The metal complexes can be influenced not only by the central metal atoms and the substituent groups, but also by the native of the chelating atoms. For example, near-infrared absorbing chromophores were synthesized by the reaction of phenylenediamine derivatives with a solution of pottassium hydroxide followed by the addition of nickel(II) chloride. These dyes provide absorbing infrared light over 780-840 nm with an extinction coefficient of $2.5-6.0{\times}10^4$. By introduction of alkyl, alkoxyl, cyano, and other functional group into the parent dye, these dyes greatly improved the solubility in organic solvent. New near-infrared absorbing donor-acceptor chromophores have been investigated by varying the electron donating and accepting strength of the two halves of the molecule. The cyanine chromophores permit the simplest way of obtaining systems that absorb well into the near-infrared region of the spectrum. Cyanine dyes possess high extinction coefficients that initially increase with Increasing chain length. These chromophores could be useful in near-infrared optical materials.
On-site sanitation systems are typically installed to treat grey and toilet wastewaters in areas without sewer and centralized treatment systems. It is well known that, due to inappropriate design and operation, treatment performance of these systems in developing countries is not satisfactory in the removal of pathogens and organic matters. This research aimed to investigate the hydraulic conditions occurring in some on-site sanitation systems and the effects of hydraulic retention times (HRTs) on the system performance. The experiments were conducted with a laboratory-scale septic tank (40L in size) and an actual septic tank (600L in size), to test the hydraulic conditions by using tracer study with HRTs varying at 12, 24 and 48 hr. The experimental results showed the dispersion numbers to be in the range of 0.017-0.320 and the short-circuit ratios in the range of 0.014-0.031, indicating the reactors having a high level of sort-circuiting and approaching complete-mix conditions. The removal efficiency of $BOD_5$ was found to be 67% and the $k_{30}$ values for $BOD_5$ was $2.04day^{-1}$. A modified complete-mix model based on the relationship between $BOD_5$ removal efficiencies and HRTs was developed and validated with actual-scale septic tank data having a correlation coefficient ($R^2$) of 0.90. Therefore, to better protect our environment and minimizing health risks, new generation toilets should be developed that could minimize short-circuiting and improving treatment performance.
In order to develop the semi-solid forming technology for magnesium alloy the rheological and thixotropic behavior of Mg alloy slurry with varying shear rates and cooling rates was investigated and simulated with considering the viscosity based on microstructures and processing variables. The viscosity of slurry of Mg alloy (AZ91D) in semi-solid region was exponentially increased with a solid fraction, and was decreased with increasing a shear rate. In order to analyze precisely the rheological behavior, the ANYCAST program modified with the Carreau model and the different heat transfer coefficient between the cast and mold was used to simulate the flow behavior of Mg semi-solid slurry during the injection into a casting mold in a high pressure diecasting machine. The simulated rheological behavior of Mg alloy slurry was matched well with the experimental results.

A forced vibration model of a rail system was established using the Timoshenko beam theory to determine the dynamic response of a rail under time-varying load considering the damping effect and stiffness of the elastic foundation. By using a Fourier series and a numerical method, the critical velocity and dynamic response of the rail were obtained. The forced vibration model was verified by using FEM and Euler beam theory. The permanent deformation of the rail was predicted based on the forced vibration model. The permanent deformation and wear were observed through the experiment. Parametric studies were then conducted to investigate the effect of five design factors, i.e., rail cross-section shape, rail material density, rail material stiffness, containment stiffness, and damping coefficient between rail and containment, on four performance indices of the rail, i.e., critical velocity, maximum deflection, maximum longitudinal stress, and maximum shear stress.

Eosin yellow is used a dye and colorant but it is harmful toxic substance. In this paper, batch adsorption studies were carried out for equilibrium, kinetics and thermodynamic parameters for eosin yellow adsorption by activated carbon with varying the operating variables like pH, initial concentration, contact time. Equilibrium adsorption data were fitted into Langmuir, Freundlich, Temkin and Dubinin-Radushkevich isotherms. By estimated Langmuir constant value, $R_L$=0.067-0.083, and Freundlich constant value, $\frac{1}{n}=0.237-0.267$, this process could be employed as effective treatment for removal of eosin yellow. From calculated Temkin constant, value, B=1.868-2.855 J/mol, and Dubinin-Radushkevich constant, value, E=5.345-5.735 kJ/mol, this adsorption process is physical adsorption. From kinetic experiments, the adsorption process were found to confirm to the pseudo second order model with good correlation coefficient($r^2$=0.995-0.998). The mechanism of the adsorption process was determined two step like as boundary and intraparticle diffusion.

In this paper, a design method for a compact stepped open slot antenna for an operation in the UWB band is studied. The proposed antenna is miniaturized by inserting L-shaped slots on the ground plane of the stepped open slot antenna through the creation of a resonance in the low frequency, and a strip director is appended to the antenna in order to increase the gain in the middle and high frequency regions. The effects of varying the length of the L-shaped slots, the distance between the director and the slot antenna, and the director length on input reflection coefficient and realized gain characteristics of the proposed antenna are analyzed. The optimized antenna with the size of $30mm{\times}30mm$ is fabricated on an FR4 substrate, and the experiment results show that the antenna has a frequency band of 3.02-11.04 GHz for a VSWR < 2, which assures the operation in the UWB band.

