  • This paper proposes color databases that can be used for various purposes for people with a color vision deficiency (CVD). The purpose of this paper is to group colors within the sRGB gamut into the CIE $L^*a^*b^*$ color space using the Brettel algorithm to simulate the representative colors of each group into colors visible to people with a CVD, and to establish a confusion line database by comparing colors that might cause confusion for people with different types of color vision deficiency. The validity of the established confusion lines were verified by using an Ishihara chart. The different colors that confuse those with a CVD in an Ishihara chart are located in the same confusion line database for both protanopia and deutanopia. Instead of the 3D RGB color space, we have grouped confusion colors to the CIE $L^*a^*b^*$ space coordinates in a more distinctive and intuitive manner, and can establish a database of colors that can be perceived by people with a CVD more accurately. • Various interpolations for digital imaging devices with a single image sensor have proposed. However, conventional methods did not consider the resolution modus of image sensor using periodic sampling. Therefore, the resulting images have problems such as quality degradation and color artifacts(color moire, zipper). In this paper, we propose a color interpolation algorithm for pixel resolution modus of image sensor. The proposed algorithm consisted of an initial step to compensate edge prediction effectively and refinement step using minimum directions for pixel resolution modus. To analyze a result of the proposed algorithm with conventional methods, we evaluated subjectively using images quality comparison and objectively using PSNR(Peak Signal to Noise Ratio). Experimental results showed that the proposed algorithm was more successful in eliminating the color artifacts than conventional methods judged by both objective and subjective criteria.

  • A study on image searching and management techniques is actively developed by user requirements for multimedia information that are existing as images, audios, texts data from various information processing devices. If we can automatically detect and segment changing scenes from real-time image sequences, we can improve an effectiveness of image searching systems. In this paper, we propose cut detection techniques based on image color distribution and we evaluated its performance on various real-time image sequences. Results of experiments show that the proposed method are robust on various image patterns than color histogram method using statistical informations of images. Also, these methods can be used for cut detection on real-time image sequences.

  • Multimedia is a ubiquitous and indispensable part of our daily life and learning such as audio, image, and video. Objective and subjective quality evaluations play an important role in various multimedia applications. Blind image quality assessment (BIQA) is used to indicate the perceptual quality of a distorted image, while its reference image is not considered and used. Blur is one of the common image distortions. In this paper, we propose a novel BIQA index for Gaussian blur distortion based on the fact that images with different blur degree will have different changes through the same blur. We describe this discrimination from three aspects: color, edge, and structure. For color, we adopt color histogram; for edge, we use edge intensity map, and saliency map is used as the weighting function to be consistent with human visual system (HVS); for structure, we use structure tensor and structural similarity (SSIM) index. Numerous experiments based on four benchmark databases show that our proposed index is highly consistent with the subjective quality assessment.

  • In this paper, This study proposes a method that use the whole face as features by using a color information and KLT that overcome the weak points of existing face extraction and face recognition. The significant information among the features of face is extracted by PCA which uses KLT. In this paper, you will find that the recognition efficiency is over 90% for the faces that have various size and angle by proposing the face recognition method using color information and the KLT.

  • Recently, various search techniques using artificial intelligence techniques have been introduced. It is also possible to use the artificial intelligence to grasp customer propensity. Analyzing the clothes that customers usually wear, it is possible to analyze various colors such as favorite colors, patterns, and fashion styles. In this study, we use artificial intelligence technology to create an application that distinguish between adults and children by combining various factors such as shape, type, color and size of human clothes. Through this, it will be possible to utilize it in a living area where children can be protected in advance by grasping the intrusion of unauthorized adults in the living area where children live mainly. In addition, in the future, we can obtain good results to detect stranger adult person if we apply this experimental result to the detection system using clothing information.

  • To obtain various colors from the blue emitting poly(fluorene)s, two different approaches are introduced. One is copolymerization with low band gap comonomers and the other is molecular doping with various dyes. As fast and efficient exciton migration and trapping and/or energy transfer between the chromorphoric segments or doped dyes in conjugated polymers can shift the emission to longer wavelengths, these phenomena can be utilized to obtain various colors from the intrinsically blue light emitting poly(fluorene)s.

  • This paper describes a hardware-oriented algorithm and its conceptual implementation in a real-time speed limit traffic sign detection system on an automotive-oriented field-programmable gate array (FPGA). It solves the training and color dependence problems found in other research, which saw reduced recognition accuracy under unlearned conditions when color has changed. The algorithm is applicable to various platforms, such as color or grayscale cameras, high-resolution (4K) or low-resolution (VGA) cameras, and high-end or low-end FPGAs. It is also robust under various conditions, such as daytime, night time, and on rainy nights, and is adaptable to various countries' speed limit traffic sign systems. The speed limit traffic sign candidates on each grayscale video frame are detected through two simple computational stages using global luminosity and local pixel direction. Pipeline implementation using results-sharing on overlap, application of a RAM-based shift register, and optimization of scan window sizes results in a small but high-performance implementation. The proposed system matches the processing speed requirement for a 60 fps system. The speed limit traffic sign recognition system achieves better than 98% accuracy in detection and recognition, even under difficult conditions such as rainy nights, and is implementable on the low-end, low-cost Xilinx Zynq automotive Z7020 FPGA.

  • In the field of content-based image retrieval, various mathematical low-level features have been proposed to describe the perceptual content of images. Since most of the features are assumed to be independent of each other, one feature is extracted from images without any consideration of the other features. Recently proposed CCE and SCFT taking advantage of the correlation between color and texture have shown relatively good performance. In this paper, the performance of CCE, SCFT, and the traditional regular weighted comparison method are evaluated. Simulation results with natural images have shown that CCE outperforms the other methods.

  • We discuss main techniques to improve legibility of electroluminescent displays. Emphasis is placed on use of destructive optical interference to cancel ambient light reflected from the back electrode of the device. Basic optical principles and material composition of the optical interference contrast-enhancing stack (CES) are presented. We also describe the improved human factors of electroluminescent devices assisted with a CES. Achromatic contrast is the most important contributor to display's legibility. In some conditions color contrast may also be important. Contributing to both luminance and color contrast enhancement, the contrast-enhancing stack may play an important role in various display applications.
