KP AGENT를 이용한 기술정보공간의 구축 (ICPIS Construction using KP Agent)

  • 이용자의 학술정보 데이터베이스의 기능을 보충하는 새로운 지식표현 패러다임으로 기술정보공간(ICPIS: Information Communication Papers Intelligent Surveyor)을 제안한다. 이것은 기술정보로부터 자동적으로 구축되어 그 중에서 이용자가 자유롭게 탐방 할 수 있는 정보 공간이다. 구축방법과 탐방기능을 명확히 하여 실 시스템을 구축, 평가하는 것이 연구의 목적이다. 이를 위해 ICPIS는 Keyword로 기술된 논문군을 입력하여 논문내용의 항목별 요약, 유사논문의 시각적 표시와 비교, 인과관계의 추출을 시작으로 논문의 요약정보, Survey정보를 사용자에게 제공한다. ICPIS에서 중심적 역할을 나타내는 것은 KP(Knowledge Piece)로 불리고, 이는 기술정보의 추출법과 구조화법을 일체화한 Domain지식의 패키지이다. ICPIS는 KP별로 기술된 Keyword에서 자연언어처리에 해당되는 기술정보를 논문 중에서 추출하여 KP에서 규정된 요약구조로 생성한다.

시각적 MMN(vMMN)의 분석을 통한 한국어 글말의 무의식적인 인지과정 연구 (Automatic cognitive processing of korean written language as indexed by visual MMN(vMMN))

  • ERP의 일종인 MMN(Mismatch Negativity)은 언어의 청각 인지정보 처리과정(central auditory processing)을 규명하는 데 유용한 수단으로 이용되어 왔다. 그런데, 최근의 연구들은 이러한 MMN이 청각 자극뿐만 아니라 시각 자극에 의해서도 검출될 수 있음을 밝혀냈다. 본 연구는 이러한 시각적 MMN을 이용하여 뇌에서 이루어지는 한국어 화자의 무의식적인 한국어 문자 정보처리과정을 규명하려고 시도하였다. 본 연구에서는 한국어의 글말 최소쌍 '므'/'모'와 '므'/'무', 이에 대응되는 비언어자극 '+ㅡ'/'+ㅗ'와 '+ㅡ'/'+ㅜ'(+표시의 아래에 모음을 붙여서 만든 인공문자, 그림1 참고)를 수동적(passive) Oddball paradigm으로 제시하고 언어 자극에 대한 EEG를 비언어자극과 비교 하에 측정, 분석하였다. 본 연구의 결과, 언어자극과 비언어자극 모두에서 시각적 MMN이 검출되었다. 하지만, 언어자극의 시각적 MMN이 비언어자극의 시각적 MMN보다 높게 나타남을 확인하였다. 이는 한국어 모국어화자들이 무의식적인 인지과정에서 언어자극이 갖는 물리적인 시각 정보뿐만 아니라 한국어 문자의 언어적 정보도 함께 처리하고 있음을 보여주는 것이다. 본 연구의 결과들은 한국어 글말의 무의식적인 인지처리과정을 밝혀주는 한편, 한국어 문자가 인지과학에서 갖는 중요한 지위를 보여줄 수 있을 것으로 기대된다.

Progress Report : Quantifying and Classifying Peculiarity of Cluster Galaxies

  • In the LCDM paradigm, hierarchical merging is thought to play a key role in the formation and evolution of massive galaxies. Theoretical and observational studies suggest that massive galaxies started forming at high redshifts and were assembled via numerous mergers. Galaxy clusters are the sites where the most massive galaxies are found and the most dramatic merger histories are embedded. The previous work of Sheen et al. (2012) identified via visual inspection many massive galaxies with merger features in clusters, which surprised the community. In this study we aim to quantify peculiarity of galaxies to pin down the merger frequency in cluster environments more objectively. We have performed optical deep imaging of 4 Abell clusters by using IMACS f/2 on a Magellan Badde 6.5-m telescope. For the galaxies in our data, we applied GALFIT algorithm, which fits analytic models to galaxy data, and we analyzed their residuals. We present the preliminary results of our sample galaxies.

