important requirement of Wireless Sensor Network(WSN). LEACH protocol is composed of a cluster of certain large number of clusters, which have a cluster head and member nodes. Member nodes send sensing data to their cluster heads, and the cluster heads aggregate the sensing data and transmit it to BS. The challenges of LEACH protocol are that cluster heads are not evenly distributed, and energy consumption to transmit aggregated data from Cluster heads directly to BS is excessive. This study, to improve LEACH protocol, suggests LECEEP that transmit data to contiguity cluster head that is the nearest and not far away BS forming chain between cluster head, and then the nearest cluster head from BS transmit aggregated data finally to BS. According to simulation, LECEEP consumes less energy and retains more number of survival node than LEACH protocol.

  • A research for middleware of WSN can provide sensor applications with avoiding tight coupling of hardware, ease of development, and abstract data access. However, previous works have some limitations which should install their own middleware onto the all sensor nodes resulting in computational and communication overhead. In order to address it, we proposed a virtual sensor overlay network, called TinyONet-Lite which introduced virtual sensors to model a virtual counterpart of physical sensors. These virtual sensors dynamically grouped into an overlay network, Slice, which provides middleware services. We implemented TinyONet-Lite on mote class hardware with TinyOS. In accordance with experiments and comparison with existing researches, TinyONet-Lite was proved to show advantages of extensibility, dynamic service composition and reducing overhead.

  • The group management system with Wireless Sensor Network and android application is proposed in this paper. The proposed system was composed of personal devices with sensor nodes of WSN, manager device of android platform, and the web server. The sensor node used by each group member send a data packet to the manager device every 2 seconds. The leader device displays and transmits entire information to the web server. The web server represents these information through web page. Therefore, guardians can assure their group member's safety and security on the web page. The RSSI value of each sensor node converted by computed log-normal path loss model into distance value and displays on the manager device and the web page.

  • Recently, environmental problems have been deteriorating rapidly. Therefore, there is an urgent need to establish policies and research in the conservation of the global environment. Many researchers are studied in environment systems to prevent and reduce pollution of water, air and soil actively. In this paper, several parameters such as temperature, humidity, illumination, barometric pressure, dew point, water quality data, and air conditions are collected and transmitted thorough wireless sensor network. The field server is located in the coastal and marine area so that any abrupt changes can be detected quickly. In addition, WSN based flooding routing protocol for efficient data transmission is designed to support and monitor information of climate and marin factors.

  • This paper proposes to increase the node energy effienciecy, which rapidly drops during the transmission of LEACH (Low Energy Adaptive Clustering Hierachy), using the method of DL-LEACH (Dual-hop Layered LEACH). By introducing dual-hop method in the data transmission, the proposed single-hop method for short-range transmission and multi-hop transmission method between the cluster heads for remote transmission was introduce. By introducing a partial multi-hop method in the data transmission, a single-hop method for short range transmission method between the cluster heads for remote transmission was introduces. In the proposed DL-LEACH, the energy consumption of cluster head for remote transmission reduces and increases the energy efficiency of sensor node by reducing the transmission distance and simplifying the transmission routine for short-range transmission. As compared the general LEACH, it was adapted to a wider sensor field.
