Structures and Characteristics of the WDF Using VGIC for VLSI Implementation (전압변환 GIC에 의한 WDF의 VLSI 실현에 적합한 구조 및 특성)

  • A new method for designing of WDF(Wave Digital Filter) is proposed, which is based on the digital dependent port adaptor transformed by the VGIC(Voltage Conversion Generalized Impedance Converter). To design the WD-LPF, WD-BPF, WD-HPF, or WD-BRF with CGIC(Current Conversion GIC). we have to use the different structure respectively. But the proposed method to design any types of WDF requires only one universal WDF structure, and this structure is attractive for its VLSI implementation for its simplicity.

Maximization of Dynamic Range in Wave Digital Filter (웨이브 디지탈 필터의 동적범위 최대화)

  • The scaled WDF should be optimized from the point of view of dynamic range. Transformer scaling method is attempted to maximize the dynamic range by equalizing the gains in the different nodes of the WDF. In this paper, the dual network and different frequencies are used to study the effects of different topology and of sampling frequency. Comparing with the unscaled WDF, the most significant observation is that the SNR is improved in the range of 7 to 35 dB in the WDF scaled by the trasnsformer scaling method. In addition, the SNR shows a continuous drop with the increase of sampling frequency, but scaling effects seem to decrease the rate at which the SNR drop.

  • A phase-retardation function which was derived from Wigner distribution function (WDF) is used to increase a focal depth of a radially symmetric optical system. The WDF for one-dimensional signal is represented as a two-dimensional function of phasespace ($\chi,\zeta$), and a normalized irradiance is described as a form of the Strehl ratio (SR). The increase in the focal depth is accomplished by delivering a shearing tilt a that represents a characteristic of free space propagation with simple manipulation in the WDF space. In this paper we propose a method for evaluating the focal depth quantitatively by representing the phaseretardation function in terms of the focal depth term. In order to verify the validity of the proposed method, we compared the numerically analyzed result with that of J. Sochki's study. study.

  • Although waste oil derived fuel (WDF) production technology was developed under a government initiative ~10 years ago, it became stagnant owing to the small size of participating companies, residents' rejection of foul odor, and the nature of the technology for recycling waste that was avoided. However, this subject is under the spotlight again because of recent developments, such as garbage crisis. In particular, plastic is the most difficult waste to dispose of, with more than 4 million tons of plastic waste produced every year according to statistics from the Ministry of Environment. The most effective method for treating plastic waste is to produce WDF through low temperature thermal decomposition. The WDF includes several volatile ingredients that mostly limit the use of fuel for boilers, owing to safety concerns. In particular, flash point is legally stipulated because of secondary contamination in the distribution process and the risk of fire and explosion. It is required that external shipments (distribution) should be maintained in the range of at least 30~60℃ (excluding explosion prevention facilities) for diesel power generation. Therefore, this study seeks to find the flash point that is best suited to WDFs produced from plastic waste.

  • The development of diesel power generation is predominantly geared toward island areas or ships because diesel exhibits weak scale-merit characteristics and power quality problems, which are associated with environmental pollution. However, a new energy paradigm, distribution energy resource (DER), has been emerging as a renewable energy source due to the existing structural problems in waste disposal and complex factors such as the conversion technology of waste emulsified oil (WDF). By combining extended producer responsibility (EPR) support and renewable energy certificates (REC), including waste energy REC 0.25 for other bioenergy and REC 1.0 for power transactions, an adequate profit model can be built through self-energetic power generation, thereby drawing keen attention from related industries. Therefore, if WDF is used appropriately as a high-quality engine fuel, it can lead to the development of various fields such as novel renewable energy sectors, waste management, and EPR-related industries. This study is intended to produce WDF using plastic waste by using it as engine-generator fuel. Moreover, we investigate ways to improve the quality and suitability of WDF as an engine fuel.

  • In this paper the voltage controlled GIC is classified into two structures, one has the dependent port conductance and the other has the independent port conductance. Nine kinds of configuration for the WDF with two voltage controlled GICs have been found and the design method for WD-LPF has been shown as an example. Their hardware complexity and amplitude characteristics are nearly same as the existing ones, but amplitude error according to coefficient quantization is reduced to about 5% of the error in existing structures. As the result of the numerical analysis of the RPSD to check up the product quantization effect at the WDF output, four kinds of proposed structures have about 10dB less RPSD than existed ones for 6 bits .leq.B .leq.20 bits.

  • An 8-channel digital filter bank with wave digital filters(WDF) is studied. Wave digital filtwr is automatically a directional filter. Using these properties, a new method for organizing the 8-channel digital filter bank is proposed. This will lead to enormous savings in memories for the digital signal processign chip.

  • In the implementation of digital filters, the coefficient errors are occurred when filter coefficients are quantized by finite wordlength. They change the frequency responsed and output characteristics of the filters and therefore they become a main reason which could stimulate coefficient sensitivity especially in recursive filters. In this paper, we study the characteristics of coefficient sensitivity for WDF that is less effective to the coefficient errors. The simulation based on the method of fixed-point quantization demonstrates that the frequency responses of WDF have better preformance than those of conventional cascade IIR filter when variations of finite wordlength is considered.

Manufacturing Regenerated Woody Dyed Fiber from Waste MDF Using Natural Dyes

  • To assign the functionality of the regenerated fiber from waste MDF(wMDF) made of pitch pine, we examined the dyeing characteristics of natural dyes, sappan wood as a polychromatic natural red series, monochromatic gardenia as a yellow series, and indigo blue series. For nonemordanting dye, the colors of regenerated fiber dyed by sappan wood and gardenia were reddish yellow (YR) and yellow (Y) series, respectively, and dyeing conditions were appropriate a 30 ~ 50 g/L of dyeing materials at 60 ℃ for 60minutes of dyeing time. We obtained regenerated woody dyed fibers (Re-WDF), YR to the red (R) series by premordanting with Al and Cu mordant for sappan wood and the purplish red (RP) series by Fe premordanting. In the case of gardenia, only Y series colors were developed in nonemordanting dye or all three mordants. Indigo dye produced Re-WDF with greenish yellow (GY) tone at 1%, green (G) tone at 3%, and blue (B) tone at 5% concentration or more. Re-WDF with indigo showed the best light fastness followed by sappan wood and gardenia. In particular, the light fastness of Re-WDF with gardenia was very poor. The light fastness was somewhat improved by premordanting(Fe>Cu>Al) both sappan wood and gardenia dyes.

  • Among the various methods of realizing low sensitivity digital filters. LBR two-pair cascading is one which enables us to realize low sensitivity filter without referring to any analog prototype filters. In this paper we analyze the LBR cascade structures through the fundamental approach to them based on the WDF theory, and interpret their features described solely in the digital domain in relation to the corresponding analog circuit Besides, we derive in a unified manner various LBR constraints needed for the LBR cascade realization, point out the insufficiency lurking in the existing description of the Type 3 LBR constraints, complement it, and make the LBR two-pair cascading procedure complete.
