Comparative Study on the Maximum Principal Stress of Non-Reinforced Concrete Caused by Impact Load (충격 하중을 받은 무근콘크리트의 최대주응력 비교 연구)

  • In this study, the inner principal stress of concrete blocks caused by an impact load was analyzed with a finite element program, Visual FEA, which was used to model the cross section of the concrete blocks. As a result, it was found that the deviation of the maximum principal stress was varied 2 to 3 times depending on the physical properties of the concrete blocks.

  • Form-ratio means the ratio of height/Width/Depth in 3-dimensions. The golden ratio or golden section is included as one of the form-ratio. We conducted two kinds of kansei experiments of cubic model and refrigerator varied from 1:1:1 to 1:1:3.66 on the scale of x:y:z. The subjects evaluate the form-ratios of 3-dimensional cubes and virtual products with SD-scale Kansei words(feelings and images). We applied the factor analysis to identify semantic space in cube model and virtual products. Finally, we compared with kansei structure of cube model and virtual product.

  • As methane concentration was varied, the textures of diamond films deposited on Si(100)substrate were observed by XRD,SEM and Raman spectroscope. As a result, $O_{2}$ plasma etching has been useful to observe microscopic structure of diamond films by SEM. The cross section of diamond films deposited on Si(100)substrate with 4% concentration of methane to hydrogen was a polycrystal like a pillar. The diamond crystal like a pillar has been oriented to (110)surface and the high quality diamond film with FWHM of Raman spectra being 3.8 $cm^{-1}$ / has been grown.   • It is very important to pay careful attention to construction of bridge/earthwork transition zone for high-speed railway. The transition zone of the railway is the section which roadbed stiffness is suddenly varied. Differences in stiffness have dynamic effects and these increase the forces in the track and the extent of deformation. An abrupt change of stiffness across two adjacent track portions cause irregular settlement of roadbed, track irregularity, lack of girder bending moment and reduction of lateral resistance. Especially on high-speed railway, track irregularity of transition zone cause sincere effect to track stability and train safety. And so continuous maintenance is needed. To verify this effect and to improve transiton zone capacity, In situ test, track irregularity and train acceleration test were performed on high-speed railway bridge/earthwork Transiton Zone.

  • Systematic geometrical variation method of hull forms, such as "1 -Cp", "Swinging" and "Lackenby" are widely used in the early stage of a new design from those of a similar parent ship, which shows a better performance through the model test and/or sea trials. This method is simple and easy to modify original hull forms without changing the main characteristics. The shape of the prismatic curie can be easily varied by these methods, however, the frame line shape in the body plan can′t be generated easily, when the section shapes are complicated or have discontinuities or the mismatch of the body plan and the stem and stern profiles. To overcome this drawback of the hull form variations, a simple and useful method has been proposed in the present study.

  • This research deals with the nonlinearities of rocking vibration associated with impact and sliding on the rocking behavior of rigid block under two dimensional sinusoidal excitation which has different frequencies in two excitation direction. The varied excitation direction influences not only the rocking response but also the sliding motion and the rocking response shape. Chaotic responses are observed in wider excitation amplitude region, when the frequencies in each excitation direction are different. The complex behavior of chaotic response, in the phase space, is related with the trajectory of base excitation and sliding motion.

Hysteresis on Boiling Heat Transfer at Low Temperature on Enhanced Tubes in a Flooded Evaporator (만액식 증발기의 열전달 촉진관에서 저온 비등열전달의 이력현상 특성)

  • The boiling characteristics for R134a are studied to clarify the hysteresis at low temperature on enhanced tubes of a flooded evaporator. Initial boiling conditions, refrigerant temperature, and inlet temperature of the chilled water are considered as the key parameters of the experiments. Unlike previous studies of the boiling heat transfer with uniform heat flux and uniform wall temperature, the wall temperature was varied along the tube. In, this study, it was found that the hysteresis of the temperature overshoot (705) at the onset of nucleate boiling initially at the inlet section of the tube. It is also concluded that the abnormal operation can be avoided during the low temperature boiling if the refrigeration system is started with LMTD larger than $3.4^{\circ}C$ at initial stage and larger than $1.0^{\circ}C$ at normal stage.

  • In this paper, the influence of frictional conditions on the backward impact extrusion of aluminum battery casing with large aspect ratio has been investigated. In the simulation, MSC.Superforge, a package based on the finite volume method, is used for the extrusion analysis. The formability and earing problem during the production have been evaluated by studying the sensitivity to frictional effects. During the sensitivity analysis, the friction factor was varied from 0.02 to 0.24. As the friction factor is increased, the forming height of the narrow edge is decreased, and the forming height of the wide edge is increased. When the friction factor becomes 0.2, the earing problem does not occur The experimental results show a good agreement with analytical results.
