도로 망 데이터베이스를 위한 보로노이 기반의 탐색 방안 (Voronoi-Based Search Scheme for Road Network Databases)

  • 개인용 이동형 단말기의 개선된 성능과 비용, 그리고 무선 통신 기술의 비약적인 발전으로 인하여, 이를 이용하는 사용자들의 수가 빠른 속도로 늘고 있다. 그에 따라 사용자들에게 다양한 서비스를 제공할 수 있는 기술이 요구하고 있는 시점이다. 현재까지의 연구를 통해 사용자가 필요로 하는 최단 경로 찾기 등의 기술은 많은 연구가 이루어져 있다. 하지만 사용자의 현재 위치에 따라 여러 가지 추천 서비스를 제공할 수 있게 하는 기술은 우리가 필요로 하는 도로 망에서가 아닌 Euclidean spaces에 집중되어 있다. 따라서 우리는 기존의 연구를 확장시켜, 도로 망에서 이러한 요구를 충족시킬 수 있는 방법을 제안한다. 우리가 제안하는 시스템은 질의에 대한 응답을 하기 위해 전처리 단계를 필요로 한다. 이 단계에서는 먼저 전체 도로 망을 몇 개의 Voronoi 다각형으로 나누고, 나누어진 각각의 Voronoi 다각형들에 대한 정보를 계산한다. 이러한 과정에서 도로 망의 규모에 맞춰 자동으로 Voronoi 다각형의 개수를 결정하게 한다. 이를 통해 전체 도로 망의 크기가 변경되더라도, 전처리 단계 정보를 저장하는 공간이 예측 가능하도록 선형적으로 증가되게 하였다. 실제 질의 응답과정에서는 미리 계산된 정보를 이용하여 사용자들에게 빠른 속도의 서비스를 제공 할 수 있게 한다. 실험을 통하여 제안된 시스템이 도로 망에서 최근접 질의와 영역 질의를 효과적으로 처리 하여 탐색 시간과 방문 노드 수에서 많은 이점이 있음을 보인다.

  • Furniture design is no exception to human desire for pursuit of the nature. In various design fields, it has turned out nature-decorative method in the past, and also recently it has turned out bio-adaptive method which is more root design process using principal of generation in nature world. The purpose of this study is to analyze application methods and characteristics of fractal geometry and voronoi diagram which are most representative principals of generative design in nature by research on the example of furniture design using these principals. The results of having analyzed fumitures by generative design can be summarized as follows; design principals of fractal; superposition, scaling, repetition & gradation, deformation, distortion and voronoi diagram; individual speciation, variational patten, repetition gradation, ambiguous boundary create new design concept and emergent form in furniture design. Application methods are 'form emergence by algorithm', 'conventional process based on principals of generative design', and 'reproduction of pattern from generative design'. Biological reinterpretations and new explorations of principals of nature generation offer unbounded possibilities for furniture design.

차량경로 문제에 관한 보로노이 다이어그램 기반 타부서치 알고리듬 (A Voronoi Tabu Search Algorithm for the Capacitated Vehicle Routing Problem)

  • This paper focuses on the capacitated vehicle routing problem that determines the routes of vehicles in such a way that each customer must be visited exactly once by one vehicle starting and terminating at the depot while the vehicle capacity and the travel time constraints must be satisfied. The objective is to minimize the total traveling cost. Due to the complexity of the problem, we suggest a tabu search algorithm that combines the features of the existing search heuristics. In particular, our algorithm incorporates the neighborhood reduction method using the proximity information of the Voronoi diagram corresponding to each problem instance. To show the performance of the Voronoi tabu search algorithm suggested in this paper, computational experiments are done on the benchmark problems and the test results are reported.

세선화 기법을 이용한 전역 토폴로지컬 지도의 작성 및 위치추적 (Thinning Based Global Topological Map Building with Application to Localization)

  • Topological maps have drawn more attention recently because they are compact, provide natural interfaces, and are applicable to path planning easily. To build a topological map incrementally, Voronoi diagram was used by many researchers. The Voronoi diagram, however, has difficulty in applying to arbitrarily shaped objects and needs long computation time. In this paper, we present a new method for global topological map from the local topological maps incrementally. The local topological maps are created through a thinning algorithm from a local grid map, which is built based on the sensor information at the current robot position. A thinning method requires simpler computation than the Voronoi diagram. Localization based on the topological map is usually difficult, but additional nodes created by the thinning method can improve localization performance. A series of experiments have been conducted using a two-wheeled mobile robot equipped with a laser scanner. It is shown that the proposed scheme can create satisfactory topological maps.

