  • To create an ultra-high vacuum state at the KSTAR, the temperature of plasma facing component and vacuum vessel should be maintained at $300^{\circ}C$ and $110^{\circ}C$ respectively at a baking phase. The purpose of this research is obtaining the target baking temperatures. Experiments were performed to investigate the temperature characteristics of PFC and VV at the baking phase. Thermal network analysis was used to find heat transfer rates among PFC, VV and other components, and this analysis was verified by using the experimental data. The required heating energy of the PFC and the heating and cooling energy of the VV for the target baking temperatures were found to be 346 kW, 28 kW, and 136 kW, respectively.

  • Various parametric methods, Larson-Miller (L-M), Orr-Sherby-Dorn (O-S-D), Manson-Haferd (M-H) parameters, and minimum commitment method (MCM), were used to predict longer rupture time from short-term creep data. A number of the creep data were collected through literature surveys and experimental data produced in KAERI for predicting the creep type of type 316LN SS. Polynomial equations for predicting the creep life were obtained by the time-temperature parameters (TTP) and the MCM. standard error (SE) and standard error or mean (SEM) values were compared for the each method with temperatures. The TTP methods were good in the creep-life prediction, but the MCM was much superior to the TTP ones at $700^{\circ}C\;and\;750^{\circ}C$. The MCM was found to be lower in the SE values compared to the TTP methods

  • YBCO bulks for levitation have fabricated using MPMG method. The superconducting properties and repulsive/attractive force against permanent magnet were investigated for the specimens annealed at various periods after MPMG. A linear induction motor type levitation - traveling vehicle using the pinning force of MPMG processed YBCO bulk has fabricated. The floating or hanging small vehicle mounted with two YBCO pellets was confirmed to travel stabley on the Nd-Fe-B permanent magnet track. The traveling speed of the vehicle was confirmed to depend on AC frequency linearly. At 200 Hz, the travel ins speed was found to be 110 cm/sec.

  • The Purpose of this study is to recycle the waste concrete, which is generated in huge quantities, from construction works. in order to achieve this goal, it is important to determine the compressive strength, workability, slump, and ultrasonic velocity of recycled aggregate concrete. Thus, several experiment parameters are considered, such as water-cement ratios, sand percentage, and fine aggregate composition ratios, in order to apply the recycled aggregate concrete to pre-cast artificial fishing reefs. From the results, it has been shown that the proper mix designs for reef concrete are W/C=45%, S/a=50%, SR50:SN50 in recycled sand and natural sand mix combination case, W/C=45%, S/a=50%, SC50:SN50 in crushed sand and natural sand mix combination case, W/C=45%, S/a=50%, SR50:SC50 in recycled sand and crushd sand mix combination case. Also, this study shows that the shape and surface roughness of fine aggregate particles have an effect on the strength, slump, ultrasonic velocity of tested concrete, and the compressive strength ratios of 7days' and 90days' curing ages of recycled aggregate concrete are about 70% and 110% of 28days' curing age.

  • Bis(diethyldithiocarbamato)ioxomolybdenum(VI), cis-MoO2(S2CNEt2)2, 1, reacted with chlorotrimethylsilane (Me33SiCl) to give a seven-coordinate, pentagonal bipyramidal complex MoOC12(S2CN]Et2)2, 3, in which the oxo ligand is trans to the chloride ligand and the two chloride ligands are mutually cis. The monooxo molybdenum complex bis(diethyidithiocarbamato)oxomolybdenum(IV), MoO(S2CNEt2)2, 2, reacted with phenyl isocyanate (PhNCO) to give an Mo dimer MO2{μ-N(CONPh)Ph}(μ-NPh)(NPh)2(S2CNEt2)2, 4, which contains an Mo-Mo bond, two diethyldithiocarbamato ligands, two terminal imido (NPh) ligands, and two bridging hnido (NPh) ligands. One of the two bridging NPh ligands seemed to have been attacked by the electrophilic phenyl isocyanate carbon, which suggests that the bridging imido NPh ligand is more nucleophilic than the terminal one. • The succinic semialdehyde dehydrogenase which is one of the key enzyme of GABA shunt in CNS has been purified from bovine brain homogeneously for the first time. The molecular mass of the native enzyme was estimated to be approximately 110,000 on gel filtration, The subunit molecular mass was determined by SDS-PAGE to be 54,000. These results indicate that the enzyme is a dimeric protein made up to identical subunits. Chemical modification studies of the enzyme suggest that the critical lysyl, connected with catalytic activity of the enzyme, The binding of IAF-SSDH(enzyme tagged with fluoreceine) to GABA transaminase which catalyzes the degradation of GABA was monitored by steady emission anisotropy. The changes of fluorescence anisotropy by interactions between two enzymes suggest that the formation of enzyme cluster must be invoved in the regulation of GABA concentration in brain tissues. The inhibitory effects of some antiepileptic and anticonvulsant drugs on the enzyme were also examined.

