인천해안지역의 식물군집구조 분석을 통한 해안림 식재모델 연구(I) - 곰솔림과 소나무림을 대상으로 - (The Planting Models of Maritime Forest by the Plant Community Structure Analysis in the Seaside, Incheon - A Case Study on Pinus thunbergil Community and P. densiflora Community-)

  • Planting models for restoration forest on the seaside have been demanded because coastal reclaimed land has increased for habitation sites, industrial complexes and new towns on the west seaside of Korea. The planting models have to consider endurance for bad environmental conditions in order to make a role to protect the urban space against the extreme seaside environment. The dominant species, relative impotance value, individuals and species number were analysed in natural forests that were exposed to extreme seaside conditions in Deokjeok island and Younghung island, Incheon. The native species such as Pinus thunbergii and Pinus densiflora, which survive on the seaside, were mainly recommended because the coastal reclaimed land had extreme environmental conditions. Stable vegetation structures could be made by multi-layer planing by using these species. A diverse vegetation community could be made according to these planting models. The maritime forests made by these planting models might be more effective for environmental adaptation and a windbreak forest than alone tree, and the young trees below 3m height could easily adapt to these conditions.

Vegetation and water characteristics of floating mat in a coastal lagoon as the habitat for endangered plant species

  • Background: To understand the ecological characteristics of floating mat in which endangered species of Iris laevigata and Menyanthes trifoliata inhabit, we surveyed the vegetation and water environments of a floating mat wetland and examined the relations between ecological characteristics of the mat. Results: Although Phragmites australis and Zizania latifolia were found at all experimental quadrats (n = 61) as the major vegetational components of the floating mat wetland, they showed relatively poor growth performances in terms of shoot height (< 2 m) and biomass production (<$300g/m^2$) compared with those in soil-based wetlands because of oligotrophic water condition. The competitiveness and distribution of P. australis and Z. latifolia seemed to be determined by water level difference by micro-topography rather than water chemistry. Conclusion: P. australis and endangered plant species mainly occurred in the area of relatively shallow water, whereas Z. latifolia and deep-water species such as Scirpus fluviatilis mostly inhabit in the area of deep water on the floating mat. Continuously maintained water level and oligotrophic water condition in the floating mat appeared to be important environments for endangered species such as I. laevigata and M. trifoliata.

인공수초재배섬에서 수생식물 지상부 절취주기별 수중영양염류 제거효율 (Effect of Cut-off Intervals on Nutrients Removal Efficiency in Hydrophytes at the Artificial Vegetation Island)

  • We investigated the most effective cutting interval for underwater nutrient removal through cut off the emergent part of hydrophytes at artificial vegetation island (AVR) which was installed for the purpose of water quality improvement in Lake Paldang. We divided the planting area of Phragmites japonica into three parts according to the cutting intervals. The shoot height and relative growth rate of P. japonica, nutrient contents and biomass of cut off P. japonica were measured at each cutting interval. The amount of nutrients which were removed through cut off at each cutting interval was calculated. P. japonica showed full growth, 80% and 60% of full growth before first cut off at three-months, two-months and one-month cutting interval condition respectively. Three-month cutting interval condition showed the largest biomass of cut off P. japonica and one-month cutting interval condition showed the least. However the cut off P. japonica showed the highest content of nutrients at one-month cutting interval condition and the least at three-month cutting interval condition. The amount of phosphorus and nitrogen removal at two-month cutting off condition is the largest among three cutting interval conditions indicating that cut off the emergent part of P. japonica every two months is the most effective to remove the nutrients from water at AVR in eutrophic lakes.

대전 갑하산과 우산봉의 산림식생 분석 (Forest Vegetation Analysis of Gabhasan and Woosanbong in Daejeon, Korea)

  • 본 연구는 대전에 위치한 갑하산과 우산봉의 산림식생 현황을 파악하기 위해 2001년 6월부터 9월까지 총 62개의 조사구를 선정하여 중요치와 흉고직경급 및 ordination 분석을 실시하였다. TWINSPAN 방법으로 식생을 분류한 결과 신갈나무군락, 소나무군락, 굴참나무군락, 상수리나무군락으로 구분되었다. 4개의 군락에서 중요치를 분석한 결과는 소나무, 굴참나무, 신갈나무, 졸참나무, 때죽나무 등의 순으로 나타났다. 흉고직경급 분석 결과 현재 소나무와 굴참나무가 우점하고 있으나, 앞으로 신갈나무, 졸참나무, 산벚나무 등의 중요치가 증가할 것으로 판단된다. Ordination을 분석한 결과 신갈나무군락은 해발고가 높고, 경사가 급한 지역에 분포하고 있으며, 소나무군락은 해발고가 비교적 높고 경사가 중간인 지역에 분포하고 있다. 굴참나무군락은 해발고가 낮고 경사가 완만한 지역에 분포하고 있으며, 상수리나무군락은 해발고가 가장 낮고 경사가 비교적 완만한 지역에 분포하고 있다.

