Analysis of Stability on Single-leg Standing by Wearing a Head Mounted Display

  • Objective: The purpose of this study was to investigate the effects of three visual conditions (eyes opened, eyes closed, and wearing of a head mounted display [HMD]) on single-leg standing through kinematics and kinetic analysis. Method: Twelve college students (age: $24.5{\pm}2.6years$, height: $175.0{\pm}6.4cm$, weight: $69.2{\pm}5.1kg$) participated in this study. The study method adopted three-dimensional analysis with six cameras and ground reaction force measurement with one force plate. The analysis variables were coefficient of variation (CV) of the center of body mass, head movement, ground reaction force, and center of pressure, which were analyzed using one-way analysis of variance with repeated measures according to visual conditions. Results: In most cases, the results of this study showed that the CV was significantly higher in the order of HMD wearing, eyes closed, and eyes opened conditions. Conclusion: Our results indicated that body sway was the largest in the HMD wearing condition, and the risk of falling was high owing to the low stability.

알칼리-골재 반응에 의한 콘크리트 포장 팽창 장기 모니터링 (Long-term Monitoring of Expansion of Cement Concrete Pavement Affected by Alkali-Aggregate Reaction)

  • PURPOSES: This paper describes the expansion caused by the alkali-aggregate reaction (AAR) in concrete pavement currently in service. It also discusses the effects of joints installed to release the stress induced by the AAR expansion. METHODS: The expansion effect on concrete pavement was verified by a visual inspection and long-term measurement of the joint width of a cut-section. The behaviors of 16 newly installed joints were monitored as part of the investigation and long-term monitoring was carried out for three years after cutting. RESULTS: The behavior of a bridge was affected when AAR occurred in the connected pavement. The newly installed joints shrank in the longitudinal direction of the bridge after cutting. The width of the joints decreased over the six months after cutting. A large portion of the joint width (8.5cm) was found to have closed nine months after cutting. It had ultimately shrunk by about 92 percent when the final measurement was taken. CONCLUSIONS : The expansion of the pavement due to AAR was quantitatively described by visual inspection and the long-term monitoring of the newly cut joints. However, the width of the new joints decreased over the six to nine months after cutting. Additional research should be conducted to determine a means of controlling the expansion due to AAR in the pavement.

  • This thesis aims to analyze the visual perceptual effects drawn by 'axial composition and divergence' and to interpret the architecture of Kahn in respect of 'axial composition and divergence'. Axial composition of the form, the location of the entrance and divergence of internal movement were checked up about 53 works by extracting parti which is basic element of spatial composition. The 3D modeling simulation was performed for the selected 10 works in order to analyze the visual perceptual effect due to divergence of the internal movement. The reaction of the observer's actions and visual perception by 'axial composition and divergence' is presented in the following steps. 1. Divergence of the entrance/a panorama of expanding planes. 2. Divergence of internal movement/The process of perception of visual rotation and central spatial form. 'Perceptive form' created by 'divergence' is the result of diverse and flexible series of processes which must be experienced in person in order to reach the space as a room with a definite domain and center.

운전자 시력기준에 의한 도로표지의 글자크기 결정 연구 (Determination of Letter Size of Traffic Sign depending on Driver's Visual Acuity)

  • 현재 고속도로 도로표지의 글자 세로규격은 22~60cm로서 다양한 크기로 규정되어 있으나 글자 크기에 대한 산정근거를 찾을 수가 없고 운전자가 도로표지 정보를 정확하게 판독할 수 있는지 확인할 수가 없다. 운전면허시험에서 운전자가 갖추어야 할 시력은 0.5이상으로서 도로표지 글자크기도 운전자 최소시력인 0.5를 기준으로 설계되어져야 한다. 따라서, 최소시력 0.5의 운전자가 현행 도로표지 글자를 아무 문제없이 판독할 수 있는 지 검토가 필요하고 도로표지 글자크기를 결정할 수 있는 방법론 연구가 필요하다. 본 연구는 도로표지 글자 크기를 결정하는 방법론에 관한 연구로서 운전자 시각(시력), 제한속도, 행동판단시간, 편도차로수를 고려하여 시나리오를 설정하고 각 시나리오별 도로표지 글자크기를 결정하여 제시하였다. 고속도로 4차로 및 6차로 고속도로에서 행동판단시간 2.0초와 2.5초를 기준으로 시력 0.5인 운전자가 도로표지 글자를 효율적으로 판독하기 위해서는 글자크기 47 ~ 89cm 정도가 필요한 것으로 분석되었다. 고속도로 도로표지의 기존 글자크기는 운전자 최소시력을 기준으로 볼 때 작아서 판독하기가 어려운 것으로 분석되었다. 본 연구에서 개발된 방법론은 운전자 시력을 고려함으로써 도로표지 설계시 인적요인을 고려하였다는 점과 도로표지 글자 크기산정에 대한 근거를 제시하였다는데 그 의의가 있다.

