Methods: The research design for this study was a descriptive survey design using a random sampling. Data collection was done using self-questionnaire with 477 nurses. The collected data were analyzed by descriptive statistics, ${\chi}^2$-test and logistics regression. Results: The incidences of total violence, verbal, physical, and sexual violence were 31.2%, 28.7%, 6.3%, 3.6% of the nurses, respectively. Anger was significantly associated with verbal violence (OR: 2.34, CI: 1.40~3.91) and physical violence (OR:4.85 CI: 1.67~14.13). Post traumatic stress disorder was significantly associated with verbal violence (OR: 15.99, CI: 9.58~26.69) and physical violence (OR: 5.37, CI: 1.66~17.40). Conclusion: To promote psychological health in nurses, there is a need to develop prevention programs to decrease workplace violence and to develop programs supporting psychological aspects of verbal violence that nurses experience.

Participants in this study are 150 rural women who are married and live with their husband. A modification of the Conflict Tactics Scale is used to measure the CRA of four levels, reasoning, verbal aggression, minor physical violence, and heavy physical violence. The major findings of this study are as follows. First the frequencies of each type of the CRA-reasoning, verbal aggression, minor physical violence and heavy physical violence-are 12.1%, 57.9%, 17.1% and 12.9% respectively. Therefore, the verbal aggression is the most prevalent type of the CRA Second, the result from multiple regression shows that the conflict from husband's whoring, husband's drinking capacity and family type have a meaningful impact on husband's physical violence.

  • Background: To confirm verbal violence experience in dental hygiene students and to verify its influence on their self-esteem and career identity. Methods: Data were collected using a structured self-reported questionnaire targeting 180 dental hygiene students at M University. Descriptive statistics, one-way analysis of variance, t-test, Pearson's correlation coefficient, and multiple regression analysis were performed using SPSS WIN 25.0. Results: Older students reported that they experienced verbal violence more frequently during clinical training, especially those who were dissatisfied with clinical training. The students experienced verbal violence more frequently from dental hygienists than from dentists and patients. Dental hygiene students had high self-esteem and career identity. The students who were majorly satisfied with clinical training had higher self-esteem and career identity than those who were dissatisfied. Dental hygiene students had lower self-esteem and career identity when they experience verbal violence more frequently from dentists and dental hygienists during clinical training and clinical practice. • Purpose: The purpose of this study is to investigate verbal, physical and sexual violence to caregivers in nursing home workplaces. Methods: This cross-sectional study was done from October 17 to 31, 2011 at eight randomly selected nursing homes in Seoul and one nursing home in Gyeonggi, South Korea. This study explored their responses to violence and violent situations, and then investigated on how caregivers coped with workplace violence. Results: The results of this study show that most caregivers in nursing homes experience some form of violence. Verbal violence was more frequent than physical or sexual violence. Verbal and physical violence occurred most often while they were changing the clothes of patients and sexual violence occurred most often while they were showering patients. After experiencing violence, caregivers most often dealt with the situation by informing their colleagues of what was happened. Conclusion: These results suggest that institutional and administrative measures must be implemented to increase the prevention of violence against caregivers and to improve effective measures to deal with violence once it has occurred. Violence in nursing homes can be reduced through the combination of appropriate responses by caregivers and proper education of both patients and caregivers.
