Wedge locks have been widely used for spaceborne electronics for mounting or removal of a printed circuit board (PCB) during integration, test and maintenance process. However, it can basically provide a mechanical constraint on the edge of the board. Thus, securing a fatigue life of solder joint for electronic package by limiting board deflection becomes difficult as the board size increases. Previously, additional stiffeners have been applied to reduce the board deflection, but the mass and volume increases of electronics are unavoidable. To overcome the aforementioned limitation, we proposed an application of multi-layered PCB sheet with viscoelastic adhesive tapes to implement high-damping capability on the board. Thus, it is more advantageous in securing the fatigue life of package under launch environment compared with the previous approach. The basic characteristics of the PCB with the multi-layered sheet was investigated through free-vibration tests at various temperatures. The effectiveness of the proposed design was validated through launch vibration test at qualification level and fatigue life prediction of electronic package based on the test results.
Because of most notably the increase in vehicular traffic in Korea, as measured by highway transport usage, relief is being sought by expanding the construction of highways after 1970s'. These highways have opened up over 70 % of the mountainous areas in Korea's country side which includes the construction of tunnels. Currently there are 607 tunnels installed that are being maintained and by 2015, under the next medium-term plan, Korea will build an additional 440 tunnels. In addition, the use of 1,000m double-pole tunnels is expected to increase significantly in 256 locations. There is no doubt that these tunnels will relieve traffic congestion and aid improved communications, but halfclosed underground highway tunnels in particular are required to reduce tunnel fires caused by poor vehicle maintenance, and other factors such as speeding motorists that increase the number of vehicular accidents. Double-pole tunnels in 1,000m length over require vehicle drivers to be more cautious in terms of the continuous speed limit, judged by how devastating most of car-crash fires within these tunnels can be. In order to prevent these disasters, a full-length tunnel speed enforcement system should be considered mandatorily in legal clauses.

In this paper, we propose wired and wireless distributed control systems designed to improve the freight logistics efficiency and verify wired distributed control systems. The verification condition required that 50 cargo vehicles be connected and operated to travel 21 km from Busan Sinhang station to Jinlye Station at an average speed of about 100km/h. The verification results show that the traction output and braking output of the control and controlled cars are dispersed by the wired distributed control system. The application is expected to more than double the efficiency of the logistics compared to the existing freight transportation system. However, in the case of the wired distributed control system, cable installation and maintenance are difficult, and it is impossible to change the combination of freight vehicles. Through the verification of the wired distributed control system, the applicability of distributed control systems to freight vehicles in Korea was confirmed and the system was further developed to produce a wireless distributed control system. In order to apply the wireless distributed control system, a propagation environment analysis for the ISM band was performed in the testbed and, as a result, it was confirmed that Wifi technology using the ISM band could be utilized. In order to use the WDP (Wireless Distributed Power) devices newly installed in the target vehicles, the transmission / reception control signals associated with the propulsion / braking / total control devices are defined. In the case of wireless distributed control systems, the convenience of their application and operation is guaranteed, but reliability and emergency safety measures should because of the dependence of the control of the vehicle on radio signals.

Cells of a PV (photovoltaic) module can suffer defects due to various causes resulting in a loss of power output. As a malfunctioning cell has a higher temperature than adjacent normal cells, it can be easily detected with a thermal infrared sensor. A conventional method of PV cell inspection is to use a hand-held infrared sensor for visual inspection. The main disadvantages of this method, when applied to a large-scale PV power plant, are that it is time-consuming and costly. This paper presents an algorithm for automatically detecting defective PV panels using images captured with a thermal imaging camera from an UAV (unmanned aerial vehicle). The proposed algorithm uses statistical analysis of thermal intensity (surface temperature) characteristics of each PV module to verify the mean intensity and standard deviation of each panel as parameters for fault diagnosis. One of the characteristics of thermal infrared imaging is that the larger the distance between sensor and target, the lower the measured temperature of the object. Consequently, a global detection rule using the mean intensity of all panels in the fault detection algorithm is not applicable. Therefore, a local detection rule was applied to automatically detect defective panels using the mean intensity and standard deviation range of each panel by array. The performance of the proposed algorithm was tested on three sample images; this verified a detection accuracy of defective panels of 97% or higher. In addition, as the proposed algorithm can adjust the range of threshold values for judging malfunction at the array level, the local detection rule is considered better suited for highly sensitive fault detection compared to a global detection rule. In this study, we used a panel area extraction method that we previously developed; fault detection accuracy would be improved if panel area extraction from images was more precise. Furthermore, the proposed algorithm contributes to the development of a maintenance and repair system for large-scale PV power plants, in combination with a geo-referencing algorithm for accurate determination of panel locations using sensor-based orientation parameters and photogrammetry from ground control points.

This paper presents to study the sensor fusion of positioning sensors using UKF(unscented Kalman filter) for positioning accuracy improvement of AGV(automatic guided vehicle). The major guidance systems for AGV are wired guidance and magnetic guidance system. Because they have high accuracy and fast response time, they are used in most of the FMS(flexible manufacturing system). However, they had weaknesses that are high maintenance cost and difficult of existing path modification. they are being changed to the laser navigation in recent years because of those problems. The laser navigation is global positioning sensor using reflecters on the wall, and it have high accuracy and easy to modify the path. However, its response time is slow and it is influenced easily by disturbance. In this paper, we propose the sensor fusion method of the laser navigation and local sensors using UKF. The proposed method is improvement method of accuracy through error analysis of sensors. For experiments, we used the axle-driven forklift AGV and compared the positioning results of the proposed method with positioning results of the laser navigation. In experimental result, we verified that the proposed method can improve positioning accuracy about 16%.

