The antioxidant properties and protective effects of Inula britannica on ${H_2}{O_2}$-induced SH-SY5Y neuroblastoma cell damage were investigated. A series of solvent fractions, including hexane(Fr.H), petroleum ether, chloroform, ethyl acetate(Fr.EA), and water fraction(Fr.W), were prepared from the 70% methanol extracts of Inula britannica. Fr.W had the highest total contents of phenolics and flavonoids, followed by Fr.EA. The antioxidant properties of the fractions were also evaluated by analyzing their scavenging activities on 1,1-diphenyl-2-picrylhydrazyl(DPPH) radicals, 2,2'-azinobis(3-ethylbenzothiazoline-6-sulfonic acid) (ABTS) radicals, and nitric oxide. Fr.W showed the strongest activities in all assays. The concentrations of Fr.W that resulted in 50% reductions of the DPPH and ABTS radicals were 20.7 ${\mu}g$/mL and 39.4 ${\mu}g$/mL, respectively. Fr.W showed the weakest cytotoxic activities on the SH-SY5Y cells, whereas it effectively protected ${H_2}{O_2}$-induced cell death, increasing cell survival by 35.0-77.0% at a concentration range of 62.5-250 ${\mu}g$/mL. In this range, Fr.W also significantly decreased intracellular ROS levels by 34-39%. Overall, the antioxidant properties of Inula britannica can contribute to rescuring neuronal cells from oxidative stress-induced cell injury.
This study proposes an appropriate level of insulation standards by region through annual heating energy requirements according to regional climate. The reference buildings out of non-residential buildings approved by the energy saving design standard for buildings were derived in the previous study, in which the annual heating energy requirements for each building were as follows when the insulation standard for building members in four regions (Pyeongchang, Seoul, Gwang-ju, and Jeju) suggested by the energy saving design standard for buildings: $29.8kWh/m^2$ in Pyeongchang, $17.5kWh/m^2$ in Seoul, $14.4kWh/m^2$ in Gwangju, and $16.7kWh/m^2$ in Jeju. To satisfy the passive level of insulation standards for these buildings, in case that roof/floor of buildings in Pyeongchang and Seoul was $0.2W/m^2K$, the minimum window thermal transmittance should satisfy $0.9W/m^2K$ and the minimum wall thermal transmittance should satisfy $0.1W/m^2K$ in the case of Pyeongchang. On the other hand, the minimum window thermal transmittance should satisfy $1.5W/m^2K$ and the minimum wall thermal transmittance should satisfy $0.14W/m^2K$ in the case of Seoul. For Jeju regions, the minimum wall thermal transmittance should satisfy $0.34W/m^2K$ to meet the passive level of buildings. Based on the above results, the thermal transmittance of each member by region should take the outdoor climate condition of the region into consideration to satisfy the passive level of buildings.

Three hardwood (ash, alder and black locust) and three softwood (Japanese red pine, radiata pine and Western hemlock) specimens were dried in microwave(MlW) oven and their drying rates were obtained. Their specific permeabilities were also measured by using a modified liquid permeability measuring device. The correlation between the M/W drying rates and permeabilities of six species were statistically analyzed. It was revealed that within a species there is a logarithmic relationship between the M/W drying rates and average moisture contents and that among species there is a linear relationship between the M/W maximum drying rates and the average specific permeabilities. A exception was Western hemlock, which was of low permeability and of high drying rate. A Me-time equation, which showed a good agreement with the actual data, was derived. Thus using this equation the moisture contents of wood and the drying end points of M/W drying could be predicted. Infrared images of the thermal distribution in wood were illustrated.

