Resource Allocation for Networked Virtual Reality Systems (네트워크형 가상현실 시스템에서의 자원할당)

  • When a networked virtual reality system handles composite media audio and video as well as three dimensional computer graphics, the quality of the virtual space is greatly affected by the current available network, and end system resources. Even if the network can preserve a certain amount of resources, the required resources change dynamically according to the user\`s navigation of a large virtual space, and then it may decrease the quality of the virtual space. In this paper, a method for resource allocation is proposed and the proposed system copes with the deterioration of quality of virtual spaces in case that the starvation of system resources occurs. The experimental results show that the proposed method is efficient.

  • In this paper, we propose a downlink power control scheme to apply in the unequal error protection multi-code CDMA mobile medicine system. The mobile medicine system contains (i) blood pressure and body temperature measurement value, (ii) ECG medical signals measured by the electrocardiogram device, (iii) mobile patient's history, (iv) G.729 audio signal, MPEG-4 CCD sensor video signal, and JPEG2000 medical image. By the help of the multi-code CDMA spread spectrum communication system with downlink power control scheme and unequal error protection strategy, it is possible to transmit mobile medicine media and meet the quality of service. Numerical analysis and simulation results show that the system is a well transmission platform in mobile medicine.

  • The purpose of the study was to develope e-Learning multimedia resource management system to support developing of e-Learning contents. This system is to create and manage multimedia resources like video, audio, and image more easily. We analyzed and redesigned media asset management system that would be used in broadcast, press, and industry. This system has SCORM metadata and is consisted of Windows 2003 server and RDBMS. The survey was conducted to investigate usability and satisfaction for the developed system.

  • 많은 분야에서 정보를 효과적으로 전달하기 위한 수단으로 멀티미디어가 많이 사용되고 있다. 이에 멀티미디어 문서를 효율적으로 저장, 검색, 표현하기 위한 기법에 대한 연구가 필요하다. 멀티미디어 문서 내에 사용되는 audio, video, image, text와 같은 여러 미디어들은 문서 내에서 시.공간적 관계뿐 아니라 내용상의 연관성을 갖게 된다. 본 논문에서는 멀티미디어 문서에 사용되는 미디어들의 특징 및 연관성을 추출해 내고, 각 미디어들을 효율적으로 관리하기 위하여 미디어 특성에 맞는 세크멘테이션 기법을 이용하고 이들에 대한 내용상의 연관성을 고려하여 저장(store), 검색(retrieve), 표현(present)하기위한 시스템을 설계 하였다.

  • This paper describes the functions and design technology of the T-DMB (Terrestrial Digital Multimedia Broadcasting) receiver. T-DMB is a novel broadcasting media that can provide high-quality video and audio services. In this paper, we will describe the VLSI implementation of RF, Baseband and Multimedia Chip for T-DMB Receiver. The designed DMB SoC has low power consumption and has been implemented using a standard-cell library in 0.18um CMOS technology.

  • DMB(Digital Multimedia Broadcasting)는 유럽의 디지털 오디오 방송규격인 Eureka-147 DAB(Digital Audio Broadcasting) 전송시스템을 기반으로 하여 동영상 및 음성, 문자데이터 등을 포함한 멀티미디어 서비스를 제공하기 위한 새로운 방송표준이다 따라서 DMB 시스템은 Eureka-147 DAB 전송부 이외에 영상 및 음성을 압축하는 미디어압축 (복)부호화부, 압축된 미디어 스트림을 다중화 하는 비디오 (역)다중화부가 추가된 구조를 갖는다. 본 논문은 DMB 표준의 비디오 다중화부의 분석을 통하여 확장된 전송기능 및 높은 전송효율을 제공할 수 있는 새로운 비디오 다중화 구조를 제시한다. 또한 표준 비디오 다중화기와 제안된 비디오 다중화기의 성능평가를 위해 기능적으로 분석하고 시뮬레이션을 통해 전송효율을 측정하였다.

  • This paper describes TVML (TV program Making Language) for automatically generating television programs from text-based script. This language describes the contents of a television program using expression with a high level of abstraction like“title #1”and“zoom-in”. The software used to read a script written in TVML and to automatically generate the program video and audio is called the TVML Player. The paper begins by describing TVML language specifications and the TVML Player. It then describes the“external control mode”of the TVML Player that can be used for applying TVML to interactive applications. Finally, it describes the TVML Editor, a user interface that we developed which enables users having no specialized knowledge of computer languages to make TVML scripts. In addition to its role as a television-program production tool. TVML is expected to have a wide range of applications in the network and multimedia fields.

  • This paper proposes a method to provide the high quality 3D broadcasting service in a mobile broadcasting system. In this method, audio and video data are delivered through a heterogeneous network, consisting of a mobile network as well as a broadcasting network, due to the limited bandwidth of the broadcasting system. However, it is more difficult to synchronize the left and right video frames of a 3D stereoscopic service, which come through different types of networks. The proposed method suggests the use of the offset from the initial timestamp of RTP (Real Time Protocol) to determine the order of frames and to find the pair of a left and a right frame that must be played at the same time. Additionally, a new signaling method is introduced for a mobile device to request a 3D service and to get the initial RTP timestamp.

  • This paper presents the design of a broadcasting scenario and system for an 8K-resolution content. Due to an 8K content is four times larger than the 4K content in terms of size, many technologies such as content acquisition, video coding, and transmission are required to deal with it. Therefore, high-quality video and audio for 8K (ultra-high definition television) service is not possible to be transmitted only using the current terrestrial broadcasting system. The proposed broadcasting system divides the 8K content into four 4K contents by area, and each area is hierarchically encoded by Scalable High-efficiency Video Coding (SHVC) into three layers: L0, L1, and L2. Every part of the 8K video content divided into areas and hierarchy is independently treated. These parts are transmitted over heterogeneous networks such as digital broadcasting and broadband networks after going through several processes of generating signal messages, encapsulation, and packetization based on MPEG media transport. We propose three methods of generating streams at the sending entity to merge the divided streams into the original content at the receiving entity. First, we design the composition information, which defines the presentation structure for displays. Second, a descriptor for content synchronization is included in the signal message. Finally, we define the rules for generating "packet_id" among the packet header fields and design the transmission scheduler to acquire the divided streams quickly. We implement the 8K broadcasting system by adapting the proposed methods and show that the 8K-resolution contents are stably received and serviced with a low delay.

  • Service platform which can offer various multimedia communication as the video, audio, voice and data is IMS(IP Multi-Media Subsystem). It is effective in the company is introducing only such convergence IMS services to be required to provide various multimedia services at the lowest cost and existing communication environment while keeping the maximum Therefore, in this study, we had developed IMS 코어 main system that not more than 1,000 employees of companies can effectively establish IMS solutions. This system is located at the middle between IMS terminal and CSCF(Call Session Control Function) in line with IMS services and provides CSCF in response to the IMS terminal and IMS terminal in response to the CSCF. As well, corded telephone and SIP phone which were used as terminal is linked with gateway.
