A Study of the Factors Influencing Adoption of Mobile VoIP: Applying the UTAUT Model (모바일 VoIP 수용에 영향을 미치는 요인 연구 : UTAUT 모형을 중심으로)

  • The progress of Information Technology enables people can communicate each others using the Internet. As a smartphone proliferates, many free mobile VoIP(Voice over IP) application are developed and accepted by smartphone users. In this study we investigate the factors affecting the acceptance of mobile VoIP applications and the structural relationship among these factors. We review the related works and extract the related factors and build a research model describing the causal relationship among these factors. We conduct an empirical study - a survey and statistical analysis - to verify the research model. EFA(Exploratory Factor Analysis) is applied for variables in the survey and SEM(Structural Equation Model) is used to reveal the structural relationship among the factors. We can find that two factors - usefulness of mobile VoIP and social influence - positively affect usage intention and actual use. These findings imply that it is required to emphasize the benefits of mobile VoIP use and add S/W functionalities enhancing social influence.

  • Conventional studies on technology acceptance have focused on information technology for utilitarian value and hence based on 'theory of reasoned action'. Correspondingly, the studies depend on perceived usefulness and perceived ease of use as rational decision making elements. However, in ubiquitous society, innovative technologies are applied to non-task area, as well as task-oriented area. Therefore, users are more influenced by affective factors than cognitive factors in causing their usage intention. In line with those discussions, we cannot make sure that the conventional technology acceptance model could fully explain the current u-service acceptance phenomenon. Hence, to overcome the limitations of the prior technology acceptance studies, we propose an amended TAM which includes one hedonic factor and two factors on ubiquitous computing technology : ubiquity and intelligence.

  • The numbers of SNS (Social Network Service) users and usage amounts are increasing every year. The influence of SNS is increasing also. SNS has a wide range of influences from daily decision-making to corporate management activities. Therefore, proper analysis of SNS can be a very meaningful work, and many studies are making a lot of effort to look into various activities and relationships in SNS. In this study, we analyze the SNS following relationships using Twitter, one of the representative SNS services. In other words, unlike the existing SNS analysis, our intention is to analyze the interests of the accounts by extracting and visualizing the accounts that two accounts follow in common. For this, a common following account was extracted using Microsoft Excel macros, and the relationship between the extracted accounts was defined using an adjacency matrix. In addition, to facilitate the analysis of the following relationships, a direction graph was used for visualization, and R programming was used for such visualization.

Utilization and Application to Increase Egg Dishes in Communal Food Service in Accordance to Dietician's Awareness (단체급식 영양사의 계란 요리에 대한 인식도에 따른 이용실태와 활용증대 방안)

  • Purpose: This study aims to provide important methods to increase egg usage eggs in communal food services, based on the knowledge and awareness of the dietician. Methods: A survey on 200 dieticians in various aspects, such as egg purchase, utility, importance of egg dishes and allergy awareness was conducted. Result: Dieticians' highest consideration in purchasing eggs were cost (41.5%) and food safety certification (41.0%); the 88.6% of purchases were general egg. The most inconvenient issues in the purchase were inability to confirm freshness (42.0%), frequent breakage (23.5%) and inconvenience in shell disposal (18.5%). During the process of cooking, cracking egg shells (49.5%) and disposal of shells (14.0%) were marked as the major inconveniences. When questioned on intention to purchase liquid and powder eggs to overcome the shell disposal inconvenience, 64% answered no, with distrust in food safety (44.5%) being the major concern. The frequency of using eggs as the main ingredient was 1~2 times per week, with 49.0%. Food service customers favored rolled omelet (36.7%) and steamed egg (20.6%), and the most used utensil was the frying pan (56.5%). When important factors in egg dishes, namely diverse menu, taste, nutrition, consumer satisfaction and allergic reaction were surveyed, most answered that all 5 factors were important. Conclusion: For increasing egg dish inclusions in communal food service, the safety assurance, increase in liquid and processed egg use, and supply of cooking utilities are necessary.

