$\gamma$선조사에 의한 B종절연재료의 전기적 특성변화에 대한 실험적 연구 (The experimental study of $\gamma$ ray irradiation effect on electrical properties of B-kind insulator)

  • The main focus of this paper is on the study of the .gamma. ray irradiation effect upon the electrical properties of a B-kind insulator which is one of the inorganic insulators. The mica is so typical of the B kind insulators as to be selected for a sample. DC, AC, and Impulse voltage is applied to the variable .gamma. ray irradiated dose samples with the constant time duration and the time variable samples with the .gamma. ray irradiated dose. The dielectric breakdown voltage and dielectric constant are measured from the samples and we get the experimental data that the dielectric breakown voltage variations are relatively large, but the dielectric constants are almost constant. The above conclusion is useful for the selection and application of the inorganic insulators under the irradiation effects, and we expect that the conclusion can apply to not only B-kind insulators but also the inorganic insulators.

  • 이 논문은 지연 시간 및 화질 제약이 있는 비디오 응용을 위한 에너지 최적화 기법을 제안한다. 이는 두 가지 핵심 기법 - 프레임 생략 기법 및 버퍼링 기법 - 으로 구성되어있다. 버퍼링은 운영 체제 수준에서 유휴 시간 이용률을 증가시키고, 프레임 생략은 응용 수준에서 유휴 시간 자체를 증가시키며, 양쪽 모두 동적 전압 조절 기법의 효과를 향상시킨다. 이 논문에서는 제안한 기법을 적용하기 위해 H.263 부호기 응용을 사용한다. 실험에서는 제안한 기법이 주어진 지연 시간 및 화질 제약을 만족하면서 괄목할 만한 에너지 절감을 얻을 수 있음을 보인다.

  • PD pulses have about one nanosecond rise time in the $SF_6$ gas insulation. These pulses propagate in the apparatus to PD sensors in the form of the voltage oscillation, high frequency current and the electromagnetic radiation. In this paper, we investigated the characteristics of two types of PD sensors, by putting high frequency signals in the form of sine waves and pulse into the test apparatus in air. Also, we measured PD quantity from the needle electrode and the sensitivity of the sensors. We found that PD of 70pC could be detected with this method and the study in $SF_6$ gas should be carried out for application to $SF_6$ GIS.

  • Inverter-fed induction motors (IFM) are prevalent in traction vehicles. However, the winding insulation of IFM is substantially more stressed than of line-powered motors by surge voltages. Consequently, the winding insulation of IFM should be estimated by surge voltages. Also, the weakness of coil insulation can be detected by the surge voltage test. This paper described the insulation evaluation of induction motors by application of surge voltages. A surge voltage generator with the maximum voltage of 5 kV and the selectable rise-time in ranges of $50\;ns\;{\sim}\;500\;ns$ was fabricated. In the experiment, we applied surge voltages into induction motors with the magnitude and the risetime according to IEEE 522. By the analysis of applied surge voltage and current waveforms, we could find difference between normal and defection windings.

BESS 모델링 및 전기철도 급전계통에의 전압보상 적용 (BESS Modeling and Application to Voltage Compensation of Electric Railway System)

  • The load of electric railroad can generate voltage fluctuation in the electric railway system because of high speed of the electric railroad and frequent movement and stop. This voltage fluctuation of electric railway system can cause not only voltage imbalance but also harmonic in the utility grid. Therefore the electric railroad system is in need of the reactive power compensation, such as static synchronous compensator (STATCOM) and static var compensator (SVC). Especially, the battery energy storage system (BESS) can control the real and reactive power at the same time. In this paper, the electric railway system using BESS has been modeled to show its voltage compensation effect using Matlab/Simulink.

