The Effect of Individual Motivated Propensity on Perceived Characteristics and Use Intentions for Mobile Medical Service (개인 동기성향의 차이가 스마트폰 의료서비스 사용의도에 미치는 영향에 대한 구조관계 연구)

  • This paper attempts to analyze how the psychological factors would have an effect on the user's intention to make use of the mobile care via smart-phone, identifying the relationships among individual motivation propensity that consists of prevention propensity and promotion propensity, perceived usefulness and ease of use, perceived cost, behavioral use attitude and use intention based on technology acceptance model, and verifying them empirically through the structural equation modeling. The findings are as the followings. First, prevention motivation propensity affects positively on usefulness of smart-phone for mobile care service, but there are no significant indications that it affects on the ease of use and perceived cost. Second, promotion propensity affects positively on perceived ease of use and perceived cost of smart-phone for mobile care service, but there is no significant indication that it affects on perceived usefulness. Third, perceived usefulness and ease of use, and perceived cost affects positively on the use attitude. In sum, this paper confirms that the prevention propensity and promotion propensity might be used as antecedent variables for developing new smart-phone services of mobile care.

Exploring the Factors of Serendipity in Online Video Environment (온라인 동영상 환경에서의 세렌디피티 요인에 관한 탐색)

  • Current video service market doesn't satisfy the users' needs who want to find new and interesting contents despite the vast amount of contents. Now it is continuously necessary to Study on technology and using experience is continuously required in online video service area to stimulate the watching motivation efficiently with such as recommendation or promotion. One of efficient ways of increasing the using motivation is to give the users pleasure when they use the services. This study focused on 'unexpected funny finding' as a strategy of providing pleasure of using. It was believed that it could increase the pleasure of using the service, if serendipity, which means unexpected pleasure, accidental finding such as finding a beautiful $caf{\acute{e}}$ or meeting a friend at a certain place unexpectedly, is applied. This study defines the serendipity as 'contents that give unexpected pleasure' at the online video environment. First it theoretically extracted the various characteristics of serendipity through reading many books. Next it verified the other concept of serendipity through the diary of users' survey to additionally extract the characteristics of serendipity at video environment that are hard to find in books. It formed estimation items for the characteristics of the extracted serendipity and tested them in youtube to confirm the characteristics of serendipity being found in video service and observe potential factors that make it. As a result if verified and confirmed four factors that cause serendipity at video environment. This study could be used as basic data to understand the concept of serendipity. It has an academic meaning in the point that it could be a useful reference for the future study that analyzes the role or effect of serendipity at IT area including online video service.

Consumer Acceptance of Mobile Gift Certificates - Focused on UTAUT2 - (밀레니얼 세대의 모바일 상품권 수용태도에 관한 연구 - 확장된 통합기술수용모형을 중심으로 -)

  • With the development and spread of smart devices, the proportion of mobile shopping is gradually increasing, and the market for mobile gift certificates is also increasing. This study examines the usage status and acceptance attitude of mobile gift certificates for university students who are major customers of mobile gift certificates. Also, based on the extended integrated technology acceptance model (UTAUT2), the results of the analysis of the mediating effect of the intention of the user on the relationship between acceptance of mobile vouchers and recommendation intention were presented. As a result of the analysis, it was shown that the effort expectation, hedonic motivation, price utility, and habit had significant influence on the intention to use the mobile gift certificates. Also, the intention to use mobile gift certificates has mediating effects between effort expectation, hedonic motivation, price utility and recommendation intention. The results of this study can be applied to strategic marketing such as recruitment of new customers through mobile gift certificates while explaining customers' acceptance of technology to mobile gift vouchers or future prospective customers.

A Study on the Status of Recognition and Practical Application of Oral Hygiene Devices : with outpatient as the central figure (치과병·의원 내원환자의 구강위생용품에 대한 인지도 및 사용실태에 관한 연구)

  • This study was carried out to investigate recognition level and practical application status of oral hygiene devices through making a survey of Seoul inhabitants. And survey was implemented in order to propose oral hygiene device for household health care activities. The following results were obtained by analyzing personal interviews of 347 commuting patients at two university hospitals and seven dental clinics. 1) The average length of toothbrush head was estimated as 22.3 mm and average changing cycle was 2.3 months. The user ratio of flat-headed brush was estimated as 51.9% and 46.7% were using fluoridated toothpaste. 2) Generally the ratio of toothpick users was higher than other device users. But the user ratio of dental floss was higher than toothpick in case of patients under orthodontic treatment. 3) The patients under orthodontic treatment were not familiar with handling orthodontic toothbrush. Though 45.8% among orthodontic patients recognized this type of toothbrush, only 25.4% of them knew how exactly to use it. 4) It was shown very low user ratio of oral hygiene devices that the patients who had periodontal problem, hypersensitive trouble, halitosis, implant or denture 5) The patients who had halitosis showed the highest user ratio of toothpick. The patients who had separation of teeth showed the highest user ratio of dental floss. The patients who're under orthodontic treatment showed the highest user ratio of interproximal brush and motorized brush. 6) In response to the most interesting dental disease, it's surveyed as follows; 60.3% of dental caries, 24.0% of periodontal disease, 14.8% of false occlusion and 0.9% of oral cancer. 7) Regarding the motivation of using those oral hygiene devices, 45% responded that it was because of recommendation by dental clinics. Among the negative answers, 38.6% responded that it was because of no selection guidance. 31.3% answered that they didn't use hygiene device because it's inconvenient. 12.0% answered that it's difficult to buy and expensive. 7.8% responded that they didn't feel significant improvement. 4.8% answered that dental hospitals and clinics didn't even introduce those hygiene devices. Therefore efficient campaign for those hygiene devices over all Korea nation should be developed and education program must be prepared for each case of patients in every dental hospitals and clinics.

