A coupled inductor-dual boost-inverter (CIDBI) with a differential structure has been presented for application to a micro-inverter photovoltaic module system due to its turn ratio of a high-voltage level. However, it is difficult to design a CIDBI converter with a conventional PI regulator to be stable and achieve good dynamic performance, given the fact that it is a high order system. In view of this situation, a sliding mode control (SMC) strategy is introduced in this paper, and two different sliding mode controllers (SMCs) are proposed and adopted in the left and right side of two Boost sub-circuits to implement the corresponding regulation of the voltage and current. The schemes of the SMCs have been elaborated in this paper including the establishment of a system variable structure model, selection of the sliding surface, determination of the control law, and presentation of the reaching conditions and sliding domain. Finally, the mathematic analysis and the proposed SMC are verified by experimental results.

This paper proposes a mode transition algorithm between the grid-tied and the stand-alone operations for the single-phase inverter with the energy storage system. For the grid-tied operation, the dc-link voltage and the output current are required to be control. For the stand-alone mode, both the output voltage and the output current should be regulated. In order to mitigate a falling-off in control performance during transients in mode change, the load power estimation and the current selection schemes are proposed. The proposed method allows an optimized current reference is selected to reduce an output voltage drop and an excessive over-current in transient. To verify the effectiveness of the proposed method, both the simulation and the experiments for a 3kW single-phase inverter with the energy storage system have been conducted. From the results, it has been confirmed that the proposed method reduces a transient error as well as implementing smooth mode transition.
Solar array simulator (SAS) is a special DC power supply that regulates the output voltage or current to emulate characteristics of photovoltaic (PV) panels. Especially, the control of SAS is a challenging task due to the nonlinearity in the output curve, which is dependent on irradiance as well as temperature and is determined by panel materials. Conventionally, both current-mode control and voltage-mode control should be alternated by partitioning the operating curve into multiple sections, which is not only for the measurement noise problem with the feedback sensing but also for the control stability issue near the maximum power point. However, the occurrence of transition among different controllers may deteriorate the overall performance. To eliminate the mode transitions, a novel single controller scheme has been introduced in this paper, where the reference operating projection technique enables simple, smooth and numerically stable control. Theoretical consideration on the loop stability issue is discussed and the performance is verified experimentally for the emulation of a PV panel data in view of stability and response speed.
Most LED drivers uses current control method to adjust LED current. Using AC power grid such as off-line converter, Buck topology is popular because input voltage of LED driver is much higher than LED output voltage. Normally DCM current control is more popular than CCM current mode control in the range of below 50W, But DCM characteristics are dependent on the input voltage variation. This paper deals with what should be considered in DCM for LED driver with valley fill circuit.

In this paper, the switching mode conversion type pulse charger by fly-back converter method for lead battery of the solar cell generator equipment is proposed. And we propose the control circuit and design method of insulated switching mode convert type pulse charger by fly-back convert method in the lead battery. The proposed system can minimize the current consumption by digital pulse. Also the proposed system can generate the constant 10[KHz] frequency, transmit the signal with main control system in the power control system. And it supervises the state of lead battery using one chip micro processor. The proposed the switching mode conversion type pulse charger by the fly-back converter method can charge fast and stabilize lead battery with nominal value 12[V], 20[AH]. Also we propose the design procedure of the power control circuit for turn ratio of fly-back inductor and determining method of values such as the charging current, bulk current, partial current, over current value and fixed charging voltage. The experiment results for the voltage and current wave for partial, bulk, over and fixed charging period show the good charging effect and performance. And the PCB and internal coupling diagram of the switching mode conversion type pulse charger by fly-back converter method is presented.
To enable a master-slave control independent microgrid system (MSCIMGS) to supply electricity continuously, the microgrid inverter should perform mode transfer between grid-connected and islanding operations. Transient oscillations should be reduced during transfer to effectively conduct a seamless mode transfer. This study uses a typical MSCIMGS as an example and improves the mode transfer strategy in three aspects: (1) adopts a status-tracking algorithm to improve the switching strategy of the outer loop, (2) uses the voltage magnitude and phase pre-synchronization algorithm to reduce transient shock at the time of grid connection, and (3) applies the hybrid-sensitivity $H_{\infty}$ robust controller instead of the current inner loop to improve the robustness of the controller. Simulations and experiments show that the proposed strategy is more practical than the traditional proportional-derivative control mode transfer and effective in reducing voltage and current oscillations during the transfer period.

