  • In this paper, Power Flow Analysis (PFA) method has been applied to the prediction of vibration energy density and intensity of coupled shell structures in the medium-to-high frequency ranges. To consider the wave transformation at joint between shell elements, power transmission and reflection coefficients are investigated for various joint angles, and here Donnell-Mushtari thin shell theory has been used. • Blasting method is used most engineering works for rock excavation. Blasting method is done much to upgrade of operation efficiency, contraction of construction period than other method. But blasting method happens damage by blasting vibration, nose and scattering. Therefore this study examined about effect, characteristic and application of Plasma method. To confirm effect measured vibration, noise and frequency, and analyzed data compare with general blasting.

  • The paper deals with the vibration characteristics of the stack transducers made of piezoelectric discs with different radius. Natural frequencies of the stack transducers were evaluated by finite-element analysis. The natural frequencies of the analysis results were compared with those of each piezoelectric disc, and their relations were investigated.

  • This paper proposes a new 'finite element for the vibration analysis of thin-walled beams of rectangular closed sections. To predict the dynamic behavior of the thin-walled beam accurately, warping and distortion deformations should be considered for the analysis. The motivation of the present development is that conventional beam elements cannot describe correctly deformations such as warping and lozenging which are not negligible in some situations. Several numerical examples are studied to confirm the validity of the present element.

  • In this paper, ground vibration analysis methods for train transit on bridges are studied. Train loads acting on the piers are evaluated considering the interactions between the trains and the bridge. The 2D in-plane wave propagation method and the axisymmetric wave propagation method are used in the ground vibration analysis, and then the results of the ground vibration are compared. A modified axisymmetric method is presented, which can consider the effect of the train loadings on a series of piers as the train moves.

  • With the results of calculation for natural frequencies the reponses of forced coupled vibration of propulsion shafting system were investigated by the modal analysis method. For the forced vibration response analysis, the axial exciting forces, the axial damper/detuner, propeller exciting forces and damping coefficients were extensively considered. As the conclusion of this study, some items are cleared as follows.-The torsional vibration amplitudes are not influenced by the radial excitation forces of the crank shaft. -The axial vibration amplitudes are influenced by the tangential exciting forces as well as the radial exciting forces of the crank shaft. The increase of the amplitudes is observed in the speed range at the neighbourhood of any torsional critical speed. 1The closer the torsional and axial critical speed. the larger coupling effect becomes. -The axial exciting force of propeller is relatively strong comparing with axial exciting forces of cylinder gas pressure and oscillating inertia of reciprocating mechanism. Therefore, the following conclusions are obtained. -Torsional vibration calculation with the classical one dimensional model is still valid. -The influence of torsional excitation at each crank upon the axial vibration is improtant. especially in the neighbourhood of a torsional critical speed. That means that the calculation of axial vibration with the classical one dimensional model is inaccurate in most of cases.

  • Generally, a linear vibration theory regards a vibratory system as the superposition of many degrees of vibratory system. Modal analysis stems, in fact, considers the vibration system as what has input, output, and transfer function that relates the input and output. When we want to control, however, the vibratory system, we define, first, the object function that can be vibration energy of certain vibratory system. Then, we try to find the transfer function that can minimize the object function. We can readily extend this approach to control the distributed vibration system. For example, the vibrations of a vehicle, including ships and trains. In this case, we may want to minimize the vibration of the area we select. For example, minimize the vibration of the passengers' seat, but allowing the vibration of other area; for example engines and wheels. This paper introduces a general theory that can control the vibration of the selected area, which can be called as "regional control of vibration." In fact, this is the extended theory of well known sound control of "bright zone"(Choi and Kim, 2002).]. Several illustrative examples demonstrate the applicability and properties that are not available if we use modal analysis method.

  • Most of studies, using ESPI method, have handled tension, thermal and vibration analysis, and is limited to isotropic materials. However, tension and vibration simultaneously are loaded in real structure. Also, almost study using ESPI method is locally limited to the analysis on the isotropic materials and a few studies on the anisotropic materials have reported. Existing methods, such as the accelerometer method and FEA method, to analyze vibration have some disadvantages. Using the accelerometer method that is generally used to analyze vibration phenomena, it is impossible to analyze vibration on the oscillating body and one can observe no vibration mode shape during experiment. In case of the FEA method, it is difficult to define boundary conditions correctly if the shape of a body tested is complex, and one can just obtain vibration mode shapes on the peak amplitude in each modes. In this study, plane plate of stainless steel(STS304), isotropic material, that is used as structural steel is analyzed about vibration characteristics under tension. Also, in the study of stainless steel, the characteristics of composite material(AS4/PEEK) used as high strength structural material in aircraft is evaluated about vibration under tension, and studies the effect of tension on vibration.

  • The study on the vibration characteristics of annular sector plates is important for structural engineers. In this study the vibration modes and their natural frequencies of annular sector plates clamped along the inner circumferential edge are obtained by the time average holographic interferometer according to the varying sector angle. The experimental results agree well with those obtained by the numerical analysis. The vibration characteristics of annular sector plates shows great dependence on the sector angle. The radial nodal lines converge to the center of annular sector plate.