This paper present to study the guidance system as localization technique using sensor fusion and line tracking technique using virtual line for AGV(autonomous guided vehicle). An existing AGV could drive on decided line only. And representative guidance systems of such guidance system are magnet-gyro guidance and wired guidance. However, those have had the high cost of installation and maintenance, and the difficulty of system change according to variation of working environment. To solve such problems, we make the localization system which is fused with a laser navigation and gyro, encoder. The system is robust against noise, and flexible according to working environment through sensor fusion. For line tracking of laser navigation without wire guidance, we set the virtual line in program, and design the driving controller based on difference of angle and distance between AGV's position and decided virtual line. To experiment, we use the AGV which is made by ourselves, and experiment the line tracking repeatedly on same experimental environment. In result, maximum distance error between decided virtual line and AGV's position was less than 49.93mm, and we verified that the proposed system is efficient for line tracking of actual AGV.
The fact that the demands on traffic data collection are imposed by economic and safety considerations raisese the question of the potential for complementing existing traffic data collection programs with satellite data. Evaluating and monitoring traffic characteristics is becoming increasingly important as worsening congestion, declining economic situations, and increasing environmental sensitivies are forcing the government and municipalities to make better use of existing roadway capacities. The present system of using automatic counters at selected points on highways works well from a temporal point of view (i.e., during a specific period of time at one location). However, the present system does not cover the spatial aspects of the entire road system (i.e., for every location during specific periods of time); the counters are employed only at points and only on selected highways. This lack of spatial coverage is due, in part, to the cost of the automatic counters systems (fixed procurement and maintenance costs) and of the personal required to deploy them. The current procedure is believed to work fairly well in the aggregate mode, at the macro level. However, at micro level, the numbers are more suspect. In addition, the statistics only work when assuming a certain homogenity among characteristics of highways in the same class, an assumption that is impossible to test whn little or no data is gathered on many of the highways for a given class. In this paper, a remote sensing system as complement of the existing system is considered and implemented. Since satellite imagery with high resolution is not available, digitized panchromatic imagery acquired from an aircraft platform is utilized for initial test of the feasibility and performance capability of remote sensing data. Different levels of imagery resolutions are evaluated in an attempt to determine what vehicle types could be classified and counted against a background of pavement types, which might be expected in panchromatic satellite imagery. The results of a systematic study with three different levels of resolutions (1m, 2m and 4m) show that the panchromat ic reflectances of vehicles and pavements would be distributed so similarly that it would be difficult to classify systematically and analytically remotely sensing vehicles on pavement within panchromatic range. Anaysis of the aerial photographs show that the shadows of the vehicles could be a cue for vehicle detection.
As part of measures to reduce fine dust, the government is promoting a project to convert the fuel of Yard Tractors(YT, tractors operated at ports), from diesel to LNG (Liquefied Natural Gas). While a port having a small number of yard tractors, it is not proper to construct a stationary LNG fueling station and supply LNG to YT due to a problem of BOG (Boil off gas) generation. Therefore, it is necessary to make a regulation and a standard on mobile LNG YT refueling station installation and inspection as an alternative. In this study, we have investigated domestic and foreign mobile LNG refueling cases and refueling standards, including the USA and Europe. In addition, we have suggested the risk reduction method according to the cause after investigation of the cause of LNG accidents. And last, based on the proposed risk reduction measures, we have proposed an amendment to the Regulation of the Urban Gas Business Law in Korea. The proposed mobile LNG YT refueling amendment of the Regulation includes ; maintenance of the safety distance from the protection facility, installation of an interlock device to prevent refueling in places other than the authorized place, installation of the identification system through biometrics, separation of the tank lorry and tow vehicle before refueling, checking the wheel fixed status of tank lorry before refueling, construction of the impounding area, safety measures before, during and after refueling, etc. The safety standards proposed in this study could be used as a reference in establishing standards for mobile LNG vehicle refueling in the near future.

A road curbstone is a structure installed at the boundary of the sidewalk and the street with the objectives of road drainage, drawing attention and such. The current general construction method of curbstones places foundation concrete for the curbstones first, waits until the concrete reaches the strength to support the curbstones, places the curbstones on top, and then places the gutter and rear filling concrete. Such method has the issues of poor compaction and weakened bond strength of concrete due to split placing of concrete, and causes the curbstones to easily separate due to vehicle impact or earth pressure, in turn creating maintenance costs and spoiling the aesthetics. To improve such conventional construction methods, an all-in-one method was developed using formwork rail and jig where both the curbstones and gutter can be worked at the same time, and to evaluate the structural performance, static tests of lateral loading test, pullout test, and bending test were executed, and dynamic tests such as pendulum test and actual vehicle impact test were executed. In all tests, the all-in-one construction method using formwork rail and jig was shown to be superior to the conventional construction method by the increase of construction quality and bond strength of concrete.

If there is a defect in the wheel bearing, which is a major part of the car, it can cause problems such as traffic accidents. In order to solve this problem, big data is collected and monitoring is conducted to provide early information on the presence or absence of wheel bearing failure and type of failure through predictive diagnosis and management technology. System development is needed. In this paper, to implement such an intelligent wheel hub bearing maintenance system, we develop an embedded system equipped with sensors for monitoring reliability and soundness and algorithms for predictive diagnosis. The algorithm used acquires vibration signals from acceleration sensors installed in wheel bearings and can predict and diagnose failures through big data technology through signal processing techniques, fault frequency analysis, and health characteristic parameter definition. The implemented algorithm applies a stable signal extraction algorithm that can minimize vibration frequency components and maximize vibration components occurring in wheel bearings. In noise removal using a filter, an artificial intelligence-based soundness extraction algorithm is applied, and FFT is applied. The fault frequency was analyzed and the fault was diagnosed by extracting fault characteristic factors. The performance target of this system was over 12,800 ODR, and the target was met through test results.
