  • Recently, immersive VR/AR contents have actively increased, and various services related to VR/AR allow users to experience remote places. For example, if failure situations occur frequently in factory of the remote site, mixed reality (MR) with a synthetic virtual human expert in reconstructed remote location can help immediate maintenance task with interaction between the operator and the virtual expert. In this paper, we present a technique for synthesizing the virtual human after capturing a 360-degree panorama of a remote environment, and analyze the effects to apply a method of guiding virtual human by interaction types. According to this paper, it was shown that co-presence level significantly increased when verbal, facial expression, and non-verbal animation of the virtual human was all expressed.

  • With the development of online education due to COVID-19, the EduTech market, which combines new technologies such as AI and AR/VR in education is rapidly growing. In addition, the children's industry is steadily growing despite the decreasing birth rate every year as more and more families with one child per household are investing in their children. However, supply of contents to EduTech market is slow compared to demands that are increasing. Therefore, the purpose of this paper is to help solve these problems by developing and supporting AR kids contents with convenience, practicality, and efficiency using AR technology. AR content for supporting vocabulary learning for infants is not just an end to watching and listening, but an observation-driven model that can manipulate content directly, which attracts children's interest and helps children learn words. This paper is intended for infants from 15 months to 36 months old when full-fledged language development occurs.

  • With the rapid development of digital technology and the growing trend to integrate it into the medical field, recent studies suggest language rehabilitation for people with aphasia using virtual reality (VR), augmented reality (AR) and mobile applications. This study conducted a scoping review to summarize the features of digital technology-based language rehabilitation for aphasia in the last four years (2018-2021) and draw implications for future research. A total of 20 papers met the selection criteria among the documents retrieved from the Web of Science, CINAHL, and RISS. This review demonstrates that digital technology could offer unique treatment content by gamification, individualization, and creating a realistic communication environment, and by utilizing them in various ways. Therefore, we expect digital technology-based language rehabilitation for aphasia could supplement the limitations of conventional language rehabilitation and provide a novel perspective on development of treatment content.

  • Purpose: This study started with the question of how to use Virtual Reality (VR) contents as a part of the non-face-to-face education tool that has recently attracted attention. Methods: In this paper, the use of VR contents as an educational tool is explained as a process of 'new media access dimension'. The question was explored on why Virtual Reality (or Augmented Reality) contents are not used as educational tools in the educational field. Results: As a result, the lack of 'material access' such as devices and infrastructure affects 'motivational access' approach stage, which is the previous stage. Again, it has a negative effect on literacy, which is 'skill access' approach stage. As it was found that it was not circulating to the level of "motive-material-skill-usage", it was discussed that it was taking a different step from the past adoption process of ICT and smart media. Conclusion: Based on this, it is believed that immersive content will contribute to arousing interest that can be applied and spread in the educational field, and it is also thought that it will be possible to derive academic interest in the educational effect according to the characteristics of immersive content such as VR.

  • This study investigated the characteristics of pre-service elementary teachers' TPACK in science lesson planning using VR/AR content based on epistemic network analysis (ENA). Seven TPACK coding elements were derived inductively based on the existing TPACK framework. Then, the pre-service elementary teachers' discourse in science lesson planning was coded according to the seven TPACK coding elements and analyzed using the ENA Web Tool. The discourses of the two groups were analyzed and compared, and the differences between the two groups, which the researchers analyzed qualitatively, were clearly shown on the ENA graph. Based on these findings, the researchers argued that the ENA method is a useful research tool for analyzing the complex interactions of technology knowledge (TK), content knowledge (CK), and pedagogical knowledge (PK), which is different from previous TPACK research. Also, the researchers discussed the implications for the TPACK competency development of pre-service teachers by comparing the characteristics of the two groups' discourse.

  • In this study, in line with the era of the fourth industrial revolution, general concepts, technologies, trends, and examples of virtual reality and augmented reality were examined, and based on this, a plan that could be applied to libraries in the future was proposed. As a result of the study, first, it is necessary to construct a smart space as an experiential play space that can satisfy cultural desires transcending time and space by providing immersive contents using 4th technology such as VR and AR. Second, it is necessary to expand experiential cultural support services through VR, AR and MR. Third, to develop educational contents based on augmented reality technology. In order to apply and activate virtual reality and augmented reality in libraries in the future, based on a survey of librarians and users of public libraries, a survey on the application status, satisfaction, and demand of current public libraries should be conducted.

  • Cultural contents are the most important factor in high speed and high quality data communication. High-quality content includes VR and AR technology, and a variety of high-quality content can be streamed over wireless mobile phones via smartphones. In addition, network and wired/wireless communication are inevitably required in an Internet of Things (IoT) environment in which things are connected to a wireless Internet. IoT is used in various network technologies such as 4G, 5G mobile communication, WIFI wireless LAN, Bluetooth and so on. It is a technology that can use the connection between things anytime, anywhere, and can be achieved in a wireless mobile communication environment. Therefore, in this paper, we study data error compensation estimation method which can reduce data error based on mobile communication channel environment analysis so that high quality contents can be serviced even in high speed mobile environment.

  • The Korean game industry has stopped growing due to internal and external instability. It is the fourth industrial revolution that has been mentioned as a new breakthrough in the domestic game industry in front of these internal and external instabilities. The fourth industrial revolution is changing the paradigm of the existing industrial structure, and has brought ecological changes not only to the manufacturing industry but also to the contents industry as a whole. In this paper, we will explore the development direction of domestic game industry through the 4th industrial revolution and study the relation between development of AI and AR / VR and game industry which will be the main core of the fourth industrial revolution in the future.

  • This study organizes policy tasks currently being promoted by the government to revitalize the domestic VR and AR industries, which are evaluated to be stagnant compared to major overseas countries, and aims to derive priorities through analysis of an AHP survey for experts in the VR/AR field, and to seek countermeasures based on the analysis results. As a result of classification based on various previous studies, press releases, and policy data, it was divided into 5 major categories and 16 sub-categories: technical issues, awareness improvement, legal/institutional improvement, government support, and manpower development. As a result of the AHP analysis, in the major category, the "government support" appeared as the top priority policy task, followed by the "manpower development". In the sub-categories, "training new manpower" was the most important policy implementation task, followed by "enhancing technological competitiveness". This study is meaningful in that it selects and presents prioritized policy tasks that clearly reflect the position and perspective of the industry on the policy-making situation exposed to the limitations of time and resources, while also presenting practical improvement plans.

  • Authoring AR(augmented-reality) contents not only takes too much time and cost, but also needs the help of professionals in the areas of computer science, VR(virtual reality), AR, 3D computer graphics, computer vision, etc. In this paper, we analyze the difficulties(inherent to developing AR contents) into three problems and present a formalized authoring approach for AR contents. The proposed approach is based on the Statecharts, which was originally designed for modeling real-time embedded systems. In order to apply he Statecharts to modeling AR contents, we defined the semantics of the Statecharts and various events for interaction modeling.