  • In this paper, we have performed a study that modifies the CPW Pad configurations to improve an $f_{max}$ characteristic of metamorphic HEMT. To analyze the CPW Pad structures of MHEMT, we use the ADS momentum simulator developed by $Agilent^{TM}$. Comparing the employed structure (G/W = 40/100 m), the optimized structure (G/W = 20/25 m) of CPW MHEMT shows the increased $S_{21}$ by 2.5 dB, which is one of the dominant parameters influencing the $f_{max}$ of MHEMT. To compare the performances of optimized MHEMT with the employed MHEMT, DC and RF characteristics of the fabricated MHEMT were measured. In the case of optimized CPW MHEMT, the measured saturated drain current density and transconductance $(g_m)$ were 693 mA/mm and 647 mS/mm, respectively. RF measurements were performed in a frequency range of $0.1{\sim}110$ GHz. A high $S_{21}$ gain of 5.5 dB is shown at a millimeter-wave frequency of 110 GHz. Two kinds of RF gains, $h_{21}$ and maximum available gain (MAG), versus the frequency, and a cut-off frequency ($f_t$) of ${\sim}154$ GHz and a maximum frequency of oscillation ($f_{max}$) of ${\sim}358$ GHz are obtained, respectively, from the extrapolation of the RF gains for a device biased at a peak transconductance. An optimized CPW MHEMT structure is one of the first reports among fabricated 0.1 m gate length MHEMTs.

  • This paper describes a $2{\sim}6GHz$ CMOS frequency synthesizer that employs only one LC-tank voltage controlled oscillator (VCO). For wide-band operation, optimized LO signal generator is used. The LC-tank VCO oscillating in $6{\sim}8GHz$ provides the required LO frequency by dividing and mixing the VCO output clocks appropriately. The frequency synthesizer is based on a fractional-N phase locked loop (PLL) employing third-order 1-1-1 MASH type sigma-delta modulator. Implemented in a $0.18{\mu}m$ CMOS technology, the frequency synthesizer occupies the area of $0.92mm^2$ with of-chip loop filter and consumes 36mW from a 1.8V supply. The PLL is completed in less than $8{\mu}s$. The phase noise is -110dBC/Hz at 1MHz offset from the carrier.

  • This paper presents on the development of a compact anti-lost device requested recently. The proposed device consists of the master and slave modules based on Bluetooth4.1 technology. To implement a low-power characteristic, an algorithm has been also developed. The transmitting and receiving circuits are designed by using BoT CLE110 module supporting Bluetooth 4.1. The ATmega 328P-AU was used for the control and LP3874EMP was used as a linear regulator. Power consumption of the fabricated product in operating mode is only 10mAh and 35mAh for MCU operating state. Alarm operation distance is $10m{\pm}30%$, the effective radiated power is less than 10mW, the frequency band is designed to operate in the Bluetooth band with 26MHz bandwidth. And algorithms have been developed to extend the battery life. The size of the product was obtained as $45{\times}45{\times}15mm$ for master and $35{\times}35{\times}10mm$ fr slave. After the optimization process, it is expected to be commercialized as a wristwatch for anti-lost device.

  • In this work, we experimentally investigated the solar absorption performance of Cu-based scalable nanostructured surfaces and compared their performance with the conventional TiNOX. We fabricated Cu-based nanostructured surfaces with a controlled chemical oxidation process applicable to a large area or complex geometry. We optimized the process parameters including the chemical compounds, dipping time and process temperature. We conducted both lab-scale and outdoor experiments to characterize the conversion efficiency of each absorber surfaces with single and double glazing setup. Lab-scale experiment was conducted with $50mm{\times}50mm$ absorber sample with 1-sun condition (1kW/m2) using a solar simulator (PEC-L01) with measuring the temperature at the absorber plate, cover glass, air gap and ambient. From the lab-scale experiment, we obtained ${\sim}91^{\circ}C$ and $94^{\circ}C$ for CuO and TiNOX surfaces after 1 hr of solar illumination at single glazing, respectively. To measure the absorber performance at actual operating condition, outdoor experiment was also conducted using $110mm{\times}110mm$ absorber sample. We measured the solar flux with thermopile detector (919P-040-50). From outdoor experiment, we observed ${\sim}123^{\circ}C$ and $131^{\circ}C$ for CuO and TiNOX with 0.6 kW/m2 insolation at double glazing, respectively. We showed that the suggested nanostructured CuO solar absorber has near-equivalent collection efficiency compared with the state-of-the-art TiNOX surfaces even with much simpler manufacturing process that does not require an expensive equipment.
