A Study of Optimal Design of the Proportional Load-Frequency Controller for a Self-service Power Station (주파수제어를 위한 비열제어기구의 최적설계에 관한 연구)

  • The object of this work is to study an optimal design problem of the proportional load-frequency controller for the single-control area power system. The selfservice power station is still a popular means as a power supplying source on ships or in a certain manufacturing area. The power system of this kind can be formulated as a single control-area system and it attracts a certain academic interest in controlling the system frequency under disturbances. In this paper, the single control-area system is mathematically formulated as a linear, time-invariant system in state-space under certain assumptions. The optimal proportional control law and the realization of the controller in closed loop-version is studied so that the final system designed can attain the system frequency to the nominal stationing value after the small load-disturbance. As in general cases of optimal design problems, the performance index is assumed to be quadratic in states and the control effort, and the infinite time control process is assumed in this work. The final control system realized depicts certain improvements in case study; in stability, transient responses and in steady-state frequency deviation, even though the steady state error did not attain the zero value.

  • In this paper, a grating to apply for the optical interconnection is designed using a Genetic Algorithm(GA) as a robust and an efficient schema. A hybrid optical interconnection system architecture is implemented by the liquid crystal panel as a programmable spatial light modulator. As the result of geometrical transformation to obtain the quantitative data for $3{\times}3$ spot beams at CCD array detector by optical experiment truthfully, the mean of beam intensity as a gray level is 202, the maximum value is 225, the minimum value is 186, and a uniformity is quantitatively $1.93{\times}10^{-1}$ similar to simulation result.

  • Less mature nuclear reactor technologies are characterized by a greater uncertainty due to insufficient detailed design information, operational data, cost information, etc., but the expected performance characteristics of less mature options are usually more attractive in comparison with more mature ones. The greater uncertainty is, the higher economic risks associated with the project realization will be. Within a comparative evaluation of less and more mature nuclear reactor technologies, it is necessary to apply economic risk measures to balance judgments regarding the economic performance of less and more mature options. Assessments of any risk metrics involve calculating different characteristics of probability distributions of associated economic performance indicators and applying the Monte-Carlo method. This paper considers the applicability of statistical risk measures for different economic performance indicators within a trial case study on a comparative evaluation of less and more mature unspecified LWRs. The presented case study demonstrates the main trends associated with the incorporation of economic risk metrics into a comparative evaluation of less and more mature nuclear reactor technologies.

  • The study develops methodological aspects for modeling the determining impact of modernization on the enterprise's economic security in development competitive conditions using the model of speed, stability and spaciousness of modernization. Modeling the determining impact of modernization on the enterprise's economic security in a competitive conditions involves: firstly, the formation of estimated modeling indicators in accordance with the speed, stability and spaciousness of the enterprise's modernization; secondly, establishing the weight of indicators in the assessment system using the tools of cognitive judgment; thirdly, the establishment of reference values of sound evaluation indicators; fourthly, the calculations of the integrated impact assessment of the modernization's determining impact modeling on the enterprise's ensuring economic security in a competitive conditions; fifthly, conducting calculations and analytical summarization of the results. To determine a comprehensive integrated indicator of the modernization changes impact on the competitiveness and economic security of enterprises, we use the correlation method of the calculated value with the reference value, as well as use weights for groups of calculations. Approbation of modeling of determining influence of modernization on maintenance of economic safety of the enterprise in competitive conditions of development by authors was carried out concerning such enterprises, as: JSC "Ukrzaliznytsia", SE "Ukraerorukh", SE IA "Boryspil", SE "Ukrposhta", KP "Kyivpastrans".

  • The fashion system has been criticized for relying on a linear economy to reduce short-term costs and increase profits. Meanwhile, the circular economy strives to expand the value chain through a closed loop for companies, society, and the environment by separating consumption from resources. This study aims to elucidate the strategic characteristics of the technological measures that fashion companies and brands are trying to innovate into a sustainable fashion system on the basis of the circular economy concept. Thus, we conducted case studies by dividing the value chain of the fashion system into design, production, and consumption to identify the technological development of the circular fashion system from a technologization perspective that incorporates technological values. First, design appeared to strengthen emotional durability, design and process with circulation in mind, and fashion product digitalization. Second, production manifested itself as material development for the new fiber economy, improvement of non-environmental processes, and customization of demand-driven, responsive production. Third, consumption was the spread of the environmental consumption culture through the sharing economy platform, the realization of a virtual wearing experience to prevent rapid disposal, and the provision of information on sustainable consumption.

