B-ISDN(Broadband-Integrated Services Digital Network)의 출현으로 주문형 비디오(Video On Demand: VOD) 서비스는 차세대 유망한 영상 정보 서비스로 관심의 대상이 되고 있으며, 대화성의 정도에 따라 크게 IVOD(Interactive VOD)와 NVOD(Near VOD) 서비스로 분류된다. 다계층 구조 서비스망에서 VOD 서비스를 하기 위해서는 여러 자원이 필요하겠지만 본 연구에서는 비디오 서버, 프로그램, 그리고 저장창고로 두고, 프로그램 전송 비용, 프로그램 저장 비용, 그리고 비디오 서버 설치 비용을 최소화하는 자원 최적화 문제를 두 가지 형태로 나누어 그 해결 방법을 제시하였다. 첫째는 VOD를 IVOD로만 서비스 하는 경우 서비스 운용 비용을 최소화하는 비디오 서버의 위치 선정과 설치된 비디오 서버에 저장할 프로그램 종류와 그 양을 결정하는 문제로, 이를 효과적으로 해결하기 위해 동적계획법을 이용하였다. 둘째는 VOD서비스를 보다 경제적으로 제공하기 위해, VOD를 IVOD와 NVOD의 혼합 서비스로 제공하는 경우 서비스 운용 비용을 최소화 하는 NVOD프로그램의 종류와 그 양 그리고 그 때의 IVOD서비스를 위한 비디오 서버의 위치 선정 및 설치된 비디오 서버에 저장 시킬 프로그램 종류와 그 양을 결정하는 문제로 동적계획법을 확정하여 제시하였다.

Recently the trade show is a massive marketing effort of a particular industry and introduces new products to potential customers, as well as the ability to elevate the brand's image and corporate identity. It is increasing its importance as a venue of communication. In these changes, the exhibition is required to have the emotional approach to enhance the dynamic and creative image of companies. Therefore, the product itself as well as the importance of various visual contents of the exhibition is increasing positive effect of the image and marketing on their products. In this sense, this study analyzes video contents of the exhibition that was held in Amsterdam, the Netherlands, Europe's largest display show 'ISE (Integrated Systems Europe)' in 2013, focusing on the domestic company, Samsung, LG Electronics and other four foreign companies. The analysis is based on the Herbert Zettl's applied media aesthetics related to the video contents, through which we can find the way to the development of exhibition video contents making for Trade show.

본 논문에서는 MPEG 의 멀티미디어 응용 표준인 MAF(Multimedia Application Format)를 기반으로, 효율적인 비디오 콘텐츠의 검색 및 활용을 위한 통합 미디어 구조, 즉 비디오 MAF 를 제안한다. 제안하는 비디오 MAF 는 ISO 미디어 포맷을 기반으로 하고 단일의 비주얼 스트림과 다중 음성을 지원하기 위한 다수의 오디오 스트림, 내용기반의 정보를 포함하는 메타데이터, 그리고 비디오 콘텐츠의 대표 이미지를 동시에 포함하는 구조이다. 제안하는 파일포맷의 유용성을 검증하기 위해 비디오 MAF 로 생성 및 해석할 수 있는 부호기(encoder)와 복호기(decoder)를 설계하고 구현하여, 통합 미디어에 내재된 메타데이터를 이용한 효율적인 검색과 멀티트랙의 오디오 스트림을 활용한 다중 음성에 대한 지원이 가능함을 확인하였다. 또한 내재된 대표이미지는 비디오 콘텐츠에 대한 브라우징이 효과적으로 활용됨을 확인하였다.

This paper proposes new motion vector re-estimation techniques for transcoding of heterogenous video coders. The first case is for transcoder of coding format. The coding algorithm with B-picture like MPEG standards is transcoded into the different algorithm without B-picture like H.261 standards. The second case is for transcoder of spatial resolution reduction. It generates a downscaled video bitstream at the video source. The third case is the integrated method that previous two cases are needed simultaneously. These three transcoding algorithms are compared and verified though reconstructed image quality in PSNR, motion vector errors between optimal motion vectors of cascaded trans- coder and motion vectors estimated by proposed methods and the amount of operation.

A region-based video codec based on the H.263+ standard is examined and its associated novel rate control scheme is proposed in this work. The region-based coding scheme is a hybrid method that consists of the traditional block DCT coding and the object-based coding. Basically, we adopt H.263+ as the platform, and develop a fast macroblock-based segmentation method to implement the region-based video codec. The proposed rate control solution includes rate control in three levels: encoding frame selection, frame-layer rate control and macroblock-layer rate control. The goal is to enhance the visual quality of decoded frames at low bit rates. The efficiency of proposed rate control scheme applied to the region-based video codes is demonstrated via several typical test sequences.

