피혁산업장의 휘발성유기화합물(VOCs) 배출 특성에 관한 연구 (A Study on the VOCs Emission Characteristics in Leather Industries)

  • The concentrations of major volatile organic compounds (VOCs) were measured using a passive sampler in the leather industries, Shihwa and Banwol industrial complex. The leather industries were classified into four groups in raw materials and main product. The concentrations of total VOCs measured in process for ${\ulcorner}$ manufacture of reconstituted leather and special treated leather${\lrcorner}$was highest. The main VOCs measured in the leather industries was found to be toluene with a average concentration of 1,200 ppb. The major group selected in the leather industries was divided into three groups by the fingerprint analysis and the principal component analysis. The major VOCs in the groups classified by fingerprint analysis were found to be dependent on the characteristics of raw materials and main products.

  • Wastewater sludge and composted food wastes were examined as the alternatives of a landfill cover for soils to eliminate the emission of VOCs. The benefit of these alternatives is in their high sorption capacity, which is 5 to 50 times higher than natural soils. After sorption is finished, biodegradation is an important mechanism in decrease of VOCs concentration. In order to investigate appropriate VOCs degradation condition, biodegradation batch experiment is being conducted with isolated strain X9-c. Both benzene and TCE were degraded only in soil with 12%(water volume/sorbent volumn) water condition. When the water condition varied from 12 to 48% in compost, optimum water conditions of composted food waste was 36%.

  • Volatile Organic Compounds(VOCs) contribute to the formation of ozone and PAN which are injurious to health through complex photochemical reactions. Growing consumption of fossil fuels results in significant emission of VOCs and other air pollutants into the atmosphere. This study was carried out to evaluate of Volatile Organic Compounds(VOCs) concentrations in Kumi industrial complex. Ambient air sampling was determined at five sites from August to September in 2002. The Volatile Organic Compounds samples were collected using the silicocan canisters, and were determined by GC/MS which connected preconcentrator system. The Kumi industrial complex of VOCs concentrations were generally similar with Yeochun's but some of VOCs concentrations of Kumi were higher than Yeochun industrial complex's. Also the industrial area was higher than downtown and residential district.

  • The aim of this study is to investigate the emission characteristics of volatile organic compounds from the interior materials of railroad rolling stock. Samples for VOCs were collected using a environmental chamber and the samples were analyzed for 35 individual compounds. 6 different types of materials, seat cover and flour material of Mugunghwaho, Saemaeulho and electric rolling stock were analysed. The results were expressed as concentrations over 12, 18, 24, 36 and 48 hours. VOCs concentrations were measured to be higher in the 12 hours than in the 48 hours. Floor material of Mugunghwaho showed the highest concentration of all studied materials. Followed by floor materials of Saemaeulho and electric rolling stock.

  • Air quality monitoring is a primary activity for industrial and social environment. The government identifies the pollutants that each industry must monitor. Especially, the VOCs (Volatile Organic Compounds), which are very harmful to human body and environment atmosphere, should be controlled under the government policy. However, the VOCs, which have not been confirmed in emission sources are very difficult to monitor. It is needed to develop the monitoring system that allow the continuous and in situ measurement of VOCs mixture in different environmental matrices. Gas chromatography and mass spectrometry are the most prevalent current techniques among those available for the analysis of VOCs. But, they need a large size analytical instrument, which costs a great deal for purchase and operation. In addition, it has some limitations for realtime environmental monitoring such as location problems and slow processing time. Recently, several companies have commercialized a portable VOCs measurement systems, which cannot classify various kinds of VOCs but total quantities. We have developed a VOCs measurement system, which recognizes various kinds and quantities of VOCs, such as benzene, toluene, and xylene (BTX). Also, it can be used as a stand- alone type and/or fixed type in the vehicle with rack for real -time environmental monitoring.

  • 본 연구의 궁극적인 목적은 우리나라에서 현실적으로 적용하기 적합한 배출량 산정방법을 이용해 국내 최대규모의 비위생 매립지이며, 서울과 근접한 난지도 매립지에서의 VOCs 배출량을 산정하는 것이다. 난지도 매립지는 서울시 마포구 성산동과 상암동 일대에 위치해 있으며, 1977년 8월부터 매립이 시작되어 1992년 9월까지 총 15년 1개월간 매립되었다.(중략)