도시숲 백로류의 잠재번식지 선정을 위한 서식환경 조사 - 군산 백로류 집단번식지를 중심으로 - (A Survey on the Family Ardeidae Habitat for the Selection of the Alternative Breeding Sites at the Urban Forest in Korea)

  • This study aims to provide the basic habitat data for the alternative breeding sites of Family Ardeidae including Ardea cinerea, Egretta alba modesta, Egretta intermedia, Egretta garzetta, Bubulcus ibis and Nycticorax nyciticorax. Species numbers, flight directions for detecting foraging grounds and current vegetation structure were investigated nesting at Gunsan urban forest area. Data were collected over a period of 10 weeks, from 15 June - 31 August 2014. The total nest and population of Family Ardeida were 684 and 1,712 respectively. Percentage of birds observed flying in 8 major compass directions were as follows. 57.27% of all birds were observed flying northwest, 22.09% were observed flying south and 13.40% were flying north. For possible foraging areas, to the northwest, there are Geumgang river tidal flats, and to the south, paddy fields and streams within 2km. Flying directions by species (${\chi}^2=287.18$, P<.001, Cramer's V=0.12) and by seasons(${\chi}^2=839.94$, P<.001, Cramer's V=0.19) showed significant difference statistically. In relation between species and directions, 60.31% and 24.05% of Bubulcus ibis and 59.40% and 23.00% of Ardea cinerea were observed flying northwest and south respectively. Vegetation in the sites consist of an overstory of 3 to 7 species. At site 1, Pinus thunbergii was the dominant species and site 2, Chamaecyparis obtusa. Understory vegetation is composed of shrubs, saplings and small trees of Chamaecyparis obtusa, Quercus acutissima, Smilax china and Platycarya strobilacea. Egrets and herons usually nested at the dense population and canopy overlayed forest, and especially branches and leaves of smallwood with less than 10cm of breast height diameter were relatively severely damaged due to the nesting and excreta.

Estimation of Carbon Stock in the Chir Pine (Pinus roxburghii Sarg.) Plantation Forest of Kathmandu Valley, Central Nepal

  • Vegetation carbon sequestration and regeneration are the two major parameters of forest research. In this study, we analyzed the vegetation carbon stock and regeneration of community-managed pine plantation of Kathmandu, central Nepal. Vegetation data were collected from 40 circular plots of 10 m radius (for the tree) and 1m radius (for seedling) applying a stratified random sampling and nested quadrat method. The carbon stock was estimated by Chave allometric model and estimated carbon stock was converted into CO2 equivalents. Density-diameter (d-d) curve was also prepared to check the regeneration status and stability of the plantation. A d-d curve indicates the good regeneration status of the forest with a stable population in each size class. Diversity of trees was very low, only two tree species Pinus roxburghii and Eucalyptus citriodora occurred in the sample plots. Pine was the dominant tree in terms of density, basal area, biomass, carbon stock and CO2 stock than the eucalyptus. The basal area, carbon stock and CO2 stock of forest was 33±1.0 ㎡ ha-1, 108±5.0 Mg ha-1 and 394±18 Mg ha-1, respectively. Seedling and tree density of the plantation was 4,965 ha-1 and 339 ha-1 respectively. The forest carbon stock showed a positive relationship with biomass, tree diameter, height and basal area but no relationship with tree density. Canopy cover and tree diameter have a negative effect on seedling density and regeneration. In conclusion, the community forest has a stable population in each size class, sequestering a significant amount of carbon and CO2 emitted from densely populated Kathmandu metro city as the forest biomass hence have a potentiality to mitigate the global climate change.

수목의 소음감쇄효과 (Noise Attenuation Effects of Trees)

  • 본 연구는 다양한 유형의 수림대가 갖는 소음감쇄효과를 측정하기 위하여 수행되었다. 차량통행이 빈번한 도로변 6개 조사지를 대상으로 측정한 결과 수림대의 소음감쇄효과를 확인하였다. 도로로부터 1m와 10m 상의 최대음압도의 차이는 10-15dB로 수림대의 속성에 따라 다소간의 차이를 보이고 있다. 초지를 대조구로 비교하였을 때 조사지 중에서 음압도의 최대차이는 밀생한 관목림에서 보이는 5dB 수준이다. 도로로부터 상향 경사면에 위치하는 조사지의 경우에는 오히려 대조구보다 소음감쇄 정도가 미미하였다. 연구를 통하여 분석된 제한된 정보와 국내외의 이전 연구결과를 토대로 단층 건물 주변의 10m 폭 방음수림대의 적절한 유형을 제시한다면 최소 3m 폭, 2m 수고의 밀식된 관목수림대와 앞뒤로 각각 3m 폭의 부드러운 초지의 조성을 들 수 있다. 위의 처방은 본 연구의 결과로 유추하여 볼 때 소음원인으로부터 발생되는 음압도를 15dB 이상 감소시킬 수 있을 것으로 판단된다.