$Cu_2ZnSn(S,Se)_4(CZTSSe)$ thin film solar cells areone of the most promising candidates for photovoltaic devices due to their earth-abundant composition, high absorption coefficient and appropriate band gap. The sputtering process is the main challenge to achieving high efficiency of CZTSSe solar cells for industrialization. In this study, we fabricated CZTSSe absorbers on Mo coated soda lime glass using different pressures during the annealing process. As an environmental strategy, the annealing process is performed with S and Se powder, without any toxic $H_2Se$ and/or $H_2S$ gases. Because CZTSSe thin films have a very narrow stable phase region, it is important to control the condition of the annealing process to achieve high efficiency of the solar cell. To identify the effect of process pressure during the sulfo-selenization, we experiment with varying initial pressure from 600 Torr to 800 Torr. We fabricate a CZTSSe thin film solar cell with 8.24 % efficiency, with 435 mV for open circuit voltage($V_{OC}$) and $36.98mA/cm^2$ for short circuit current density($J_{SC}$), under a highest process pressure of 800 Torr.
Background: People who were born in different years, that is, different birth cohorts, grow in varying socio-historical and dynamic contexts, which result in differences in social dispositions and physical abilities. Methods: This study used age-period-cohort analysis method to establish explanatory models on healthcare expenditure in Korea reflecting birth cohort factor using intrinsic estimator. Based on these models, we tried to investigate the effects of ageing population on future healthcare expenditure through simulation by scenarios. Results: Coefficient of cohort effect was not as high as that of age effect, but greater than that of period effect. The cohort effect can be interpreted to show 'healthy ageing' phenomenon. Healthy ageing effect shows annual average decrease of -1.74% to 1.57% in healthcare expenditure. Controlling age, period, and birth cohort effects, pure demographic effect of population ageing due to increase in life expectancy shows annual average increase of 1.61%-1.80% in healthcare expenditure. Conclusion: First, since the influence of population factor itself on healthcare expenditure increase is not as big as expected. Second, 'healthy ageing effect' suggests that there is a need of paradigm shift to prevention centered-healthcare services. Third, forecasting of health expenditure needs to reflect social change factors by considering birth cohort effect.
Wind load acting on a standalone structure is different from that acting on a similar structure which is surrounded by other structures in close proximity. The presence of other structures in the surrounding can change the wind flow regime around the principal structure and thus causing variation in wind loads compared to a standalone case. This variation on wind loads termed as interference effect depends on several factors like terrain category, geometry of the structure, orientation, wind incident angle, interfering distances etc., In the present study, a three building configuration is considered and the mean pressure coefficients on each face of principle building are determined in presence of two interfering buildings. Generally, wind loads on interfering buildings are determined from wind tunnel experiments. Computational fluid dynamic studies are being increasingly used to determine the wind loads recently. Whereas, wind tunnel tests are very expensive, the CFD simulation requires high computational cost and time. In this scenario, Artificial Neural Network (ANN) technique and Support Vector Regression (SVR) can be explored as alternative tools to study wind loads on structures. The present study uses these data-driven approaches to predict mean pressure coefficients on each face of principle building. Three typical arrangements of three building configuration viz. L shape, V shape and mirror of L shape arrangement are considered with varying interfering distances and wind incidence angles. Mean pressure coefficients (Cp mean) are predicted for 45 degrees wind incidence angle through ANN and SVR. Further, the critical faces of principal building, critical interfering distances and building arrangement which are more prone to wind loads are identified through this study. Among three types of building arrangements considered, a maximum of 3.9 times reduction in Cp mean values are noticed under Case B (V shape) building arrangement with 2.5B interfering distance. Effect of interfering distance and building arrangement on suction pressure on building faces has also been studied. Accordingly, Case C (mirror of L shape) building arrangement at a wind angle of 45º shows less suction pressure. Through this study, it was also observed that the increase of interfering distance may increase the suction pressure for all the cases of building configurations considered.

In this paper, the physical model and governing equations of a shallow arch with a moving boundary were studied. A model with a moving boundary can be easily found in a long span retractable roof, and it corresponds to a problem of a non-cylindrical domain in which the boundary moves with time. In particular, a motion equation of a shallow arch having a moving boundary is expressed in the form of an integral-differential equation. This is expressed by the time-varying integration interval of the integral coefficient term in the arch equation with an un-movable boundary. Also, the change in internal force due to the moving boundary is also considered. Therefore, in this study, the governing equation was derived by transforming the equation of the non-cylindrical domain into the cylindrical domain to solve this problem. A governing equation for vertical vibration was derived from the transformed equation, where a sinusoidal function was used as the orthonormal basis. Terms that consider the effect of the moving boundary over time in the original equation were added in the equation of the transformed cylindrical problem. In addition, a solution was obtained using a numerical analysis technique in a symmetric mode arch system, and the result effectively reflected the effect of the moving boundary.