Working depth of the model net was determined by using of the same experimental tank and the same model net that used in the forwarded report in a series studies. The depth of the net which indicates the depth of the head rope from the water surface, was determined by the photographs taken in front of the net mouth with the combination of towing velocity, warp length and distance between paired boats. The results obtained can be summarized as follows: 1. Working depth of model nets A and B was varied in the range of 0.09~1.66$m$,and 0.04~1.34$m$(which can be converted into 2.7~40.2$m$and 1.2~49.8$m$in the full-scale net) respectively, and the depth of model net A was slightly deeper than the depth of the model net B. 2. Working depth ($D$,which is appendixed m for the model net, f for the full-scale net, A and B for the types of the model nets) can be expressed as the function of towing velocity$V_t$, as in the model net($V_t$=$m$/$sec$) $D_{mA}$=(-1.99+0.65$L_w$) $e^{-1.72V_t}$ $D_{mA]$=(-1.91+1.04 $L_w$) $e^{2.88V_t}$ in the full-scale net($V_t$=$k$'$t$ $D_{fA}$=(-29.32+0.65$L_w$)$e^{0.40 V_t}$ $D_{fB}$=(-57.60+1.04$L_w$)$e^{-0.67 V_t}$ 3. Working depth 9$D$ appendixes are as same as the former) can be expressed as the function of warp length$L_w$) in the model net, and can be converted into full-scale net as in the model net ($V_t$=$m$/$sec$) $D_{mA}$=-0.99 $e^{-1.42V_t}$+0.67$e^{-1359V_t}$$L_w$ $D_{mB}$=-.258$e^{-3.77V_t}$+1.16$e^{-3.15V_t$ $L^w$, in the full-scale net($V_t$=k't) $D_{fA}$=-29.28$e^{-0.32V_t}$+0.67$e^{-0.37V_t$$L_w$ $D_{fB}$=-69.10$e^{-0.81V_t}$+1.16$e^{-0.72V_t}$$L_w$. 4. Working depth was gradually shallowed according to the increase of the distance between paired boats.
A Cr:LiSAF laser pumped by semiconductor lasers was constructed. The pumping laser was a high-power semiconductor laser (SDL 7432-H1) of wavelength 674 nm and maximum power of 500 mW. The laser crystal was a Cr:LiSAF of plano-Brewster shape with 3% Cr3+ion concentration and 3 mm in length. The plane facet of the crystal was coated to get the maximum transmittance of pupmping laser and maximu reflection over the 800 - 880 nm bandwidth. V-shaped resonator was used to compensate the astigmatism induced by the crystal. The output power of the Cr:LiSAF laser was 19.4 mW at the pumping power of 290 mW. The wavelength was tuned by a steep dive-angled birefringent filter from 840 nm to 880 nm and the characteristics of the filter were agreed well with a theory.
The effect of aqueous and alcoholic extract of the leaves of Ocimum. sanctum was studied on the spontaneous movements of the whole worm (w.w) preparation and nerve muscle (n.m.) complex of Setaria cervi (S. cervi) and on the survival of microfilariae (m.f.) in vitro. Both the extracts caused inhibition of the spontaneous motility of the w.w. and n.m. complex of S. cervi characterized by initial stimulation followed by reversible paralysis, aqueous extract at a higher concentration showed immediate effect and irreversible paralysis. The concentration required to inhibit the movements of n.m. complex was $1/4^{th}$ for aqueous and $1/3^{rd}$ for alcoholic extract compared to that for the w.w., suggesting a cuticular permeability barrier. On the m.f. the lethal concentration (LC 50 and LC 90) were 35 and 50 ng/ml for aqueous whereas, 60 and 85 ng/ml for alcoholic extracts respectively.

We use ALLWISE data release W1- and W2-band epoch photometry collected by the Wide-Field Infrared Survey Explorer (WISE) to determine slopes of the period-luminosity relations for RR Lyrae stars in 15 globular clusters in the corresponding bands. We further combine these results with V- and K-band photometry of Galactic field RR Lyrae stars to determine the metallicity slopes of the log $P_F-[Fe/H]-M_K$, log $P_F-[Fe/H]-M_{W1}$, and log $P_F-[Fe/H]-M_{W2}$ period-metallicity-luminosity relations. We infer the zero points of these relations and determine the kinematical parameters of thick-disk and halo RR Lyraes via statistical parallax, and estimate the RR Lyrae-based distances to 18 Local-Group galaxies including the center of the Milky Way.

This paper describes a miniaturezed metamaterial BT chip antenna for mobile devices. The size of the proposed antenna is $3.0\;mm(W){\times}2.0\;mm(L){\times}1.2\;mm(H)$. And it is fabricated by chip type. The zeroth-order resonant properties are analyzed by magnitude and phase distributions of the surface current using surface current scanning system. The antenna offers omni-directional radiation patterns and measured 3D average gain is over - 1.7 dBi.
Let R be a commutative ring. An R-module M is called a w-Noetherian module if every submodule of M is of w-finite type. R is called a w-Noetherian ring if R as an R-module is a w-Noetherian module. In this paper, we present an exact version of the Eakin-Nagata Theorem on w-Noetherian rings. To do this, we prove the Formanek Theorem for w-Noetherian rings. Further, we point out by an example that the condition (${\dag}$) in the Chung-Ha-Kim version of the Eakin-Nagata Theorem on SM domains is essential.