$\beta$-Shape and $\beta$-Complex for the Structure Analysis of Molecules

  • To understand the structure of molecules, various computational methodologies have been extensively investigated such as the Voronoi diagram of the centers of atoms in molecule and the power diagram for the weighted points where the weights are related to the radii of the atoms. For a more improved efficiency, constructs like an $\alpha$-shape or a weighted $\alpha$-shape have been developed and used frequently in a systematic analysis of the morphology of molecules. However, it has been recently shown that $\alpha$-shapes and weighted $\alpha$-shapes lack the fidelity to Euclidean distance for molecules with polysized spherical atoms. We present the theory as well as algorithms of $\beta$-shape and $\beta$-complex in $\mathbb{R}^3$ which reflects the size difference among atoms in their full Euclidean metric. We show that these new concepts are more natural for most applications and therefore will have a significant impact on applications based on particles, in particular in molecular biology. The theory will be equivalently useful for other application areas such as computer graphics, geometric modeling, chemistry, physics, and material science.

그래픽 하드웨어를 이용한 분자용 보로노이 다이어그램 계산 (Voronoi Diagram Computation for a Molecule Using Graphics Hardware)

  • 본 논문에서는 주어진 단백질 분자에 대해 3차원 보로노이 다이어그램을 계산하는 알고리즘을 제안한다. 분자는 반경이 서로 다른 구의 집합으로 표현되며, 각 구의 반경은 원자의 반데르바스 (van der Waals) 반경에 대응한다. 보로노이 다이어그램은 3차원 공간을 복셀(voxel)의 집합으로 분할한 뒤, 보로노이 다이어그램을 포함하는 복셀을 보수적으로 추출함으로써 구성된다. 분자의 계층적 성질을 이용하여 BVH(bounding volume hierarchy)를 구성하고, CUDA 프로그래밍을 통하여 그래픽 하드웨어 가속을 활용함으로써 계산 시간 효율성을 높인다. 공간이 최대 $2^{24}$개의 복셀로 분할될 경우, 단일 코어 CPU로 구현하는 알고리즘에 비해 계산 속도가 323배 가량 향상 되었다.

보로노이 셀을 이용한 2 원 비등방성 폼 구조 모델링 및 탄소성 압축변형 해석 (Modeling of the Elasto-plastic Deformation Behavior of Two-Dimensional Anisotropic Foam under Compressive Loads using Voronoi Cells)

  • Foam structure is usually hard to model due to the complexity of the geometry of cells. So, many simplified models to represent complicated foam structures have been proposed, but most of them are not actually describe the random feature of the cell structure well. So, in this study, two dimensional isotropic and anisotropic closed cell structures of the foam were modeled using the concept of Voronoi cells. The elasto-plastic deformation behavior under compressive loads was investigated by finitie element analysis, and the results were compared with ideal honeycomb structure. In addition, the effect of anisotropy of Voronoi cell structures of the foam on Young's modulus and yield stress under compressive loads was studied.

Centroidal Voronoi Tessellation-Based Reduced-Order Modeling of Navier-Stokes Equations

  • In this talk, a reduced-order modeling methodology based on centroidal Voronoi tessellations (CVT's)is introduced. CVT's are special Voronoi tessellations for which the generators of the Voronoi diagram are also the centers of mass (means) of the corresponding Voronoi cells. The discrete data sets, CVT's are closely related to the h-means clustering techniques. Even with the use of good mesh generators, discretization schemes, and solution algorithms, the computational simulation of complex, turbulent, or chaotic systems still remains a formidable endeavor. For example, typical finite element codes may require many thousands of degrees of freedom for the accurate simulation of fluid flows. The situation is even worse for optimization problems for which multiple solutions of the complex state system are usually required or in feedback control problems for which real-time solutions of the complex state system are needed. There hava been many studies devoted to the development, testing, and use of reduced-order models for complex systems such as unsteady fluid flows. The types of reduced-ordered models that we study are those attempt to determine accurate approximate solutions of a complex system using very few degrees of freedom. To do so, such models have to use basis functions that are in some way intimately connected to the problem being approximated. Once a very low-dimensional reduced basis has been determined, one can employ it to solve the complex system by applying, e.g., a Galerkin method. In general, reduced bases are globally supported so that the discrete systems are dense; however, if the reduced basis is of very low dimension, one does not care about the lack of sparsity in the discrete system. A discussion of reduced-ordering modeling for complex systems such as fluid flows is given to provide a context for the application of reduced-order bases. Then, detailed descriptions of CVT-based reduced-order bases and how they can be constructed of complex systems are given. Subsequently, some concrete incompressible flow examples are used to illustrate the construction and use of CVT-based reduced-order bases. The CVT-based reduced-order modeling methodology is shown to be effective for these examples and is also shown to be inexpensive to apply compared to other reduced-order methods.

  • 본 연구의 주된 목적은 크게 두 가지로 나눌 수 있다. 첫째, 최근 수학적 모델링이 강조되는 상황에서 보로노이 다이어그램과 들로네 삼각분할을 주제로 영재교육을 위한 수학적 모델링 프로그램을 개발하는 것이다. 둘째, 본 연구에서 개발한 수학적 모델링 프로그램을 실제 영재교육 수업에 적용한 결과를 분석하여 수학적 모델링 수업을 설계하는 현직교사와 융합형 영재프로그램을 개발하는 영재교사에게 도움을 주고자 한다.