In this research, we designed a teacher professional development (PD) program where a small group of mathematics teachers could share, reflect on, and discuss their pedagogical knowledge and practices of ICT-integrated lessons, using a video annotation tool called DIVER. The main purposes of this paper are both micro and macro: to examine how the teachers were engaged in the meaning-making process in a video-based PD (micro); and to derive implications about how to design effective video-based teacher PD programs toward a teacher community of practices (macro). To examine teachers' meaning-making in the PD sessions, discourse data from a series of 10 meetings was segmented into idea units and coded to identify discourse patterns, focusing on (a) participation levels, (b) conversation topics, and (c) conversation depth. Regarding the affordance of DIVER, discourse patterns of two meetings, before and after individual annotation with DIVER were compared through qualitative vignette analysis. Overall, we found that the teacher discourse shifted the focus from surface features to deeper pedagogical issues as the PD sessions progressed. In particular, the annotation function in DIVER afforded the teachers to exercise descriptive analyses of video clips in a flexible manner, thereby helping them cognitively prepared to take interpretative and evaluative stances in face-to-face discussions with colleagues. In conclusion, deriving from our research experiences, we discuss the possibilities and challenges of designing video-based teacher PD in a school context.

우리는 웹 브라우저 사용자의 편의성 향상을 목표로 4가지 편의 기능이 통합된 브라우저인 SERA Web-Viewer를 개발하였다. 편의 기능으로는 VPV(Visited Page Viewer), APV(Aligned Page Viewer), USC(User Specified Capture)등이 추가되었으며 UCC(User Created Content)의 핵심 기술인 FLV(FLash Video file) 변환을 위한 VAC(Video and Audio Converter)를 부가기능으로 통합하였다. 편의 기능들은 사용자들이 웹 브라우저를 사용하며 가장 필요로 하는 기능들로 웹브라우저의 사용 빈도가 잦고 사용 시간이 긴 고급 사용자들을 대상으로 조사된 바에 따랐다. 위의 네 가지 통합 기능에 대한 구현 상의 알고리즘과 기술을 제안하였고, 인터넷 익스플로러 6.0의 렌더링(rendering) 기술을 이용한 MDI application 기반의 구현 방법을 코드를 통해 설명한다. 구현된 결과를 134명의 컴퓨터학 또는 멀티미디어 공학을 전공하는 학생들을 대상으로 실시한 설문조사의 결과와 비교하여 통합된 편의 기능들이 웹 브라우저 사용자들에게 실질적으로 도움을 줄 수 있다는 것을 보인다.

SoC 환경에서 효과적인 동영상 압축을 지원하기 위한 고집적 움직임 추정기를 제안한다. MPEG-4나 H.263과 같은 이동통신 향동영상압축 표준을 사용할 때, 움직임 보상, 모드 결정, 움직임 벡터 예측 및 차분 벡터 계산 등과 같은 기능은 MCU의 잦은 처리를 필요로 한다. 그러나. 제안한 움직임 추정기는 이러한 기능을 집적함으로써, 동영상 압축을 위한 MCU의 간섭을 최소로 하는 SoC 개발을 가능하게 한다. 또한 제안한 움직임 추정기는 움직임이 없는 배경에 대해서는 움직임 추정을 생략하거나 모드 결정을 통해서 INTRA 모드일 경우 반화소 단위 움직임 추정을 회피하는 기능을 구현함으로써 저전력 소모를 실현한다.

증강현실에서 움직이는 가상 모델을 증강물로 활용하려면 대개 별도의 모델링이나 애니메이션 도구 사용이 필요하며 이는 매우 전문적이고 복잡한 작업이다. 본 논문에서는 그러한 과정 없이 동적 가상 객체를 증강 환경에 삽입할 수 있는 방법으로 비디오 객체 기반 저작 방법을 제시한다. 그랩컷과 그로컷을 통합 적용하여 대상물의 초기 영역을 분리한 후, 스냅컷을 이용해 프레임간 경계선 변화를 자동 추적하여 동작이 담긴 연속 프레임을 실사 비디오에 증강하는 방식이다. 실험결과로, 몇 단계의 메뉴 선택과 경계선 오류 정정 스케치만으로 특정 비디오 객체 컷아웃 및 증강 객체 저작이 가능함을 보였다.

본 논문에서는 보다 효율적으로 블랙박스 영상을 활용하기 위하여 무선 통신 모듈을 포함하는 블랙박스 단말과 클라우드 서버를 설계하고 구현하였다. 제안하는 시스템은 통합 CCTV 관리 시스템과 같이 모든 자동차의 블랙박스 영상을 저장하고 관리하여 객체별, 시간별, 장소별 검색을 할 수 있다.