Electric energy is consumed or regenerated according to an operation of electric rail cars in urban railway power substations. A thyristor dual converter system is used to deal with the electric energy. Since the AC input voltage of power substations is $22.9kV{\pm}10%$, the magnitude of the AC voltage fluctuates according to load conditions, so the secondary side voltage of the DDY transformer also fluctuates. In the thyristor dual converter, the response characteristics of the DC output voltage and the DC output current are changed based on an initial firing angle in the cross mode conversion between the forward mode and the reverse mode. Therefore, this paper proposes the initial firing angle tracking algorithm considering fluctuation of the AC input voltage. The effectiveness of the proposed algorithm is verified by a simulation compared with the conventional algorithm.
In this paper, high efficiency power management IC(PMIC) with DT-CMOS(Dynamic threshold voltage Complementary MOSFET) switching device is presented. PMIC is controlled PWM control method in order to have high power efficiency at high current level. The DT-CMOS switch with low on-resistance is designed to decrease conduction loss. The control parts in Buck converter, that is, PWM control circuit consist of a saw-tooth generator, a band-gap reference(BGR) circuit, an error amplifier, comparator circuit, compensation circuit, and control block. The saw-tooth generator is made to have 1.2MHz oscillation frequency and full range of output swing from supply voltage(3.3V) to ground. The comparator is designed with two stage OP amplifier. And the error amplifier has 70dB DC gain and $64^{\circ}$ phase margin. DC-DC converter, based on current mode PWM control circuits and low on-resistance switching device, achieved the high efficiency nearly 96% at 100mA output current. And Buck converter is designed along LDO in standby mode which fewer than 1mA for high efficiency. Also, this paper proposes two protection circuit in order to ensure the reliability.
The input impedances of pulse width modulated (PWM) dc-to-dc converters, which dictate the outcomes of the dynamic interaction between dc-to-dc converters and their source subsystem, are analyzed in a general and unified manner. The input impedances of three basic PWM dc-to-dc converters are derived with both voltage mode control and current mode control. This paper presents the analytical expressions of the 24 input impedances of three basic PWM dc-to-dc converters with the two different control schemes in a factorized time-constant form. It also provides a comprehensive reference for future dynamic interaction analyses requiring knowledge of the converters' input impedances. The theoretical predictions of the paper are all supported by measurements on prototype dc-to-dc converters. The use of the presented results is demonstrated via a practical application example, which analyzes the small-signal dynamics of an input-filter coupled current-mode controlled buck converter. This elucidates the theoretical background for the previously-reported eccentric behavior of the converter.

This study proposes a new solution for the parallel operation of microgrid inverters in terms of circuit topology and control structure. A combined three-phase four-wire inverter composed of three single-phase full-bridge circuits is adopted. Moreover, the control structure is based on adaptive three-order sliding-mode control and wireless load-sharing control. The significant contributions are as follows. 1) Adaptive sliding-mode control performance in inner voltage loop can effectively reject both voltage and load disturbances. 2) Virtual resistive-output-impedance loop is applied in intermediate loop to achieve excellent power-sharing accuracy, and load power can be shared proportionally to the power rating of the inverter when loads are unbalanced or nonlinear. 3) Transient droop terms are added to the conventional power outer loop to improve dynamic response and disturbance rejection performance. Finally, theoretical analysis and test results are presented to validate the effectiveness of the proposed control scheme.
