Source samples were collected to construct source profiles for 9 different source types, including soil, road dust, gasoline/diesel-powered vehicles, a municipal incinerator, industrial sources, agricultural/biomass burning, marine aerosol, and a coal-fired power plant. Seasonal profiles for 'Chinese aerosol', aerosols derived from the urban area of China, were reconstructed from seasonal $PM_{2.5}$ compositions reported in Beijing, China. Ambient $PM_{2.5}$ at a receptor site was also measured during each of the four seasons, from April 2001 to February 2002, in Seoul. The Chemical Mass Balance receptor model was applied to quantify source contributions during the study period using the estimated source profiles. Consequently, motor vehicle exhaust (33.0%), in particular 23.9% for diesel-powered vehicles, was the largest contributor affecting the $PM_{2.5}$ levels in Seoul, followed by agricultural/biomass burning (21.5%) and 'Chinese aerosol' (13.1%), indicating contributions from long-range transport. The largest contributors by season were: for spring, 'Chinese aerosol' (31.7%); for summer, motor vehicle exhaust (66.9%); and for fall and winter, agricultural/biomass burning (31.1% and 40.1%, respectively). These results show different seasonal patterns and sources affecting the $PM_{2.5}$ level in Seoul, than those previously reported for other cities in the world.
Electric vehicles should be connected to power system for charge and discharge of battery. Besides vehicle's battery is charged for a power source, it is also reversibly possible to provide power source from battery to power system. Researches on battery usage for regulation resources have been progressed and could cause cost increase excessively because they distribute regulation capacity equally without considering the battery wear cost of SOC, temperature, voltage and so on. This causes increase of grid maintenance cost and aggravate economical efficiency. In this paper it is studied that the cost could be minimized according to the battery condition and characteristic. The equation is developed in this paper to calculate the possible number of charge and discharge cycle, according to SOC level and weighting factors representing the relation between battery life and temperature as well as voltage. Thereafter, the correlation is inferred between the battery condition and wear cost reflecting the battery price, and the expense of compensation is decided according to the condition on battery wear-out of vehicle. In addition, using realtime error between load and load expectation, it is calculated how much regulation capacity should be provided.

This paper addresses the establishment of a kVA-range plug-in hybrid electrical vehicle (PHEV) integration test platform and associated issues. Advancements in battery and power electronic technology, hybrid vehicles are becoming increasingly dependent on the electrical energy provided by the batteries. Minimal or no support by the internal combustion engine may result in the vehicle being occasionally unable to recharge the batteries during highly dynamic driving that occurs in urban areas. The inability to sustain its own energy source creates a situation where the vehicle must connect to the electrical grid in order to recharge its batteries. The effects of a large penetration of electric vehicles connected into the grid are still relatively unknown. This paper presents a novel methodology that will be utilized to study the effects of PHEV charging at the sub-transmission level. The proposed test platform utilizes the power hardware-in-the-loop (PHIL) concept in conjunction with high-fidelity PHEV energy system simulation models. The battery, in particular, is simulated utilizing a real-time digital simulator ($RTDS^{TM}$) which generates appropriate control commands to a power electronics-based voltage amplifier that interfaces via a LC-LC-type filter to a power grid. In addition, the PHEV impact is evaluated via another power electronic converter controlled through $dSPACE^{TM}$, a rapid control systems prototyping software.
According to revolutionary developments in automobile technologies, various electronically controlled components of vehicles are rapidly increasing. A variety of advanced vehicles (hybrid vehicle, hydrogen fuel-cell vehicle, electric vehicle, etc.) using electrical energy source are increasing, too. The electromagnetic compatibility is getting more important for development of a vehicle because those advanced vehicles are equipped with more new electronic systems. In general, electromagnetic compatibility tests consist of an electromagnetic interference (EMI) test and an electromagnetic susceptibility (EMS) test. In this paper, in order to investigate the electromagnetic interference in the cabin of vehicle by various electric and electronic components of vehicles, a series of narrowband electromagnetic emission tests are conducted. For comparison, the several digital home appliances (smartphone under charging, laptop compuer and digital camera), which are used a lot in daily lives, are tested.
In the recent research technical solutions have been studied to integrate renewable energy into unmanned aerial vehicles to use it as the main power source. As the weight of the aerial vehicle body is essential for its performance, we consider to use light-weight solar cell technology. Furthermore fuel cells are also integrated create a highly energy-efficient aerial robot. In this paper, construction concept and software design of the tilt-rotor aerial vehicle GAORI is introduced which uses solar cells and fuel cells as power source. The future work direction and prognosis are discussed.
In this paper, we first implement the simulation environment to investigate the efficient control method of a Fuel Cell Electric Vehicle (FCEV) system with battery. The subsystems of a FCEV including the fuel cell system, the electric motor (including the power electronics) and the tansmission (reduction gear), and the auxiliary power source (battery) are mathematically fomulated and coded using the Matlab/Simulink software. Some examples are given to show the capabilities of the modeled system and d a basic control strategy is examined for the economic energy distribution between the fuel cell and the auxiliary power source. It is illustrated by simulations that the actual vehicle velocity follows the given desired velocity pattern while both SOC control and power distribution control are being performed.
For a panel contribution of the passenger vehicle compartment, a model was created for acoustic analysis of the passenger vehicle compartment and through the acoustic normal modal analysis, frequencies and mode shapes of the resonance modes were calculated. Also, the contribution analysis of each panel was executed using acoustic reciprocal theorem, and through this analysis, normalized responses at the particular point indicate the relative contribution of each panel for generating noise and vibration
In this paper, BSR noise from an instrument panel of a vehicle are investigated with integrated experimental methods. First, potential source regions of the instrument panel for BSR are localized by using the module-excitor and near-acoustic field visualization system. Then, subjective evaluation of BSR nosie from the detected potential noise source regions is made with the Zwicker's loudness and time-varying loudness methods.
Localization of underwater vehicle is essential to use underwater robotic systems for various applications effectively. For this purpose, this paper presents a method of two-dimensional SLAM for underwater vehicles equipped with two hydrophones. The proposed method uses directional angles for underwater acoustic sources. A target signal transmitted from acoustic source is extracted using band-pass filters. Then, directional angles are estimated based on Bayesian process with generalized cross-correlation. The acquired angles are used as measurements for EKF-SLAM to estimate both vehicle location and locations of acoustic sources. Through these processes, the proposed method provides reliable estimation for two dimensional locations of underwater vehicles. Experimental results demonstrate the performance of the proposed method in a real sea environment.
