Quantifying the amount of damage of structures under earthquakes is an interesting issue that researchers have attended on and have presented some damage indices. Whereas a lot of damage indices have been introduced based on nonlinear dynamic analysis, computational effort, the calculus complicacy and time-consuming of this analysis are the main drawbacks to widespread use of these indices. The objective of this study is to quantify the damage of Shear Wall Reinforced Concrete Frames (SWRCFs) based on pushover analysis as a procedure that can reflect the behavior of structures from elastic to collapse. For this purpose, firstly, several SWRCFs are designed and the capacity spectrum of each one is achieved via pushover analysis. After that, the static damage indices of the designed frames are obtained. Then, nonlinear dynamic analyses are performed on these frames and the Park and Ang damage index as the basis damage criterion is achieved. Afterward, some relations are presented to predict the dynamic damage of these frames via pushover analysis. Eventually, to confirm the validity of the proposed relations, the values of Park and Ang damage index of three new SWRCFs are acquired once utilizing nonlinear dynamic analysis and again applying the introduced relations. Outcomes prove the validity of some presented damage indices.
General lawsuits can be chosen as a method of resolving patent disputes. However, a significant amount of time and money is wasted on litigation until the dispute is resolved. The Intellectual Property Framework Act in Korea requires the government to simplify litigation procedures and improve litigation systems to resolve intellectual property disputes quickly and fairly. As a result, accurate and timely resolution of patent disputes is given importance by the Korean government. Interest in arbitration as an alternative method of dispute resolution is growing. Although dispute resolution through arbitration is effective, the issue of resolving patent disputes through arbitration can lead to the arbitrability of patent disputes. It is therefore necessary to examine arbitrability of patent contracts and validity disputes. Korea has made efforts to reflect the model arbitration law of the United Nations Commission on International Trade Law for quick judicial resolution of patent disputes. Korea has also strengthened related systems for alternative resolutions. However, improving the arbitration system will necessitate a thorough examination of the systems and practices of the United States which is the country in the forefront of intellectual property. This paper examines the arbitrability of Korea's patent dispute and makes recommendations for more efficient dispute resolution system changes.
World Health Organization reveals its plan for listing 'Gaming Disorder' on the 11th International Disease Codes (ICD-11) in 2018 and it opens hot debate among scholars on its validity and timeliness. Korea, however, seems to have avoided the issue without appropriate academic refutation. In this paper, we review past academic studies related to game addiction or disorder focused on their validity of disorder measurement tools, research designs and the effect of neuroimaging studies. This analysis reveals that excessive use of gaming is not sufficient to register it as a disease and there is a risk of stigmatizing healthy gamers.
The United Nations Convention on Contract for the International Sale of Goods(CISG) is legislated for unified of international sale of goods, but does not cover all concerns related to that. Arilce 4 provides the exclusions of CISG. These exclusions might be govern by a domestic law. This paper analyses what are excluding under CISG Article 4, and then provides the Korean and Chinese domestic regulations related to them. At first, whether some issues are excluding based on the interpretation of CISG Article 4 depends on the agreement of parties concerned. An issue that a national law applies even might be invalid if it does not follow the general principles of CISG. In Conclusion, CISG does not cover the validity of the contract and the property in the goods sold under CISG Article 4. a company who trades with Chines company should understand the differences of both countries' regulations about the validity of the contract and the effect of property transfer and be careful to decide a govern law to avoid unnecessary disputes about these issues even though their contract is govern by CISG.
Recently, the regulation issues for the zero-rating began to be proliferated. The corresponding regulators in charge of Internet services of all the countries of the world illustrated the various spectrums, rather than the similar policy line. In contrast, the oversee regulators not only recognized that zero-rating might be somethings to do with the net neutrality regulation, and but also actively debated regarding the validity for the regulation. However, any domestic study examining the issue has not endeavored yet. Therefore, the purpose of the study is to identify the validity of net neutrality regulation of zero-rating. Specifically, the study provided the features of zero-rating, the relationship with this new regulation and traditional regulations, and the various arguments and policies in major countries. The results of the study would be utilized as a reference in planning the regulation and countermeasure, from the corresponding policy makers and business operators.

Conventional fuzzy c-means (FCM) algorithms have achieved a good clustering performance. However, they do not fully utilize the spatial information in the image and this results in lower clustering performance for images that have low contrast, vague boundaries, and noises. To overcome this issue, we propose an enhanced spatial fuzzy c-means (ESFCM) algorithm that takes into account the influence of neighboring pixels on the center pixel by assigning weights to the neighbors in a $3{\times}3$ square window. To evaluate between the proposed ESFCM and various FCM based segmentation algorithms, we utilized clustering validity functions such as partition coefficient ($V_{pc}$), partition entropy ($V_{pe}$), and Xie-Bdni function ($V_{xb}$). Experimental results show that the proposed ESFCM outperforms other FCM based algorithms in terms of clustering validity functions.