  • We discuss development of a simulator for automated manufacturing systems (AMSs) which have sophisticated automated material handling equipments and complicated work flows. The simulator is designed to satisfy the following requirements. A user should be able to easily configure or specify an AMS through a graphical user interface (GUI) and minimal data input. The user should be able to model diverse and complied control logic for automated material handling systems like automated guided vehicle (AGV) systems, robot workcell systems and conveyor systems as well as complicated job flow program. Real time animation is desired. Finally, the simulator should be easily maintained and extended. To satisfy the requirements, we use an object-oriented paradigm for modeling, designing, and programming of the simulator. We use an object-oriented modeling framework to design the modeling elements library, and take the process interaction approach for scheduling processes and events. To model a user-defined diverse control logic, we also develop a script language and its interpreter. We explain design and implementation strategies. We implement the simulator using Visual C++ 4.2 and Open GL on Windows NT and the Windows95. Some modeling examples will be demonstrated.

스페인문화정체성을 통해 본 가우디의 건축 및 디자인 - 가톨릭 문화와의 연계성을 중심으로 - (Gaudi's Architectural Designs from Perspective of Spanish Cultural Identity - Focusing on Its Relationship with Catholic Culture -)

  • This study investigates and analyzes Catholic cultural traits in Gaudi's architectural designs on the assumption that the cultural identity of Spain has been built heavily on Catholic cultural tradition. Through examining thoroughly six residential buildings Gaudi designed, Catholic cultural traits were found in their interior ornaments, space formation, and expression of form. This study shows, first, that by making good use of interior ornaments, Gaudi sought to Catholic cultural uniformity among buildings that have different cultural characteristics. Second, with regard to space formation, he tended to build a chapel or an oratory inside structures which encouraged residents to worship in their home. Also, as for expression of form, his designs, expressing Catholic cultural features in various ways, succeeded to form visual uniformity among buildings and structures with a variety of styles. Lastly, by using properly Catholic cultural elements explained above and making those traits easily recognized even from a long distance, his architectural works represent very well the importance of Catholic culture as a foundation of Spain culture.

통합적 농촌경관 평가모델 개발 및 적용 - 전북 고창선동권역을 대상으로 - (Developing Rural Landscape Evaluation Model and Its Application to Gochang-Seondong Region, Korea)

  • This study has intended to build a rural landscape evaluation model based on an integrated landscape assessment paradigm of rural region using an additive integration index method and applied the model to the Seondong Region of Gochang-gun, Jeollabuk-do, Korea. To reach this goal, this study developed a model to calculate Integrated Landscape Assessment Index. The model has employed the Objective Landscape Index, the Subjective Landscape Index, and the weighted values, and was applied to the Seondong region. This study has found the following results: 1) forests and water spaces were assessed with relatively better visual preferences and better landscape ecosystem; 2) the historic cultural area and scenic agriculture as well as general farm land were assessed with moderate ratings; and, 3) the villages included in development plan, their adjacent arable farming land, and the village watercourses were forming relatively poorer landscape.

The New Definition of Creative Leadership in the Communication Design Industry - Focused on the 4th Industrial Revolution

