  • This paper deals with the method of vibration measurement of a gun barrel structure using mechanical filter. When a bullet with high speed is moving within a gun barrel type structure with low bending vibration frequencies, it is difficult to measure the bending vibration signals of the structure. For example, noncontact type sensors such as displacement or velocity sensor are not appropriate for the measurement of vibrational signals because of the movement effect of the equipment frame through the moving structures or effect of the ground vibration. One of contact type sensors such as accelerometer is profitable for measurement of vibrational signals because of its wide measurement ranges. In the case of a gun barrel structure including high vibrational signals like shock waves, however, it is necessary to propose vibration measurement method filtering high frequencies. The purpose of the paper is to propose the proper vibrational measurement technique filtering high frequencies of a gun barrel type structure.

  • The effects of different polarization conditions on vibrational echo signals are systematically explored for the rigid cyclic dipeptide 2,5-diazabicyclo[2,2,2]octane-3,6-dione. An anharmonic vibrational Hamiltonian is constructed by computing energy derivatives to fourth order using density functional theory. Molecular frame transition dipole orientations are then used to calculate polarization dependent orientational factors corresponding to various Liouville space pathways. Enhancement and elimination of specific peaks in twodimensional correlation plots is accomplished by identifying appropriate pulse configurations.

  • In this work a method to detect the vibrational peak and to decide the vibrational mode of detected peak for core internal vibration monitoring system which is particularly concerned on the core support barrel (CSB) and fuel assemblies is developed. Flow induced vibration and aging process in the reactor internals cause unsoundness of the internal structure. In order to monitor the vibrational status of core internal, signals from the ex-core neutron detectors are transformed into frequency domain. By analyzing transformed frequency domain signal, an analyst can acquire the information on the vibrational characteristics of the structures, i.e., vibration frequencies of each component, vibrational level, modes of vibration, and the causes of the abnormal vibration, if any. This study is focused on the development of the automated monitoring system. Several methods are surveyed to define the peaks in power spectrum and fuzzy theory is used to automatic detection of the vibrational peaks. Fuzzy algorithm is adopted to define the modes of vibration using the peak values from fuzzy peak recognition, phase spectrum, and coherence spectrum.

  • We must maintain the maximum operation capacity for production facilities and find properly out the fault diagnosis of the possessing equipments rapidly so as to decrease a loss caused by its failure. In this paper, we performed the fundamental study which develops a system of fault for a individually using pump widely or a pump as parts of the other machines. For each normal products, artificially transformed products, and working products under critical condition, we experimented in vibration, compared and analysed. Some faults showed into characteristic vibrations and other faults did not show consistent characters.

  • Easy detection and evaluation of defect in the tube structure is a continuous problem and remains a significant demand in tube inspection technologies. This study is aimed to automate defect detection using the pattern recognition approach based on the classification of high frequency stress wave signals. The stress wave signals from vibrational impact excitation on several tube conditions were captured to identify the defect in ASTM A179 seamless steel tubes. The variation in stress wave propagation was captured by a high frequency sensor. Stress wave signals from four tubes with artificial defects of different depths and one reference tube were classified using the autoregressive (AR) algorithm. The results were demonstrated using a dendrogram. The preliminary research revealed the natural arrangement of stress wave signals were grouped into two clusters. The stress wave signals from the healthy tube were grouped together in one cluster and the signals from the defective tubes were classified in another cluster. This approach was effective in separating different stress wave signals and allowed quicker and easier defect identification and interpretation in steel tubes.

  • Time-frequency analysis (TFA) method was applied to identify the integrity of the internal local surface of a pipe where some chemical corrosions are likely to occur by acid mixed in the coolant of nuclear power plants. The spalling out of internal material pieces by corrosion induces some transient signals and the change of structural vibration of a local point in the pipe. It is therefore possible to detect the corrosion detachment through the measurement of the transient acoustic signals or the vibration signals. In this presentation, the TFA was configured on the vibrational signal data of the pipe and it is identified that the TFA can Provide an important information, i.e., the amplitude fluctuations in the instantaneous frequency of each characteristic frequency.

  • The cubic and quartic anharmonic force field of malonaldehyde is calculated using density functional theory at the B3LYP/6-31G(d,p) level, and used to simulate coherent infrared vibrational spectra. 12 normal modes are included in the simulation, and the Arnoldi method is employed for the diagonalization of the Hamiltonian. The calculated three pulse infrared signals in the k1 + k2 - k3 direction show signatures of the intramolecular hydrogen bond couplings between the C=O stretch, H-O-C bend and O-H stretch vibrations.

  • We present one-color nonlinear wavepacket interferometry (WPI) signal calculations for a system of two electronic levels and one vibrational degree of freedom. We consider two cases, a displaced harmonic oscillator system, which can be treated analytically, and a model photodissociative system, whose WPI signal must be calculated by numerical wavepacket propagation. We show how signals obtained with different combinations of intrapulse-pair phase shifts can be combined to isolate the complex-valued overlap between a given onepulse target wavepacket and a variable three-pulse reference wavepacket. We demonstrate that with a range of inter- and intrapulse-pair delays the complex overlaps and variable reference states can be used to reconstruct the target wavepacket. We compare our results with previous methods for vibronic state reconstruction based on linear WPI and discuss further generalizations of our method.

  • The paper deals with the real time sensing of a chatter vibration in grinding machine line of automobile bearings using machine black box. The chatter vibration plays bad role in machining quality such as high roughness as well as tool life and machine failure. In this paper, the vibration signals of the automobile hub bearing in the grinding process are shown in the time domain and frequency domain. Through the vibrational signals, chatter vibration badness is detected using machine black box. Therefore, machine black box can be applied to the real time detection of the grinding process in engineering fields.