  • This paper presents the key idea of handlebar reaction force and pedal resistance force generation in creating life-like feeling in KAIST bicycle simulator. Also, it provides methods to evaluate its reality level with given reaction force profile. In KAIST bicycle simulator, the pedal resistance force and the handlebar reaction force are calculated using the bicycle dynamic model. With the information handlebar angle, rider´s pedaling torque and road profile transmitted from the handlebar system, the pedal system and the visual part, the bicycle dynamics engine calculates the handlebar reaction force and the pedal velocity. 만성적 유기용제 폭로로 인한 조선업 도장공들의 신경행동학적 영향에 관한 연구 (Neurobehavioral Effects of Chronic Exposure to Organic Solvents among Dock Yard Painters)

  • Across sectional study was performed to evaluate the chronic effects on central nerve system(CNS) of cumulative exposure of complex organic solvents, using neurobehavioral test. Subjects were 66 (male) dock yard painters of some large ship industry which is located in Ulsan. The neurobehavioral test battery used in this study was NCTB (Neurabehavioral Core Test Battery recommended by WHO(World Health Organization), which consisted of 7 items-Profile of mood states (POMS), Simple reaction time, Santa Ana dexterity test. Digit span, Digit symbol, Benton visual retention test and Pursuit aiming. The subjects were classified by 3 groups according to duration of employment(group 1 ; less than 9 years, group 2 ; 10-14 years, group 3 ; more than 15 years). The results of performance were analyzed considering of work duration, age, educational level, alcohol drinking, smoking and testing time as confounding factors. Benton visual retention test, pursuit aiming correct dot and sum of dot showed significant differences among the groups, and decreased with increasing work duration. It indicated that the mean scores of performance ability were lowering according to work duration. Besides, the tests that didn't show statistical significances but showed linear trends were depression-dejection, vigor, fatigue of POMS, slowest time of simple reaction time and digit span forward. Most of the neurobehavioral test items were correlated with age and educational level. After controlling of confounding factors-age and educational level, the results followed ; digit span backward was different significantly. Tension-anxiety, depression-dejection, anger-hostility of POMS, SD and slowest time of simple reaction time, Santa Ana dexterity test non-preferred hand, digit span forward, Benton visual retention test and pursuit aiming correct dot decreased with increasing of work duration. The correlation analysis was done in order to find out the relationship between subjective symptom and the scores of neurobehavioral core test battery. According to the results of analysis there were no items that had statistical significant relationship(p<0.05).

도로경관의 시각적 특성 및 선호도에 관한 연구 -청주시 주진입로를 대상으로- (A Study on the Visual Character and Preference of Roadscape -In Case of the Main Entrance Road in Chongju-)

  • The purpose of this study was to figure out visual character and preference of roadscape for the main entrance road in Chongju. We took 9.6km which was from the Chongju interchange of Kyungbu expressway to Sangdang park and was thought to have a peculiar characteristics. This main entrance road was seperated into 4 parts according to arranging patterns of roadside trees and buildings. To investigate the visual characters, the sementic differential scale experiment was used. The visual characters, the sementic differential scale experiment was used. The visual preference was examined by analyzing visual volume of 4 factors. The results of the study based on these analyses were as below : 1. Factors that compose the visual characters of roadscape were classified by the emotional factor, the individual factor and the physical factor. These 3 factors showed a64.14% total variance. Among 3 factors the emotional factor which represented psychological reaction was appreciated to be the highest and the physical factor was assessed to be the lowest. 2. 24 items in total 14 adjectives showed the following ranking of mean values in sementic differential experiment : Road I -->RoadIII-->RoadII-->RoadIV. The mean values between Road I and RoadIV showed a significant difference, which can be explained to be a contrast between the natural factor and the artificial factor. 3. The mean value of the visual preference was the highest at Road I and the lowest at Road IV. While Road II and Road III showed 3.51 and 4.71, respectively. 4. The effect of 4 factors on visual preference was analyzed by regression as follows : Visual preference =1.2983+0.0627 + 0.0230+0.0203, R-Square=0.5

