  • Due to the explosive growth of online social network users, large numbers of users discover these social network sites are a place where they can be able to spend their spare time, share feelings, ideas freely, and to search for new friends or partners. These web sites give an opportunity for its users to socialize with new people and to keep in touch or reconnect with current or old friends and families across disperse continents via these web sites, which traditionally replace the traditional methods. These social network web sites need careful investigations and findings on the usability for effective interactivity and more usability. However, little research might have previously invested on the usability of these on social network web sites. Therefore, we propose a new framework to study the usability of these social network sites. We namely call our framework "Interactivity". This framework will enable us to assess the usability of the social network sites. It will provide an overview of the user's behavior while interacting in these social network web sites. Measurement of the interactivity will be measured using Camtasia software. This software will entirely capture the interactivity of users including the screen and the movements, which the screen and the motion of the user action will undergo to analysis at the end of our research.

  • The emotional interface is essential technology for the robot to provide the proper service to the user. In this research, we developed emotional components for the service robot such as a neural network based facial expression recognizer, emotion expression technologies based on 3D graphical face expression and joints movements, considering a user's reaction, behavior selection technology for emotion expression. We used our humanoid robots, AMI and AMIET as the test-beds of our emotional interface. We researched on the emotional interaction between a service robot and a user by integrating the developed technologies. Emotional interface technology for the service robot, enhance the performance of friendly interaction to the service robot, to increase the diversity of the service and the value-added of the robot for human. and it elevates the market growth and also contribute to the popularization of the robot. The emotional interface technology can enhance the performance of friendly interaction of the service robot.   • This paper presents an EMG-based wireless and wearable computer interface. The wearable device contains 4 channel EMG sensors and is able to acquire EMG signals using signal processing. Obtained signals are transmitted to a host computer through wireless communication. EMG signals induced by the volitional movements are acquired from four sites in the lower limb to extract a user's intention and six classes of wrist movements are discriminated by employing an artificial neural network (ANN). This interface could provide an aid to the limb disabled to directly access to computers and network environments without conventional computer interface such as a keyboard and a mouse.

Gaze Detection by Wearable Eye-Tracking and NIR LED-Based Head-Tracking Device Based on SVR

  • In this paper, a gaze estimation method is proposed for use with a large-sized display at a distance. Our research has the following four novelties: this is the first study on gaze-tracking for large-sized displays and large Z (viewing) distances; our gaze-tracking accuracy is not affected by head movements since the proposed method tracks the head by using a near infrared camera and an infrared light-emitting diode; the threshold for local binarization of the pupil area is adaptively determined by using a p-tile method based on circular edge detection irrespective of the eyelid or eyelash shadows; and accurate gaze position is calculated by using two support vector regressions without complicated calibrations for the camera, display, and user's eyes, in which the gaze positions and head movements are used as feature values. The root mean square error of gaze detection is calculated as $0.79^{\circ}$ for a 30-inch screen.

  • In this paper, a mobile robot capable of remote control is designed in consideration of the user's various work environments. Specifically, a mobile remote work robot that moves in a predetermined direction and can perform a series of tasks in synchronization with the user's hand movements, and a control system and control method for controlling the robot were proposed. It was implemented using a robot hand and a wheel for movement to assist in tasks such as transporting dangerous goods or heavy goods. In order to evaluate the performance of the developed robot, the maximum weight that can be carried by the robot hand and the movable inclination of the robot were tested, and the test evaluation results satisfied most of the targeted design specifications.

  • Recently the use of personal mobility devices is rapidly increasing, and the businesses related to personal mobility devices are quickly growing as well. Although the use of personal mobility devices provides convenience for short distance movements, many problems occur due to the lack of safety devices and the absence of associated road traffic laws. The number of accidents caused by using personal mobility devices continues increasing every year, and the injuries or deaths are seriously happening with those accidents. When using personal mobility devices, there are basic safety precautions such as wearing a helmet, prohibiting boarding with more than two people, prohibiting boarding with more than 100kg, prohibiting using after drinking alcohol, and so on. However, it is exposed to traffic accidents because there is no way to check before using the system. Therefore, to ensure the user's safety in using the electric kickboard among personal mobility devices, this paper proposes a system that can check the user's safety state before using the electric kickboard. It is possible to safely use personal mobility devices and prevent accidents by proposing a system structure of the electric kickboard that can be used after checking for the use of more than two people, overweight, wearing a helmet, and drinking alcohol.

  • In current video-conferencing systems. user's face movements are restricted by fixed camera, therefore it is inconvenient to users. To solve this problem, tracking of face movements is needed. Tracking using whole face needs much computing time and whole face is difficult to define as an one feature. Thus, using several feature points in face is more desirable to track face movements efficiently. This paper addresses an effective eye location algorithm which is essential process of automatic human face tracking system for natural video-conferencing. The location of eye is very important information for face tracking, as eye has most clear and simplest attribute in face. The proposed algorithm is applied to candidate face regions from the face region extraction. It is not sensitive to lighting conditions and has no restriction on face size and face with glasses. The proposed algorithm shows very encouraging results from experiments on video-conferencing environments.

  • In the IT industry, processing units of IT applications are getting smaller and high efficient. Furthermore, the realization of various smart functions is highly feasible now due to advances in sensing technology. The service infrastructures on high efficient and compact mobile devices are applied to various areas. These also could be possessed by users and is built into the devices. Currently, studies on the UX(User Experience) field to attempt an analysis and prediction of user's information are continuing with reference to the UI(User Interface). However, research on the common framework of classification and storing the user-information, and standardization of form has not been attempted yet. In this study, we proposed the AUX(Associative user Experience) model and process structure to store various empirical data by users. The AUX model expressed a diversity of user's empirical data using extended E-TCPN model. And also, we expressed the data structure using XML with reference to the application of AUX model. This expressed model and separation of process structure guarantee its specialty, productivity and flexibility through the humanistic characteristics of users and the independence of technical process structure. The AUX model maps out the AUX information process architecture and expressed the process with the improved MPP algorithm, to analyze of its performance. The simulation of movements applying to MPP traffic allocation of VOD is used to analyze of its performance. The playback deviation of MPP Graphic Allocation Algorism where the AUX model was applied was improved by 10.41% more than the one where it was not applied. As a result of that, playback performance has improved due to the conversion of AUX with accessing media, content of users and dynamic traffic allocation such as MPI and CPI.

  • The human-computer interaction technology (HCI) that has played an important role in the exchange of information between human being and computer belongs to a key field for information technology. Recently, control studies through which robots and control devices are controlled by using the movements of a person's body or hands without using conventional input devices such as keyboard and mouse, have been going only in diverse aspects, and their importance has been steadily increasing. This study is proposing a recognition method of user's gestures by applying measurements from an acceleration sensor to the PCA algorithm.

  • Contrary to ubiquitous environments, indoor computing environments like home network doesn't support user mobility. This paper suggests UPnP A/V multimedia system using prediction of mobility for adaption of seamless multimedia service. The multimedia system enables indoor mobile users to play multimedia contents by transferring the current session to an adjacent device automatically. The system represents users' contextual information by Five Ws and One H model, and predicts user's movements by using contextual information and transitions of locations. The prediction basically includes multiple locations so that it improves accuracy of prediction. We evaluated the suggested system using in accuracy of prediction, time for prediction, handover time for service, and the system showed that adapt ion of seamless multimedia service was enabled by using prediction of mobility on mobile user.
