A Study on Spatial Aesthetic Characteristics in Modern Fashion Converged with Virtual Reality Technology -Focusing on Fashion Shows, Fashion Exhibitions, and Fashion Design Apps- (가상현실 기술과 융합된 현대패션에 나타난 공간적 미학 특성 연구 -패션쇼, 패션전시, 패션디자인 앱을 중심으로-)

  • With the continuous development of artificial intelligence using computers in the Fourth Industrial Age, the virtual space created by virtual reality experiences boosted by the power of artificial intelligence, provides a new experience for us. The purpose of this study is to explore the new aesthetics that the fashion industry provides to users in virtual space created by virtual reality technology. This research method is based on theoretical research on virtual reality technology and virtual space and constructs a research model applied to this research. The scope of this study is the application of virtual reality technology to fashion shows, fashion exhibitions, and fashion design apps on the website of professional virtual reality technology and fashion for the last five years from 2014 to 2019, which actively merged virtual reality technology with modern fashion. We will analyze the cases one by one. The results of this study are as follows. First, this study shows that the constructed virtual space of modern fashion using virtual reality technology creates three kinds of physical space, perceptual space, and imaginary space based on the commutative theory of virtual space formed by Swedish scholar J. $Widestr{\ddot{o}}m$. Second, virtual reality technology applied to fashion shows, fashion exhibitions, and fashion design apps is characterized by four aesthetic characteristics of presence, perceptual expansion, interactivity, and immersion in physical space, perception space, and imagination space.

  • Virtual reality technology is recognized as a next-generation technology and can create realistic environments like the real world and reproduce sensory experiences. And it is a cutting-edge technology that allows humans to experience the same real-world experience in a virtual world by computing the five senses with computers. Also Virtual reality is a technology that has the advantage of experiencing reality in cyberspace and is applied to content such as movies and games. However, many users who use virtual reality can feel cybersickness. And it especially in virtual reality games. This is an important issue for the virtual reality game industry to be resolved. Main symptoms of cyberscickness include dizziness, headache, and vomiting. Existing motion sickness and symptoms are similar, but the cause of cybersickness is different from traditional sickness. Therefore, this study uses virtual reality games and data from various organizations to determine the causes of cybersickness. Also, it intends to contribute to the development of the virtual reality game industry by presenting methods to supplement these problems.

  • Virtual reality technology can be defined as human-computer interface that makes virtual place of specific environments or situation is an interactive computer-generated experience taking place within a simulated environment. In order to combine virtual reality technology of domestic nuclear power industry, the R&D Project has been developing a virtual/augment reality system for nuclear power plant from April 2018 to March 2021. To effectively apply virtual reality technology of domestic nuclear industry, it is necessary to build virtual space similar to real environment. Therefore, This study is analysed 3d model status for nuclear power plant during the life-cycle, and suggested a method to build 3D cad model close to real environment.

Analysis of Learning Effect through the Development and Application of Virtual Reality(VR) Education Content for Radiology Students (방사선과 학생을 위한 가상현실 교육콘텐츠 개발 및 적용을 통한 학습효과 분석)

  • This study developed radiation therapy contents based on virtual reality technology and applied them to radiation students. A survey was conducted to analyze the relationship between learning effects and learning satisfaction to students who used virtual reality education videos to analyze their learning performance. 71 students radiology department were classified into two groups one that experienced virtual reality and the other that did not experienced virtual reality. We surveyed between the two groups analyzed self-directed learning, self-learning efficacy and learning satisfaction. As a result, the comparison between the two groups showed no difference between self-directed learning and self-learning efficacy. But the learning satisfaction was significant from 2.64±0.83 to 3.20±0.88 in the problem solving process for groups applying virtual reality contents. Therefore, learning satisfaction has improved experienced group virtual reality content and the materials for virtual reality education can be applied more efficiently in non-face-to-face lectures.