  • The aim of this paper is to discuss how designers lead and direct 'technology-driven society' using their creative communication skill. To this end, it is required for communication designers to take conscious steps to recognize the future direction of their profession. Despite the advancement in technology, there is a human being at the center of all design activities. From a certain point of view, contemporary communication design takes an open-ended exploration of the subject matter, rather than a finished output. The notion of creative leadership may potentially expand more in terms of improving the methodology of today's visual culture. The paper will examine creative leadership that could be proposed by the challenge of discourse upon the upcoming industrial revolution. Today, communication designers are confronted by new leadership opportunities and challenges. Some leading designers seem to focus on brand new media technologies to prepare the 4th industrial revolutions. However, communication design cannot be discussed in the medium but can be understood as a process. Top-down and bottom-up process is always a concerned about the relationship since the focus of leadership has changed. In the top-down process, the leadership has existed between 'designer and client' because designers have played their role as a problem solver. On the other hand, there is a different model of leadership between 'design and technology' based on bottom-up process, which stem from the design authorship. In this regard, the new definition of creative leadership in the $4^{th}$ industrial revolution proposes a designer as a problem-finder based on the relationship between the 'designer and the public'.

  • In this study, we developed the service that can efficiently making friends among college students in metaverse world. Metaverse technology has recently emerged as an important topic across the industry.' The development of virtual and augmented reality technologies, which have emerged as a new paradigm to drive the next generation of the Internet, is bringing us closer to the metaverse world. Metaverse is spreading around the gaming, entertainment, music, and content industries[1]. In particular, as non-face-to-face transitions have accelerated since the COVID-19 outbreak, lifestyles and industrial sites are rapidly changing beyond untacting to metaverseization, a three-dimensional virtual space. After discovering the needs of users through surveys and interviews, the research method added functions to the service that matched those needs. Users were pleased that they could make friends who matched their preferences and tastes, play like a game in a virtual world called metaverse, and customize their avatars to their liking. It was also very fresh to customize the goods so that they could be gifted and kept by themselves.

New approach of using cortico-cortical evoked potential for functional brain evaluation

  • Cortico-cortical evoked potential (CCEP) mapping is a rapidly developing method for visualizing the brain network and estimating cortical excitability. The CCEP comprises the early N1 component the occurs at 10-30 ms poststimulation, indicating anatomic connectivity, and the late N2 component that appears at < 200 ms poststimulation, suggesting long-lasting effective connectivity. A later component at 200-1,000 ms poststimulation can also appear as a delayed response in some studied areas. Such delayed responses occur in areas with changed excitability, such as an epileptogenic zone. CCEP mapping has been used to examine the brain connections causally in functional systems such as the language, auditory, and visual systems as well as in anatomic regions including the frontoparietal neocortices and hippocampal limbic areas. Task-based CCEPs can be used to measure behavior. In addition to evaluations of the brain connectome, single-pulse electrical stimulation (SPES) can reflect cortical excitability, and so it could be used to predict a seizure onset zone. CCEP brain mapping and SPES investigations could be applied both extraoperatively and intraoperatively. These underused electrophysiologic tools in basic and clinical neuroscience might be powerful methods for providing insight into measures of brain connectivity and dynamics. Analyses of CCEPs might enable us to identify causal relationships between brain areas during cortical processing, and to develop a new paradigm of effective therapeutic neuromodulation in the future.

Multimedia Document Databases : Representation, Query Processing and Navigation

  • Information systems for application areas like office automation, customer service or computer aided manufacturing are usually highly interactive and deal with complex document structures composed of multiple media formats. For the realization of these systems, nonstandard database systems, which we call document databases, need to handle different types of coarse-and fine-grained document objects(like full-text documents, graphics and images), hierarchical and non-hierarchical relationships between objects(like composition-links and cross-references using hypertext structures) and document attributes of different types such as formatting/presentation information and access control. In this paper, we present the underlying data model for document databases based on descriptive markup languages that provide mechanisms for specifying the logical structure(or schema) of individual documents stored in the database. We then describe extensions to the data model for supporting notion of composite structures("join" operators for documents) --composition and hyperlinking mechanisms for representing compound documents and inter-linked documents as unique entites separate from their components. Furthermore, due to the interactive nature of the application domains, the database system in conjunction with clients(or browsers) has to support visual navigation and graphical query mechanisms. We describe the functionality of a new user interface paradigm called HyBrow for meeting the above mentioned requirements. The underlying implementation strategy is also discussed.discussed.