시각적 패러독스에서 이미지와 텍스트의 상관관계 -폭스바겐 광고 사례의 분석을 중심으로- (Relationship between Images and Text in the Visual Paradox -Focusing on Case Studies of Volkswagen Ads-)

  • 사람들은 다양한 미디어에 노출되고 있다. '디지털 혁명' 이후 미디어의 양적 팽창은 빠른 속도로 이루어지고 있다. 미디어의 팽창으로 인해 광고는 수용자의 반응을 이끌어내기 위한 노력이 필요하다. 수용자의 반응을 이끌기 위한 노력으로써 수사적 표현이 사용된다. 본 논문은 수사적 표현 중 시각적 패러독스에 주목하였다. 시각적 패러독스의 특성인 의도적인 모순이나 모호성은 수용자의 반응을 유도하는 효과적인 표현 수단이기 때문이다. 본 논문은 패러독스에 대한 논리학적 정의 및 유형 구분을 기반으로 하여 시각적 패러독스에 대해 정의하였다. 또한 광고에서의 시각적 패러독스는 이미지와 텍스트의 관계성이 중요한 역할을 한다고 판단하여, 메타언어를 통해 이미지와 텍스트의 의미작용을 위한 상관관계를 밝혀내고자 하였다. 이러한 연구 과정의 증명을 위해 폭스바겐 자동차 광고 사례를 분석하였다. 사례 분석을 통해 이미지와 텍스트가 상호 작용하여 새로운 의미를 생성한다는 것을 확인하였다.

여자 체조, 피겨 및 프리스타일 선수의 동적자세 유지능력의 비교 (Ability to Maintain Dynamic Posturography in Gymnastic, Free style skier, and Figure skater)

  • 본 연구는 지속적인 곡예 운동이 여자 체조, 프리스타일 스키어 및 피겨 스케이터 선수의 동적자세 유지 능력에 미치는 영향을 분석하고자 하였다. 이 연구에 참여한 피험자는 운동경력이 4-6년 된 운동선수로서 체조선수 7명, 프리스타일 스키어 선수8명, 피겨 스케이터 7명과 일반 여학생 10명을 통제집단으로 분류하였다. 동적자세의 운동능력을 비교하고자 뉴로컴사의 동적자세측정기를 이용하여 6가지 각 조건에 맞는 이른바, 시각계, 전정계 및 체성감각계가 동원되는 상황을 연출하면서 실험에 임하였다. 자료처리는 일원변량분석을 실시하였고, 사후검증으로는 집단 간의 차이를 보고자 Scheffe로 하였고, 통계학적 유의수준은 .05로 하였다. 연구결과 운동집단 간에는 조건 5에서 프리스타일 선수와 체조선수 간의 유의한 차이가 있었으며, 운동선수 집단과 일반인 여학생 간에는 조건 2, 3, 4, 5, 6에서 유의한 차이가 나타났다. 결론적으로 지속적인 곡예 운동은 평형기관계를 자극하여 동적자세 조절의 향상에 효과가 있는 것으로 사료된다.

시각 - 촉각 일치된 마중형 햅틱 제시 시스템의 사용자 평가 (User Evaluation of Encountered Type Haptic System with Visual-Haptic Co-location)

  • 산업안전을 위한 가상훈련시스템들 중 마중형 햅틱 제시 시스템에서는 가상 및 실제 물체 사이의 자연스러운 상호 작용을 위해 시각-촉각 일치가 필요하며 이를 위해 캘리브레이션이 수행된다. 본 논문에서는 어느 정도의 시각-촉각 일치를 구현한 몰입형 VR 햅틱 시스템의 사용자 평가를 수행하였다. 평가의 목표는 실제 및 가상환경에서 수행하는 일정한 과업들에 대해 두 환경에 대한 사용자 성능 (반응시간 및 거리 정확도)이 크게 다르지 않다는 것을 보이는 것이다. 사용자 평가 결과는 반응 시간에서 통계적으로 유의한 차이가 보이지만 절대 차이는 1초 미만이며 거리 정확도는 가상 환경과 실제 환경 간에 차이가 없는 것을 보여준다. 따라서 개발된 햅틱가상훈련시스템은 값비싼 실제 환경을 대신하여 저렴하게 산업안전 훈련을 할 수 있다고 사료된다.
