As the interface area to provide various information to the passenger is being expanded, the research importance about smart car based user experience is rising. This study has a research objective to propose the guidelines regarding the smart car user experience elements. In order to conduct this study, smart car user experience elements were defined as function, interaction, and surface and through the discussions of UX/UI experts, 8 representative techniques, 14 representative techniques, and 8 locations of the glass windows were specified for each element. Following, the smart car users' priorities of the experience elements, which were defined through targeting 100 drivers, were analyzed in the form of questionnaire survey. The analysis showed that the users' priorities in applying the main techniques were in the order of safety, distance, and sensibility. The priorities of the production method were in the order of voice recognition, touch, gesture, physical button, and eye tracking. Furthermore, regarding the glass window locations, users prioritized the front of the driver's seat to the back. According to the demographic analysis on gender, there were no significant differences except for two functions. Therefore this showed that the guidelines of male and female can be commonly applied. Through user requirement analysis about individual elements, this study provides the guides about the requirement in each element to be applied to commercialized product with priority.

  • This study aimed to evaluate the user experience of hearable devices for seniors and suggest possible development directions. A literature review, case study, and in-depth interviews were conducted. Based on the literature review, convenience, accessibility, transmissibility, wearability, aesthetics, and interest were determined as the user experience factors of hearable devices. Then, in-depth interviews were conducted with 12 participants aged 60 or older regarding four devices. Participants tried four different types of wireless earphones which were selected based on a case study: open-type, kernel-type, neckband-type, and earring-type. Regarding convenience, the participants preferred to carry small devices and regarding accessibility, participants responded positively for most product types. For transmissibility and wearability, there were differences depending on whether devices were put on correctly, but the participants preferred products that did not wholly block external sounds. For aesthetics, participants preferred small and cutting-edge designs. Interest was noticeable among those who had not used the devices before, and for stability, the neckband-type was the most preferred. Based on the results we suggest designing small cutting-edge designs and button-type assist devices, not blocking the external sound, providing a participation program, simplifying device functions, and establishing a method that can be combined with and stored in clothes and a delivery method that can signal danger.

  • One of the most important parts of the user experience in mobile device interaction is navigation design. Navigation design plays a key role in enabling users to perform their desired functions and to access the information and content they need by mobile applications. In this process, differences in cultural characteristics and backgrounds of users may affect the navigation design, and thus the user experience may represent a significant difference. This study compared the navigation design of popular mobile shopping applications in China and the United States to examine the differences and analyzed the reasons. Based on this comparison, we proposed that the Chinese preferred rich information, colorful images and various menu styles, while Americans preferred simple designs, layouts and limited types of menu. In addition, two types of mobile shopping application navigation design schemes reflecting cultural characteristics were evaluated to examine the difference of Chinese and American users' preference, and the validity of our study was verified based on the results.

  • The purpose of this study is to examine the relationship between collaborative information seeking and users' learning style preferences and their experience of information systems. The study investigates the role of four different factors including learning style, task complexity, and user experience in collaborative information seeking in digital environments. Sixty participants (30 pairs) were randomly chosen from volunteer graduate students of Kharazmi University (Iran). Participants completed Kolb's learning style questionnaire and a user experience questionnaire and then performed two information seeking tasks (one simple and one difficult) in a lab setting. They could exchange information with their partners or a librarian using Skype. The sessions were recorded using Camtasia. The results showed that with an increase in task difficulty, collaborative information seeking activities increased and more interactions with partners and the librarian occurred. The number of executive help-seeking requests was higher than the number of instrumental help-seeking requests. This research confirms that learning style is related to the way users interact with the digital library and help seeking. The research showed that in difficult tasks, the differences among users with different learning styles become more evident, and that generally interactions increase in more difficult tasks. Among the learning styles, the accommodating style had the highest number of relationships with collaborative information seeking variables. Most of the statistically significant relationships between users' prior computer experience and collaborative information seeking variables were related to the time variable.