As the attitudes toward women is ambivalent (both hostile and ambivalent), people have a tendency to have ambivalent attitudes toward men. Despite conflicts between men and women caused by misogyny and misogyny have recently worsened in a Korean society, most of previous Korean studies have focused on the attitudes toward women. In addition, there has been no scale to measure such ambivalent attitudes toward men in Korea. Therefore, this study was designed to translate and validate the Ambivalence toward Men Inventory, a scale developed and currently utilized in the United State. Sample 1 (183 college students), sample 2 (300 college students), and sample 3 (317 adults) were used. Exploratory and confirmatory factor analyses resulted in 16 items and 2 factors. The tests of convergent and concurrent validity revealed strong evidence for the validity of the Korean version of the Ambivalence toward Men Inventory and the reliabilities of the two factors were .830~.917.
The purpose of the study was to validate the Korean version of the Heterophobia Scale for Gay Male (HGM). Heterophobia refers to the rejection, fear, and avoidance that sexual minorities feel against of heterosexuals. The three subscales of HGM assesses the unease/avoidance, disconnectedness, and expected rejection fromwith heterosexual male. To validate the Korean HGM, item translation, item analysis, and exploratory factor analysis were conducted. From the Using exploratory factor analysis of the Korean version of the HGM(N=213), per 13 items, a 3-factor model consisting of 13 items wereas determined. The Cconfirmatory factor analysis supported the goodness of fit of the 3-factor structure of the K-HGM (N=153) and showed adequate model fit, K-HGM showed adequate the internal consistency, convergent validity, discriminant validity and Criterion validity was good with other related scales (K-SOMS, K-MISS-G, SDS-9, and RS). In conclusion, the K-HGM is a valid measure of heterophobia for gay male within the Korean population. Based on the findings, implications, practical use, limitations, and suggestions for future study are discussed.
Artificial intelligence (AI) will likely affect various fields of medicine. This article aims to explain the fundamental principles of clinical validation, device approval, and insurance coverage decisions of AI algorithms for medical diagnosis and prediction. Discrimination accuracy of AI algorithms is often evaluated with the Dice similarity coefficient, sensitivity, specificity, and traditional or free-response receiver operating characteristic curves. Calibration accuracy should also be assessed, especially for algorithms that provide probabilities to users. As current AI algorithms have limited generalizability to real-world practice, clinical validation of AI should put it to proper external testing and assisting roles. External testing could adopt diagnostic case-control or diagnostic cohort designs. A diagnostic case-control study evaluates the technical validity/accuracy of AI while the latter tests the clinical validity/accuracy of AI in samples representing target patients in real-world clinical scenarios. Ultimate clinical validation of AI requires evaluations of its impact on patient outcomes, referred to as clinical utility, and for which randomized clinical trials are ideal. Device approval of AI is typically granted with proof of technical validity/accuracy and thus does not intend to directly indicate if AI is beneficial for patient care or if it improves patient outcomes. Neither can it categorically address the issue of limited generalizability of AI. After achieving device approval, it is up to medical professionals to determine if the approved AI algorithms are beneficial for real-world patient care. Insurance coverage decisions generally require a demonstration of clinical utility that the use of AI has improved patient outcomes.
The purpose of this study was to analyze the influence of participative leadership on the job commitment of employees and to investigate the mediating effect of psychological empowerment and the moderating effect of issue leadership. A survey was conducted on employees working in various industries and analyzed using PROCESS macro (Hayes, 2013). The reliability and validity of measurement tools were reviewed through a preliminary survey, and the timing of measurement of independent variable and dependent variable was separated to overcome the common method bias. The results of the study are as follows. First, it has been confirmed that participative leadership has a positive influence on employee's job commitment. Second, participative leadership strengthened the psychological empowerment of employees, and through it, the indirect effect of improving the employee's job commitment was confirmed. Third, the moderating effect of issue leadership was confirmed in the relationship between participative leadership and psychological empowerment. Fourth, the moderated mediating effect was confirmed that the effect of participative leadership on job commitment through psychological empowerment is reinforced by issue leadership. This study contributes to the expansion of existing leadership research by empirically identifying the mechanism between participative leadership and employee's job commitment. Implications regarding the results of the study, limitations of the study, and future study tasks were discussed.
