이중 원심력 집진장치를 이용한 분진-가스 동시 처리 (Simultaneous Control of Dust and Gases Using a Double Centrifugal Device)

  • A large volume of work has been attempted to improve the separation efficiency of cyclone by establishing new design and optimum operation. An auxiliary device called Post Cyclone (PoC) has been introduced and tested in an earlier work (In order to reduce the emission of fine dust from the reverse flow cyclones). This work applies the PoC to remove the dust and gaseous elements using a centrifugal effect remained in the discharging flow over the cyclone. As a result of the experiment, the efficiency was found best at the high gas concentration and low inlet velocity.

Biofiter를 이용한 에틸렌 분해 (Degradation of Ethylene by a Biofilter)

  • The objective of this study was to investigate the biodegradation of ethylene in an biofilter inoculated with ethylene-oxidizing microorganisms. The biofilter performance was monitored in terms of ethylene removal efficiency and carbon dioxide production. The biofilter was capable of achieving the ethylene removal efficiency as much as 100% at a residence time of 14 min and an inlet concentration of 290 ppm. Under the same conditions, carbon dioxide with a concentration of up to 546 ppm was produced. It was found that carbon dioxide was produced at a rate of 87 mg/day, which corresponded to a volume of 0.05 L/day. Observable features of the ethylene-oxidizing microorganisms, meaning microbial activity occurrence in the biofilter, were investigated with the microscopy analysis.

  • During a last decade, detonative combustion is promising combustion mechanism of high-speed propulsion systems, but is more rigorously considered in these days as a game-changer for the improvement of thermodynamic efficiency of propulsion and power generation systems. Regardless of the skepticism about the pressure loss associated with the strong shock waves, it is shown that the additional compression by the strong shock wave exhibits increased thermodynamics efficiency that is not achievable by conventional compression systems. Present talk will give an introduction to the concepts and the recent activities on the pressure gain combustors (PGC) researches based on detonation phenomena.

An Isolated Soft-Switching Bidirectional Buck-Boost Inverter for Fuel Cell Applications

  • This paper presents a new isolated soft-switching bidirectional buck-boost inverter for fuel cell applications. The buck-boost inverter combines an isolated DC-DC converter with a conventional inverter to implement buck-boost DC-DC and DC-AC conversion. The main switches achieve zero voltage switching and zero current switching by using a novel synchronous switching SVPWM and the volume of the transformer in the forward and fly-back mode is also minimized. This inverter is suitable for wide input voltage applications due to its high efficiency under all conditions. An active clamping circuit reduces the switch's spike voltage and regenerates the energy stored in the leakage inductance of the transformer; therefore, the overall efficiency is improved. This paper presents the operating principle, a theoretical analysis and design guidelines. Simulation and experimental results have validated the characteristics of the buck-boost inverter.

  • The Backlight inverter used in the laptop computer is designed in this study. It has been difficult for electromagnetic transformer to enhance the efficiency and compact profile. In this study, (l) the piezoelectric transformer(PT) is used for reducing the loss: (2) the volume of core and winding coil are used in electromagnetic transformer, and (3) the zero voltage switching(ZVS) is used in the driver of the resonant circuit. The modified PT for this paper and the equivalent circuit are supported by the simulation program. ZVS is achieved by Half-Bridge inverter circuit. The result of the experiment shows more than 91% improvement in terms of the efficiency.

  • A variety of enterprises have Implemented ERP system on the promises of feasible strategic benefits. The objectives of this study are (1) to classily and analyze the motives and critical success factors o the enterprises'ERP system adoptions, and (2) to measure their impacts on the business performance. The data for this research were collected from 43 cases in Korea that have operated ERP system for more than 6 months after the implementation. This study results reveals that the Information strategic planning and business strategy establishment prior to ERP adoption and the demands of field people activate as critical triggers In the larger firms Among the six critical success factors, training was statistically significant for all of four performance measures control, cost reduction, quality and service, and work efficiency. And other findings are furnished. Also the larger company group In the sales volume has shown the higher performance except work efficiency.

오비터 진공펌프 성능해석 (Performance Analysis of Orbiter Vacuum Pump)

  • Orbiter mechanism has been applied to vacuum pump design for small oxygen generator where low vacuum of about 200mmHg is required. Performance of the designed vacuum pump has been numerically investigated: calculated volumetric and adiabatic efficiencies were 69.7% and 83.9%, respectively for leakage clearance of $10{\mu}m$. Total efficiency of the orbiter vacuum pump was 77.5%. At the shaft speed of 1700 rpm suction displacement volume of 6.3cc provided discharge flow at the rate of 2.3 liter/min with power consumption of 10.1Watt. Torque variation of the orbiter pump was only about 20% of that of diaphragm pump.

  • Optimization using a hybrid multi-objective evolutionary algorithm coupled with response surface approximation has been performed to improve the performance of a transonic axial compressor with circumferential casing grooves. In order to optimize the operating stability and peak adiabatic efficiency of the compressor with circumferential casing grooves, tip clearance, angle distribution at blade tip and the depth of the circumferential casing grooves are selected as design variables. Three-dimensional Reynolds-averaged Navier-Stokes equations with the shear stress transport turbulence model are discretized by finite volume approximations. The trade-off between two objectives with the interaction of blade and casing treatment is determined and discussed with respect to the representative clusters in the Pareto-optimal solutions compared to the axial compressor without the casing treatment.

  • In this paper, we investigated the diffraction grating efficiency on AsSeS and Ag-doped amorphous chalcogenide Ag/AsSeS thin film for used to volume hologram. The Chalcogenide film thickness was 0.5um and Ag thin film was varied from 10nm and 20nm. Diffraction efficiency was obtained from (P:P) polarized Diode Pumped Solid State laser(DPSS, 532.0nm: 200mW) beam on AsSeS and Ag/AsSeS thin films. As a results, diffraction grating was not formed at AsSeS thin film but at Ag-doped AsSeS thin film, diffraction grating was formed well compare with the former.

  • In this paper, the effect of modification of geometric variables on the performance of a centrifugal compressor blade has been studied numerically. The compressor contains six main blades and six splitter blades. Reynolds averaged Navier-Stokes (RANS) equations with shear stress turbulence (SST) model are discretized by finite volume approximations and solved on hexahedral grids for flow analysis. The design variables from blade lean angle at tip and middle of the blade have been modified. The isentropic blade efficiency and pressure have been predicted with the variation of the variables. Frozen rotor simulation is performed and adiabatic wall condition has been used. One of the six blades of compressor has been used for simulation to reduce the computational load. Optimum number of meshes has been selected by grid-dependency test, and this is used for all the simulations with changing geometric variables. The detailed flow analysis results have been reported as well as the effects of the variables.