  • The popularity of augmented reality (AR) applications and games are in high demand. Currently, the best common platform to implement AR services is on a smartphone, as online games, navigators, personal assistants, travel guides are among the most popular applications of smartphones. However, the power consumption of an AR application is extremely high, and therefore, highly adaptable and dynamic low power control schemes must be used. Dynamic voltage and frequency scaling (DVFS) schemes are widely used in smartphones to minimize the energy consumption by controlling the device's operational frequency and voltage. DVFS schemes can sometimes lead to longer response times, which can result in a significant problem for AR applications. In this paper, an AR response time monitor is used to observe the time interval between the AR image input and device's reaction time, in order to enable improved operational frequency and AR application process priority control. Based on the proposed response time monitor and the characteristics of the Linux kernel's completely fair scheduler (CFS) (which is the default scheduler of Android based smartphones), a response time step control (RSC) scheme is proposed which adaptively adjusts the CPU frequency and interactive application's priority. The experimental results show that RSC can reduce the energy consumption up to 10.41% compared to the ondemand governor while reliably satisfying the response time performance limit of interactive applications on a smartphone.

A PDPWM Based DC Capacitor Voltage Control Method for Modular Multilevel Converters

  • This paper presents a control scheme with a focus on the combination of phase disposition pulse width modulation (PDPWM) and DC capacitor voltage control for a chopper-cell based modular multilevel converter (MMC) for the purpose of eliminating the time-consuming voltage sorting algorithm and complex voltage balancing regulators. In this paper, the convergence of the DC capacitor voltages within one arm is realized by charging the minimum voltage module and discharging the maximum voltage module during each switching cycle with the assistances of MAX/MIN capacitor voltage detection and PDPWM signals exchanging. The process of voltage balancing control introduces no extra switching commutation, which is helpful in reducing power loss and improving system efficiency. Additionally, the proposed control scheme also possess the merit of a simple executing procedure in application. Simulation and experimental results indicates that the MMC circuit together with the proposed method functions very well in balancing the DC capacitor voltage and improving system efficiency even under transient states.

  • Motor bus transfer involves the process of transferring a bus that has several critical motors to an alternate source of power when the main normal power source feeding them is interrupted. Bus transfer is a time-critical application in which the transfer progress depends on various parameters such as the type of motor, load on the motor at the time of transfer, inertia of the motor, and the combined open-circuit time constant of various motors present on the bus at the time of transfer. This paper present the result of modeling and simulation of nuclear power motor bus using ETAP(Electrical Transient Analyzing Program) program for motor and motor bus residual voltage decay characteristics.

  • The performance of a commercialized power system stabilizer (PWX-600) for a single hydro-turbine generator and infinite bus system has been investigated using Real Time Digital Simulator (RTDS) in this paper. The test system was composed of RTDS, three phase voltage/current amplifier and the PSS. The test scheme provided a very efficient way to verify the design and control performance of a PSS to be applied to real power system. The scheme can also be applied to verify in real time the performance of hardware and software of power system controllers for FACTS and protective relays effectively.

컴퓨터 응용 부하들을 위한 전압 외란 검출 방법 (A Voltage Disturbance Detection Method for Computer Application Lods)

  • 컴퓨터와 같은 민감한 부하를 전압강하나 정전과 같은 전원 장애로부터 보호하기 위하여 전력보상장치가 설­치되어 왔다. 전력보상장치의 경우 계통과의 연계를 위해 대부분 정지형 스위치를 이용하고 있으며, 이러한 정지형 스위치의 전환동작은 매우 중요한 부분을 차지하고 있다. 그간 전략보상장치의 구조나 제어에 관한 연구는 활발하게 진행되어 왔으나 전력보상장치의 운전을 시작하기 위한 전원 장애의 감지에 판한 연구는 매우 드문게 현실이다. 따라서 본 논문에서는 정지형 스위치 절환동작을 위해 CBEMNITIC 커브를 이용하여 컴퓨터 응용부하판 위한 새보운 전원 장애 검출 암고리즘을 제안한다. 제안된 검출 알고리즘은 동기 좌표계에서 직류 값으으 변환된 삼상 순시 전압값을 동작 기준값과 비교하는 방법을 사용하여 빠른 검출 시간을 가지도록 하였다. 그리고, 간단한 1차 디지텔 필터를 삽입하여 잡음에 강인하도록 선거하였다. 이러한 필터에 의해 나타나는 위상지연 및 이득감소를 각각 전달함수를 이용한 수식적인 해석과 오차의 정규화를 통해 보상하였다. 마지막으로 ACSL를 이용한 시뮬레이션파 실험을 통해 제안된 알고리즘의 타당성을 입증하였다.
