  • Shieh and Wang [10] recently proposed an efficient mutual authentication scheme that combined the cost-effectiveness of operations of Lee et al. [6]. scheme and the security and key agreement of Chen and Yeh scheme. Shieh and Wang [10] scheme, however, does not satisfy the security requirements against a third party (the man-in the middle, attacker) that have to be considered in remote user authentication scheme using password-based smart cards. Shieh and Wang weaknesses are the inappropriateness that it cannot verify the forged message in 3-way handshaking mutual authentication, and the vulnerability that the system (server) secret key can easily be exposed. This paper investigates the problems of Shieh and Wang scheme in the verification procedure of the forged messages intercepted by the eavesdrop. An enhanced two-way remote user authentication scheme is proposed that is safe and strong against multiple attacks by adding the ability to perform integrity check on the server and proposed scheme is not expose user password information and the system's confidential information.

  • Due to the development of digital technology, users can record their daily lives without being restricted by time and space. The trend is growing rapidly, but lifelogging cases are still insufficient. Google's Timeline and domestic application 'Daily' were analyzed through in-depth interviews. Based on the Creating Pleasurable Interface Model, the factors influencing user satisfaction were identified by the Reckard 7-point scale based on the Honeycomb model. The results of the in-depth interviews and the 7-point scale were similar, and we could see what and why users preferred the recording application. This study is meaningful to evaluate the user experience for recording application and analyzing the needs of users obtained through in-depth interviews to assess the usability that provide a service record and recall.

  • Knowledge management is a core factor to achieve competitive advantage and improve the business performance. New information technology is also a core factor enabling the innovation of knowledge management. Semantic Web of which the goal is to realize machine-processable Web can't help affecting the knowledge management. Therefore, we empirically analyze the relationship between user's dissatisfaction and barriers or limitations of knowledge management and present methods allowing Semantic Web to overcome the limitations and to support knowledge management processes. Based on a questionnaire survey of 222 respondents, we found that the limitations of system qualities such as user inconvenience of knowledge management systems, search and integration limitations, and the limitations of knowledge qualities such as inappropriateness and untrust significantly affected the user dissatisfaction of knowledge management systems. Finally, we suggest a conceptual model of knowledge management systems of which components are resources, metadata, ontologies, and user & query layers.

  • We propose a personalized concept-based retrieval technique that uses domain ontology. Proposed system consist or representative concept extraction, user profile construction, and concept-based retrieval stages. First, we extract representative concept with using technique form contents and create the domain ontology. We compose user profile analysis that uses domain ontology for personalized concept-based retrieval. To verify the efficiency of the proposed technique, we perform experiment for Internet site in the engineering area. The results of experiment show that the proposed technique using the domain ontology and user profiles is more efficient than the existing techniques. Hence, the proposed concept-based retrieval technique can be expected to contribute to the development of an efficient personalized recommendation system or e-Commerce system.

  • The purpose of this study is to find out user preference on personification of the public service robot. Public service robot services in public places is increasing, which is expected to continue to increase. Proper anthropomorphism of robots has positive effect on user experience. On the other hand, when the level of likeness exceeds a certain point, it provokes strangeness and a sense of unease. Therefore, it is necessary to prepare standards for anthropomorphism required for public service robots. In order to find it, a survey and an in-depth interview were conducted. According to the analysis, people prefer verbal interaction with the robot, and the proper age for the voice is in their 20s and 30s. It is recommended that no biological signals appear on the robot and there is a need for personalized services. Through this research, it is expected that it will contribute to design of public service robots that enhance user experience.

  • Current DRM system has limitation in protection of user's privacy Therefore, many troubles are expected in service providing if it comes into the ubiquitous times of context-aware environment. HKUST Proposed a watermark-based web service DRM system. However, the relevant study does not consider ubiquitous environment and cannot provide service that considered a context. And privacy protection of a user is impossible. On the other hand, Netherlands Phillips laboratory indicated a privacy problem of a DRM system and they proposed an alternative method about this. However, in relevant study, a Sniffing/Replay attack is possible if communicated authentication information are exposed between a user and device. We designed web services adaptable privacy-aware DRM architecture which supplements these disadvantages. Our architecture can secure user authentication mechanism for sniffing/Replay attack and keep anonymity and protect privacy Therefore , we can implement the privacy-aware considered web service DRM system in Context-Aware environment.

  • Objective: This study aims towards exploring a model of the HCI evaluation methods to improve the usability of mobile device, based on a case of a Mobile PDA system in a Museum context. Background: Mobile PDA systems in a Museum context is widely utilized for the educational purposes, but it is criticized for low usability that the device only play a role in textbooks on legs without any interactive educational activities. Therefore, the usability improvements on the mobile PDA system should be considered. Method 1: This model was developed with a combination of the expert review and the user testing, and with a combination of the qualitative and quantitative studies. In more details, first of all, a qualitative study was conducted as a combination of three different methods: 1) expert review with heuristics, 2) interviews with persons working in a museum, and 3) contextual enquiry. Results 1: The experts review provided with critical usability issues, and the semi-constructive interview helped to understand the background of the mobile device. Lastly, the contextual enquiry showed user experience problems and directions of improving the device from user's perspective. Method 2: Based on the results of the qualitative study, a questionnaire was designed. Results 2: The analysis of the quantitative study was conducted to generalize the problems, and prioritize the direction of improving the device within the limitation of the cost and time in a museum. Conclusion: This study has implications in developing an example of a HCI evaluation model to improve the user experience of the mobile device as well as finding problems and directions of how to improve the mobile PDA systems in the museum. Application: In fact, most of the studies related to the evaluation of the mobile device have been conducted in a laboratory context due to the cost and time. This paper, however, attempted to apply to various HCI research techniques from different constituents in real context.

  • This study compares and analyzes the users' perspectives based on Sign Design, focusing on Lotte World and Ever-Land, which are representative theme parks, There is a purpose. Consider various design elements of sign design. And how they affect the user experience. First, theoretical backgrounds of theme park and sign design were examined through literature review, and the elements of sign design were compared and analyzed. Secondly, the questionnaire was reconstructed based on Peter Morville's Honeycomb Model. As a result, it was necessary to improve the accessibility and location of sign design. Based on this study, I hope that it will be used as a reference material to improve the user experience according to sign design in the future.

  • The study evaluates exploration of social robot's role which can emotionally communicate with human as an alternative to heal psychological isolation for single-person households. At first, I conduct a study on literatured to understand the definition and characteristics of social robot then analyze the current situation and future prospects. Based on this, I organized the requirements of social robot in aspect of user experience through in-depth interview of twenties single-person households living in the metropolitan area who could be potential customers. As a result every subject require social robot specialized to them through accumulated interaction. On the other hand, degree of attachment with social robot is different from subjects. Hear by I realize every subject require social robot to different and various functions according to their lifestyle and personality. Therefore I could draw conclusions and implications from this study that technical development in aspect of personalized user experience is necessary for social robot to settle in to human's life in the future.