  • Dense of population construction and high density of skyscraper, and geological characteristics caused natural disasters(e.g. typhoon, tsunami, flood, storm, earthquake, etc.) and manmade disasters(e.g. fire, collapse, explosion, traffic accident, etc.). the extent and scale of the disaster are getting larger. To cope with such problems, Busan City has established the basic plan to secure the life and property of the citizens through model strategy and design of Ubiquitous-Safety Busan. This study quantitatively analyzed the ripple effect on local economy through the fulfillment of Ubiquitous-Safety. The production inducing effect of 250 billion won directly and indirectly can be estimated due to the realization of Ubiquitous-Safety. The value added effect of 115 billion won can be estimated. the employment effect of 5,580 persons can be generated with income effect of 51 billion won.

  • The area of domestic urban design and architecture has established its original characteristics as various programs and functions were created in the drastically changing society. Such features have been presented in a certain type of patterns or unique formations, which demand a gradual development of designs in harmony with the functions and roles of the city and thus designers are forced to continue thinking deeply on this matter in their own perspectives. In particular, such demands are outstandingly high in reality in historical cities such as Andong, which this study works on. As the design contest winner is based on the geographical characteristics and locality, Confucianism and seonbi(Korean classical scholar) spirit, which are regarded as a philosophy of value, how the traditional concepts could be reflected in the plan was the focus of the discussion. The conclusions deduced from such a background include the following. First, it is necessary to make an approach on the basis of the concept in traditional architecture at the complex planning level based on the ideology in the implementation plan that requires traditionality for a complex design with contemporary functions. Second, it is important to approach this as an exploration of a solution to globalize Confucian culture in the future based on the cultural characteristics of the region and the environmental characteristics of the surroundings. Third, beginning from a concept that explains the complex to a concept that explains individual buildings, it is necessary to reflect characteristics in which the realization of a traditional space is planned in three dimensions.

FPGA Design and Realization for Scanning Image Enhancement using LUT Shading Correction Algorithm (LUT 쉐이딩 보정 알고리듬을 이용한 스캐닝 이미지 향상 FPGA 설계 구현)

  • This paper describes FPGA design and realization using the shading correction algorithm for a CCD scan image enhancement. The shading algorithm is used by LUT (Look-up Table). The image enhancement results from that the histogram minimum value and maximum with respect to all pixels of the CCD image should be extracted, and the shading LUT is constructed to keep constant histogram with offset data. The output of sensor be converted to corrected LUT image in preprocessing, and the converting system is realized by FPGA to be enabled to operate in real time. The result of the experimentation for the proposed system is showed to take the scanning time 2.4ms below. The system is presented to be based on a low speed processor system to scan enhanced images in real time and be guaranteed to be low cost.

  • The focus of design in the contemporary point of view has changed from the improvement in production efficiency for profitability and in styling for sales promotion to human-oriented design. Human-centered design has developed into design which includes social and ethical responsibility and values. With tradition and culture as a base the principles of markets and capital are incorporated as well. Such current design is the outcome of design which honors social values represented based on culture acquired from individuals and society and the the responsibility of the designer who provides it. For the realization of social values in design, it should be considered along with the influence of design on society, this study presented the following cases: First, human-oriented design for those who are isolated, but should not be ignored; Second, cultural-oriented design which makes a contribution to local conditions; and third, usability-oriented design which replaces familiar ideas with new paradigms. This study presented the function and meaning of design in terms of purpose and the methods to solve social and human problems using design. Further studies should deal with the realization and extension of social values through design.

  • Design takes concrete form from the things which are not yet exist to the molded reality. Creation of value which is accompanied by the rational value could be possible only through the searching examination of the basic concept. All designs are under circumstances because the results and the character of the problems are different under the given conditions and circumstances which are the characteristic of the design. The aim of this study is searching for the differential design conce- pt which is the most appropriate and reasonable in the basic design process in which the phase of the analysis, synthesis and evaluation of the problem. First of all the pursuit value of the times and the change of the view point of value of the product design. How the pursuit value of times were searched and analyzed. Analyze the successful product design realization of the typical trend of the modern design which are 3-2. function-focused design, 3-3. emotion-centered design, 3-4. image communicative design through the metaphor, 3-5. environmental affinity design. On the base of the case analysis how to apply the differential design concept which is coming as a trend in the future society which are sustainable developing society was examined closely. The outcome through the analysis of the success cases are as follows, \circled1 the value of the spirit of the times should be emphasized as the design image, \circled2 environmental appropriateness should be taken into consideration as the first primary factor, \circled3 the realization of value of the fulfillment of differential consumer's needs, \circled4 lead to prolong the life cycle of the product, \circled5 promote the sustaining growth of enterprise, \circled6 user-centered product value should be the first consideration. \circled7 It is necessary to overcome the cultural andinguistic barriers and to reflect the metaphor which people remember well. \circled8 The application of human's true character should be decided beforehand. It is the commonness of values of times and customs. \circled9 The differentiated design concept which meets our mental satisfaction, not material one, will be required. In addition to this the creative and differentiated design concepts which are accompanied by the good design factor under the base of product could achieve the emotional consensus from the consumers.