  • The purpose of this study is to investigate the features of inquiry activities using technology in the 2015 revised elementary science digital textbooks. For this, we analyzed the features of inquiry context and inquiry method presented in inquiry activities using three kinds of technology: Virtual experiment, virtual reality and augmented reality. As a result, firstly, the most common types of 77 inquiry activities were realistic type which shows the phenomenon actually and vividly as possible and realistic-abstract type which shows the phenomena with the abstract concepts. Second, the ways of using three technologies were different depending on the processes of inquiry and the sub-domains of science. For example, virtual experiment technologies were mostly used in the contents of physics and chemistry with the inquiry context of realistic-abstract type for investigating the relationship between variables of experiments and describing the phenomena mechanically. On the other hand, virtual reality and augmented reality techniques tended to be used more frequently in biology and earth science contents with the inquiry context of realistic type for observing and describing the phenomena. Finally, we discussed educational implications in terms of developing and applying technology-based inquiry activities.

  • We proposed a new system for the postural balance rehabilitation training. For the purpose, we used the virtual hiking system using virtual reality technology. We evaluated the system by measuring the parameters such as path deviation, path deviation velocity, cycling time, and head movement. From our results, we verified the usefulness of virtual reality technology in rehabilitation. Our results showed that this system was effective postural balance rehabilitation training device and might be useful as the clinical equipment.

  • Virtual manufacturing technology has been applied in actual production sites with the development of virtual reality technology. However, the current virtual manufacturing technology requires experts for application of the system. Furthermore, the sense of reality is diminished as the entire simulation is driven by virtual objects. In contrast, mixed reality can visualize virtual objects and an actual work place simultaneously, and thus the sense of reality of the virtual manufacturing simulation can be improved. This paper introduces a method that applies mixed reality in the manufacturing process, and proposes a method to adapt general safety sign post in the factory instead of a black square marker for visual fiducial recognition.

  • As the IT technology evolves, virtual reality technology has been developed so fast. Studies of virtual reality technology in various fields have been conducted. There are lots of applications of virtual reality such as education, military, medical, arts, entertainment, and so on. In this research, we applied virtual reality technology to the technical education, and developed various kinds of educational contents using virtual reality. We classified virtual contents into several categories and analyzed the properties and effects, and verified the educational effects of virtual training through the case analysis.

  • Recently, high-performance HMDs (Head-Mounted Display) are becoming wireless due to the growth of virtual reality technology. Accordingly, environmental constraints on the hardware usage are reduced, enabling multiple users to experience virtual reality within a single space simultaneously. Existing multi-user virtual reality platforms use the user's location tracking and motion sensing technology based on vision sensors and active markers. However, there is a decrease in immersion due to the problem of overlapping markers or frequent matching errors due to the reflected light. Goal of this study is to develop a multi-user virtual reality moving platform in a single space that can resolve sensing errors and user immersion decrease. In order to achieve this goal hybrid sensing technology was developed, which is the convergence of vision sensor technology for position tracking, IMU (Inertial Measurement Unit) sensor motion capture technology and gesture recognition technology based on smart gloves. In addition, integrated safety operation system was developed which does not decrease the immersion but ensures the safety of the users and supports multimodal feedback. A 6 m×6 m×2.4 m test bed was configured to verify the effectiveness of the multi-user virtual reality moving platform for four users.

  • In this study, in line with the era of the fourth industrial revolution, general concepts, technologies, trends, and examples of virtual reality and augmented reality were examined, and based on this, a plan that could be applied to libraries in the future was proposed. As a result of the study, first, it is necessary to construct a smart space as an experiential play space that can satisfy cultural desires transcending time and space by providing immersive contents using 4th technology such as VR and AR. Second, it is necessary to expand experiential cultural support services through VR, AR and MR. Third, to develop educational contents based on augmented reality technology. In order to apply and activate virtual reality and augmented reality in libraries in the future, based on a survey of librarians and users of public libraries, a survey on the application status, satisfaction, and demand of current public libraries should be conducted.