  • In this paper, we analyze a user's usage behavior, identify and track search intention and interest field based on the National Science and Technology Standard Classification, and use it to personalize science and technology information. In other words, we sought to satisfy both efficiency and satisfaction in searching for information that users want by improving scientific information search performance. We developed the personalization service of science and technology information and evaluated the suitability and usefulness of personalized information by comparing the search performance between expert experimental group and control group. As a result, the personalization service proposed in this study showed better search performance than comparative service and proved to provide higher usability.

Acceptance Measure of Quality Improvement Information System among Long-term Care Workers: A Psychometric Assessment (장기요양인력의 질 향상 정보시스템 수용 측정도구: 신뢰타당도 평가)

  • Purpose: We evaluated the psychometric properties of a questionnaire on the acceptance of the quality improvement information system (QIIS) among long-term care workers (mostly nurses). Methods: The questionnaire composes of 21 preliminary questions with 5 domains based on the Technology Acceptance Model and related literature reviews. We developed a prototype web-based comprehensive resident assessment system, and collected data from 126 subjects at 75 long-term care facilities and hospitals, who used the system and responded to the questionnaire. A priori factor structure was developed using an exploratory factor analysis and validated by a confirmatory factor analysis; its reliability was also evaluated. Results: A total of 16 items were yielded, and 5 factors were extracted from the explanatory factor analysis: Usage Intention, Perceived Usefulness, Perceived Ease of Use, Social Influence, and Innovative Characteristics. The five-factor structure model had a good fit (Tucker-Lewis index [TLI]=.976; comparative fit index [CFI]=.969; standardized root mean squared residual [SRMR]=.052; root mean square error of approximation [RMSEA]=.048), and the items were internally consistent(Cronbach's ${\alpha}=.91$). Conclusion: The questionnaire was valid and reliable to measure the technology acceptance of QIIS among long-term care workers, using the prototype.

  • The purpose of this paper is to develop a comprehensive research model that can explain potential customers' intentions to adopt and use VPA(Virtual Personal Assistants) devices. This study proposes and validates a new theoretical model that extends the perceived value theory. Partial least squares analysis is employed to test the research model and corresponding hypotheses on data collected from 313 survey samples. Perceived value, perceived usefulness, perceived enjoyment are important factors affecting the adoption of VPA devices. To increase potential users' intention to use, VPA device manufacturers should not only focus on developing utilitarian functions but also fun features based on open development echo-system. This study is the important empirical attempt to examine user acceptance of VPA devices, as most of the prior literature has concerned analysis of usage patterns or technical features.

  • Computer performance and the development of computer appliances of today have adopted a new shape of concept, "ubiquitous computing." Thus, users can readily obtain access to abundant information as they can utilize the wireless network taking advantage of the ubiquitous concept, which allows usage inhibited by neither time nor location. In this process, the supply and feedback of information tends to be made real in the form of "interactive agent". This interactive agent with the application of artificial intelligence can enhance the reliability of information using friendly characters, and is used as a tool to grasp the intention! and behavior patterns of the users. This paper will take a look at the concept and the definition of the intelligent agent with "added characteristic", and furthermore investigate the potential and the scope of its development analyzing its features and comparing the examples of the domestic market that pursues to generate profits with it.

  • The court has the responsibility to determine the final interpretation of the law. The court hands down final decisions on personal disputes and conflicts between individuals and the state. Legal commentaries will stay true to their intention of providing diverse legal theories and enabling a unified legal interpretation only when law practitioners are allowed to discuss in depth laws, cases, and legal theories within the boundaries set by commentary authors. If law practitioners include the latest laws, cases, and legal theories as well as their opinions to existing commentaries in their judicial roles and legal studies, they will be able to obtain a unified legal interpretation without referring to other legal literature.

  • Information is very important for modern consumers, and the factors that have a great influence on product purchasing. Accordingly, elucidating factors affecting the retrieval process of information is an important. This study identifies factors that affect tourism information retrieval activities. First, it was carried out the meta analysis of tourism information, repurchase intention, attitude toward technology, and information utilization. Through the meta analysis, hypothesis model about each factor of information retrieval and repurchase of tourism products was suggested. The hypothesis model was verified by a survey of Korean and Japanese tourists. As a result, it is confirmed the relationship between the above factors. The results of this study are expected to contribute to the development of a tourists' information usage model in the future.