인공수초재배섬 식생기반재 종류에 따른 물질 흡착량 및 생물상, 식재식물 성장 비교 (Comparison of the Growth of Hydrophytes, Aquatic Biota and Absorption of Nutrient depending on the Planting Mat Type of Artificial Vegetation Island)

  • We investigated temporal changes of growth of hydrophytes, aquatic biota and absorption of nutrient depending on planting mat type (synthetic fiber, coconut fiber) of artificial vegetation island (AVI) through pilot test using AVI miniatures in Kyungan Stream area of Lake Paldang. There were not significant differences of the water quality parameters (DO, pH, conductivity, turbidity, temperature), phytoplankton and zooplankton abundance among AVI miniatures and control station. The benthic macroinvertebrates showed most individual numbers in the miniature which was made by synthetic fiber and planted with Phragmites australis. The average and maximum height of hydrophytes in AVI miniatures was similar except one miniature where Phragmites australis was planted in synthetic fiber mat and grew more slowly. The adsorbed amount of nutrients and microbes in coconut fiber mat were larger than those in synthetic fiber mat regardless of trophic state of installed waterbody. The continuous increase of adsorbed amount of nutrients and microbes of coconut fiber mat for 8 months in an oligotrophic lake indicates that coconut fiber mat is suitable for the planting mat of AVI in an oligotrophic lake where nutrients are limited for growth of hydrophytes.

질소 분시횟수가 Creeping Bentgrass 잔디초지의 식생에 미치는 영향 (Effect of Split Nitrogen Application Times on Turf Vegetation of Creeping Bentgrass)

  • 본 시험은 제주지역에서 한지형 잔디의 적정 질소 분시 횟수를 구명하기 위하여 2004년 3월 26일부터 7월 8일까지 질소시비량을 20kg/10a로 고정하고, 15일 간격으로 1회에서 5회까지 분시하여 잔디의 식생변화를 조사하였다. 초장은 4~5회 분시에서 각각 21.8cm, 21.9cm로 가장 길었으나, 시비횟수가 적어짐에 따라 초장은 참아졌다. 근장과 엽록소는 초장반응과 비슷한 경향이었다. 질소 시비횟수가 1회에서 5회로 증가함에 따라 엽중은 1,091kg에서 1,485kg/10a로, 근중은 2,236kg에서 2,808kg/110a로 증가되었다. 질소분시 횟수가 1회에서 5회로증가함에 따라 잔디의 피도는 $96.0\%$에서 $98.4\%$로 증가되었으나, 잡초는 $4.0\%$에서 $1.6\%$로 감소되었다. 잔디의 밀도는 $97.4\%$에서 $98.9\%$로 증가되고 있는 반면, 잡초의 밀도는 $2.6\%$에서 $1.1\%$로 감소되는 경향이었다. 질소분시 횟수가 전량 시비구에서 5회로 증가됨에 따라 침입잡초는 15.7종에서 11.8종으로 감소되었다. 잡초의 우점순위는 전량 시비구에서 쇠비름, 여뀌, 별꽃 순위였으며, 2회 분시에서 쇠비름, 여뀌, 바랭이 순위로, 3회 분시에서 바랭이, 쇠비름, 여뀌 순위로, 4회와 5회 분시에서 쇠비름, 새포아풀, 여뀌 순위였다. 이상의 결과를 종합해 볼 때, 제주지역에서 질소비료를 4회 분시하는 것이 효과적일 것으로 판단된다.

한국과 중국의 마을비보숲 식생 비교 - 한국(韓國) 진안(鎭安)과 중국(中國) 청주(靑州)를 사례로 - (A Comparison of Vegetation in Complementary Forests of Villages between Korea and China - Focused on Jinan in Korea and Qingzhou in China -)

  • 본 연구는 한국과 중국의 마을 비보숲의 식생을 비교하기 위하여 수행되었다. 이를 위하여 한국과 중국의 대표적인 마을 비보숲이 잔존하는 지역을 예비조사를 통해 확인하여 한국의 진안과 중국의 청주를 선정하였다. 주요 조사방법은 현장조사이고, 조사된 두 지역에 대한 비교 고찰을 위하여 빈도분석이 이루어졌다. 이를 통해 두 지역의 차이로 인해 마을 비보숲의 식생의 특성에 있어서 많은 차이가 있는 것으로 나타났다. 분석결과, 두 지역의 평균 종수는 2.9종으로 같았다. 그러나 평균 개체수, 총 개체수, 입목밀도는 청주가 진안에 비해 상당히 큰 것으로 나타났다. 또한 수고, 평균 흉고직경, 수관폭은 진안이 청주보다 상당히 큰 것으로 나타났다. 그리고 임상과 주요 수종 역시 매우 다른 것으로 나타났다. 따라서 본 연구를 통해 한국과 중국의 특성을 살린 마을 비보숲의 복원과 관리의 정책 방향을 마련하는 데 도움이 될 것으로 사료된다.
