Design of Smart Service based on Reverse-proxy for the Internet of Things (리버스 프록시 기반 IoT 서비스 도메인 설계)

  • The IoT (Internet of Things) is considered as a core technology to realize interconnected world. At this, companies composing ICT industry and standard organizations make efforts to accelerate it. IETF CoRE(Constrained RESTful Environment) working group standardized CoAP (Constrained Application Protocol) for the constrained device. CoAP has RESTful architecture and CoAP option is provided to use forward-proxy. The forward-proxy is used to translate protocol and perform requests on behalf of the client. However, communication between Internet based client and LLN(Low-power and Lossy Network) based CoAP server architecture has limitations to deploy real IoT service. In this architecture, problems like response delay, URI assignment and DoS attack can be occurred. To solve these problems, we propose the reverse-proxy based system. We consider both of static IoT and mobility IoT environments. Finally, our proposed system is expected to provide efficient IoT service.

IoT service and Research for Field of medicine application (IoT 서비스와 의료분야 적용에 관한 연구)

  • Recently, IoT technologies attract much attenction in medical area. Previous medical IoT had focused mainly on chronological diseases or fitness for particular users. Contrarily, medical use of the IoT technologies is now extended for medical institutes and hospitals to care intensively in-house patients, which requires typically more strict and reliable data delivery and security, authentication and authorization. This study defines scenario of the medical IoT for the intensive care and proposes an architecture of the medical IoT services. We implement a testbed using commerical sensors and Arduino board together with a Web-based platform. Experiment results on the testbed show that our approach can be feasible for the medical system in terms of latency and accuracy in medical data delivery.

A Study on the Successful Adoption of IoT Services : Focused on iBeacon and Nearby (IoT 서비스의 성공적 수용에 관한 연구 : iBeacon과 Nearby를 중심으로)

  • The purpose of this study is to propose the effective location-based IoT service acceptance model by integrating ELM (Elaboration Likelihood Model) with UTAUT (Unified Theory of Acceptance and Use of Technology). The Partial Least Squares was used to analyze the causal relationships with respect to the effects of central route and peripheral route on acceptance intention. The results shows that central route has more significant impacts on perceived usefulness than peripheral route and CFIP (Concern for Information Privacy) weaken the relationship of acceptance intention and perceived usefulness. Our findings indicate some meaningful implications in the acceptance research of IOT services. First, we noted that the easy of use significantly affects the adoption of location-based IoT service. Furthermore, it is important to build the secured mechanism of privacy protection to adopt of location-based IoT service. Second, we tried to attempt the newly integrated approach to technical acceptance using UTAUT's variables and ELM by Petty and Cacioppo (1986). Finally this research empirically analyzed the adoption case of location-based IoT service which is not well-known yet within our country.

  • The Internet of Things (IoT) is an Infrastructure which allows to connect with each device in physical world through the Internet. Thus IoT enables to provide meahup services or intelligent services to human user using collected data from those devices. Due to these advantages, IoT is used in divers service domains such as traffic, distribution, healthcare, and smart city. However, current IoT provides restricted services because it only supports monitor and control devices according to collected data from the devices. To resolve this problem, we propose a design and implementation of personalized IoT service base on service orchestration. The proposed service allows to discover specific services and then to combine the services according to a user location. To this end, we develop a service ontology to interpret user information according to meanings and smartphone web app to use the IoT service by human user. We also develop a service platform to work with external IoT platform. Finally, to show feasibility, we evaluate the proposed system via study.

  • Due to the development of ICT technology, the IoT environment for connecting objects in the vicinity to networks and utilizing information about objects in various fields is getting attention, and security threats are also increasing. In order to solve the increasing security problem in IoT environment, we are studying methods that use certificate, encryption, hash calculation and block chain in the private sector. However, the security authentication method which overcomes the performance gap between devices and has compatibility with various devices It has not been proposed yet. In this paper, we propose an authentication method that can achieve wide compatibility by minimizing the influence of IoT device environment.

  • Internet of Things (IoT) is proliferating to provide more intelligent services by interconnecting various Internet devices, and TCP based MQTT is being used as a standard communication protocol of the IoT. Although it is recommended to use TLS/SSL security protocol for TCP with MQTT-based IoT devices, encryption and decryption performance degenerates when applied to low-specification / low-capacity IoT devices. In this paper, we propose an end-to-end message security protocol using elliptic curve cryptosystem, a lightweight encryption algorithm, which improves performance on both sides of the client and server, based on the simulation of TLS/SSL and the proposed protocol.

A Study on the Structure of Research Domain for Internet of Things Based on Keyword Analysis (키워드 분석 기반 사물인터넷 연구 도메인 구조 분석)

  • Internet of Things (IoT) is considered to be the next wave of Information Technology transformation after the Internet has changed the process of doing business. Since the domain of IoT ranging from the sensor technology to service to the users is wide, the structure of the research domain is not delineated clearly. To do that we suggest to use the Technology Stack Model proposed by Porter et al.(2014) to measure the maturity level of IoT in organizations. Based on the Stack Model, for the general understandings of IoT, we do keyword analyses on the academic papers whose major research issue is IoT. It is found that the current status of IoT application from the perspectives of cloud and big data analytics is not active, meaning that the real value of IoT has not been realized. We also examine the cases which deal with the part of cloud process which is crucial for value accrual. Based on these findings, we suggest the future direction of IoT research. We also propose that IT is to value chain what IoT is to the Stack Model to derive value in organizations.

  • Standard Protocol Optimized for Resource-Constrained IoT Environment Constrained Application Protocol (CoAP) supports web-based communication between a sensor node in the IoT environment and a client on the Internet. The CoAP is a Request / Response model that responds to the client's CoAP Request message by responding with a CoAP Response message from the server. CoAP recommends the use of CoAP-DTLS for message protection. However, validation of the use of DTLS in the IoT environment is underway. We analyze CoAP and DTLS security mode, evaluate performance of secure channel creation time, security channel creation step time, and RAM / ROM consumption through Cooja simulator and evaluate the possibility of real environment application.

Intrusion Detection on IoT Services using Event Network Correlation (이벤트 네트워크 상관분석을 이용한 IoT 서비스에서의 침입탐지)

  • As the number of internet-connected appliances and the variety of IoT services are rapidly increasing, it is hard to protect IT assets with traditional network security techniques. Most traditional network log analysis systems use rule based mechanisms to reduce the raw logs. But using predefined rules can't detect new attack patterns. So, there is a need for a mechanism to reduce congested raw logs and detect new attack patterns. This paper suggests enterprise security management for IoT services using graph and network measures. We model an event network based on a graph of interconnected logs between network devices and IoT gateways. And we suggest a network clustering algorithm that estimates the attack probability of log clusters and detects new attack patterns.

IoT device management system using repeater (리피터를 이용한 IoT기기 관리시스템)

  • Conventional IoT systems are centralized systems that process information from the server on the device and most of them use a wireless LAN network. However, There may arise a problem of when the signal of the wireless LAN network is not reached, the IoT product can not be used and accessing a wireless LAN network having a stronger signal. In order to solve this problem, this paper proposes a system that a method to maintain stability of IoT products by using repeaters, and to manage IoT products and reduces the burden on the server by processing part of the data processed by the server in the repeater. The problems caused by the signal of the wireless LAN network can be solved by amplifying the signal with the repeater, and the overloading problem that can occur in the server can be solved by controlling the repeater's IoT product connected thereto to reduce the server usage.
