Karmakar suggested two methods to transform the general linear programming into his specially structured linear programming problem. We show that there are bad cases that cause difficulties in the use of Karmakar's methods. We also develop a new transformation method which can handle those difficulties.
With the advent of computers, CAD systems are widely used for various design practice. Complexity of CAD systems and difficulty of exchanging data among different CAD systems, however, do not allow efficient use as desired. In addition, to follow variety of designers' need, CAD activities should be customized. This article proposed a methodology fer developing an intelligent CAD system and the sate-of-the-art technologies described fur customizing CAD systems using API (Application Programming Interface). A basic platform is proposed and a useful application system is implemented to enable a parametric design by directly inputting numerical values on a CAD model. Based on this application, we developed a system that makes it possible to share part family data between SolidEdge and Pro/Engineer. The proposed concept on intelligent CAD systems facilitates integration of external systems such as CAE tools and promotes the use of CAD for both engineering designers and analysts.
Many taxis called "Mobum" in Seoul are empty and waiting along the curb during the day time. However, it is almost impossible for elderly and handicapped people, and women carrying babies to use them .It is because they can not serve passengers who request services by phone. If taxis, expecially "Mobum" taxis which offer high quality services, can be dispatched based on requests by phone, not only elderly and handicapped people but also auto commuters will easily call and use them. This paper shows a taxi dispatching system. The system minimizes the total empty vehicle hours under given number of empty vehicles and passengers and their locations. As a result, the system maximizes number of services and revenue under given number of taxis. The system adopts a well -known linear programming model and the model can fast and easily be solved by PC level linear programming packages. Also, practical solutions of the system's constraints such as size and travel time forecast are discussed.ecast are discussed.
A fast pattern classification algorithm with Cellular Nonlinear Network-based dynamic programming is proposed. The Cellular Nonlinear Networks is an analog parallel processing architecture and the dynamic programing is an efficient computation algorithm for optimization problem. Combining merits of these two technologies, fast pattern classification with optimization is formed. On such CNN-based dynamic programming, if exemplars and test patterns are presented as the goals and the start positions, respectively, the optimal paths from test patterns to their closest exemplars are found. Such paths are utilized as aggregating keys for the classification. The algorithm is similar to the conventional neural network-based method in the use of the exemplar patterns but quite different in the use of the most likely path finding of the dynamic programming. The pattern classification is performed well regardless of degree of the nonlinearity in class borders.
Minecraft game is a sandboxed game based on a high degree of users' freedom; the game encourages its users to recreate various play patterns to increase their immersion. Although recently there were many studies that use Minecraft game techniques to improve the teaching methods but still not well adapted due to being applications-based techniques. In this paper, we present a teaching model that utilizes the same concept of the Minecraft games in where learners customize the class concepts based on their needs. Moreover, Minecraft-based learning games attempt to be used for learner-led, creativity and programming instruction, to overcome these use-cases limitations, by our study we aim to include the Minecraft-based learning games in class teaching activities, theoretical and practical lessons. In this way, we intend to increase interest in programming lessons, and to increase immersion as another way of game learning. In the future, we attempt to measure various effects of the uses of Minecraft-game-based teaching in programming classes compare to the traditionally used methods.

Robots for construction sites, although not deeply widespread, are finding applications in the duties of project monitoring, material movement, documentation, security, and simple repetitive construction-related tasks. A significant shortcoming in the use of robots is the complexity involved in programming and re-programming an automation routine. Robotic programming is not an expected skill set of the traditional construction industry professional. Therefore, this research seeks to deliver a low-cost approach toward re-programming that does not involve a programmer's skill set. The researchers in this study examined an approach toward programming a terrestrial-based drone so that it follows a taped path. By doing so, if an alternative path is required, programmers would not be needed to re-program any part of the automated routine. Changing the path of the drone simply requires removing the tape and placing a different path - ideally simplifying the process and quickly allowing practitioners to implement a new automated routine. Python programming scripts were used with a DJI Robomaster EP Core drone, and a terrain navigation assessment was conducted. The study examined the pass/fail rates for a series of trial run over different terrains. The analysis of this data along with video recording for each trial run allowed the researchers to conclude that the accuracy of the tape follow technique was predictable on each of the terrain surfaces. The accuracy and predictability inform a non-coding construction practitioner of the optimal placement of the taped path. This paper further presents limitations and suggestions for some possible extended research options for this study.