N Screen Service Users' Motivations for Use and Dissatisfying Factors (N 스크린 서비스 이용자의 이용 동기와 불만족 요인에 관한 연구)

  • This research attempts to identify N-screen users' motivational and dissatisfying factors in relation to their willingness for continued future use of the service. An on-line survey was conducted (N=558) to reveal five major factors for N-screen use: Medium usability (interface usability and daily usefulness), Socialness (potential for social use with family and friends), Mobility (use without restraints of time and space), Contents (diversity of contents catalogue and related information search), and Habitual use. With exception of Contents factor, four of those factors were proven to be meaningful predictors of the users' willingness for continued future use of N-screen service. Meanwhile, two factors were extracted as the major source for N-screen users' dissatisfaction: Customer service (dissatisfaction associated with the service itself) and Contents (dissatisfaction relating to contents use). The effect of those two dissatisfaction factors was examined. The results show that Contents dissatisfaction, in comparison with Customer service dissatisfaction, was a more powerful predictor for discontinuing of N-screen service use.

Motivations for Sharing Photos and Videos on YouTube and Flickr (YouTube와 Flickr에 사진과 비디오를 공유하는 이용자 동기 연구)

  • This study mainly investigates the motivations of YouTube and Flicker users for posting videos or images/photos on each service. The motivational framework with ten factors such as enjoyment, self-efficacy, learning, personal gain, altruism, empathy, social engagement, community interest, reputation and reciprocity were used to test the motivations. Those who are users of YouTube and Flickr were recruited from Amazon Mechanical Turk to participate in online surveys. Findings show that learning and social engagement are the two most highly rated motivations. Altruism was rated relatively low, although it was strongly correlated with all other motivations. Personal gain was rated as the lowest by both users but Flickr users rated personal gain higher than YouTube users. Findings from this study could be applicable to specify user motivations for using the services and to upgrade the designs of the services in the future.

  • The convergence of telecommunications and broadcasting is representative of many innovative technologies in the digital environment. It has recently been emphasized as an alternative solution to overcome the on-going saturation of the telecommunications and broadcasting markets. Despite this effort, however, growth of the market and its related services cannot reach prior expectations due to lack of understanding on the real user-end. Telecommunications technology used to serve its instrumental purpose and broadcasting services usually support entertainment functions which in themselves have an inherent value. Our research questions what factors influence users' attitude and decision-making when it comes to using telecommunications-broadcasting convergence services. The research model of this paper proposes intrinsic motivator focusing on hedonic value, extrinsic motivator having utilitarian values, and perceived control as internal and external conditions. To verify our model empirically, we selected the DMB technology which is a good example of distinctive telecommunications-broadcasting convergence service.

  • Many studies on algorithm judging system which verifies the correctness and the time efficiency of your program have been underway recently, most of which are on an online judging system focused on programming contests. However this study is mainly about development and application of the judging system based on client-server. Especially, we designed to promote metacognition and motivation which are emphasized in CRESST model, and implemented the total system that consists of the problem, data set, validation program, and user service environments. We applied our system to elementary, middle, and high school students, and We noticed a significant difference of average score between the experimental and control group in posttest and concluded that the teaching method using our system gave the bigger positive effects on programming learning.

  • The purpose of this study was to provide information necessary for development of the applications that could facilitate the prevention and management of obesity in children with intellectual disabilities and to present improvement measure for development of practical applications. Mobile applications for prevention and management of obesity for children with intellectual disabilities need to be configured to enable effective flow of information and services delivered between parents and children with disabilities through applications. This configuration is expected to allow effective obesity control to be derived through parental involvement in the process of motivation.. The composition of contents consists of three parts: nutrition, exercise(physical activity), and lifestyle. It is desirable for each content to be applied in a simple but easy-to-understand method, reflecting the characteristics of an intellectually disabled child. In addition, this study presented the user expansion and their continuous involvement through interface simplification, alert function, reward, voice recognition and subtitle support strategies in consideration of the characteristics of the children with intellectual disabilities.

Profiling Usage Motivation in Micro-blogging Service by Q-methodology : The case of me2DAY (Q 방법론을 적용한 마이크로 블로깅 서비스의 이용 동기 유형 분석 : 미투데이 사례)

  • This study investigated the types of intention to use micro-blogging service. In this study, we classified micro-blogging users' motivations using Q methodology which enables measure objectivity with subjective activity like individual thinking and feeling. The results of this study showed that micro-blogging service users' motivationswere classified into four types. Type 1 is 'relationship oriented type' and Type 2 is 'self-expression type.' Type 3 is 'time consumption type' and Type 4 is 'information seeking type.' The findings imply that the characteristics of each user type can be utilized to customize micro-blogging services.
