  • This paper proposes an accelerated life evaluation of drive shaft for the power train parts of special purpose vehicle. It is necessary the real load data of usage level driving load condition for life evaluation of power train parts, but we can't get the load spectrum data for evaluation in many case of special purpose vehicle. So, in this paper, the road load spectrum data for evaluation is created by modeling and simulation based on vehicle data and special road condition. The inverse power model is used for accelerated life test. The equivalent torque of load spectrum is achieved using the Miner's Rule. This paper also proposes the calibrated acceleration life test method for drive shaft. The fatigue test is performed through three stress levels. The lifetime at normal stress level is predicted by extrapolation, and is verified through comparison of experimental results and load spectrum data.

  • The usage of nondestructive testing on early-aged concrete leads to enhacned safty and allows effective scheduling of construction, thus making it possible to maximize the time and cost efficiencies. In this study, a reliable nondestructive strength evaluation method for early-aged concrete using the longitudinal wave velocity is proposed. Compression tests were performed to examine factors influencing the velocity-strength relationship of concrete, such as water-cement (w/c) ratio, fine aggregate ratio, curing temperature, and curing condition. The test results show that a change in the w/c ratio and curing temperature has minor effect on the velocity-strength relationship/ However, curing condition significantly influences the velocity-strength relationship of early-aged concrete. Moreover, the longitudinal wave velocity increases with decreasing fine aggregate ratio. It is concluded from this study that the strength evaluation of early-age concrete can be achieved by a nonlinear equation which considers the effects of curing condition and fine aggregate ratio.

  • In the case of the geosynthetics usage to soil structure, there are some damages by compaction. And these damages by the installation compaction result in the unexpected changes of short and long term properties of the structure. So in the case of index test, there are some problems to the exact evaluation on the installation damage. Therefore, to the more definite evaluation on the installation damage of geosynthetics, the real site installation damage test is encouraged. (omitted)

  • CNG buses were introduced in 2002 to reduce air pollution to the big cities. The durability and safety evaluation were performed for the NGV-2 type cylinders taken from two buses after 30 months of running. No external damage and no internal corrosion was observed on the container surfaces. Defect exceeding the allowable limit was not found in the UT test. Permanent volume expansion was about 1.2% which is much smaller than the required design limit. Cycling test showed no failure after 11,250cycles and burst pressures were still above the maximum design pressure. Both the longitudinal and circumferential failure mode were observed, where both the fracture strengths were far above the design limit. This study showed the present CNG fuel cylinders were safe enough for further usage.

  • This study comprehensively analyzes previous research comparing the similarities between 3D virtual and actual fittings, and identifies the current usage and limitations of virtual fitting programs. The findings reveal that, in most cases, 3D virtual fittings are not perfect substitutes for actual fittings. To address these limitations, this research focuses on the Hohenstein fitting test and BP-ANNs-based garment fit evaluation method, which incorporate various parameters, such as the correlation between wearers and garments, garment pressure, and ease, thus providing objective data, such as data acquired that can enhance subjective evaluations. By integrating such objective assessments, the study suggests potential improvements in virtual fitting accuracy. This research is expected to provide foundational data necessary for the development of a consumer virtual fitting systems alongside advancements in 3D virtual fitting technology.

  • As the percentage of permeable ground is reduced due to the increased impermeable roads of major cities, a heat island phenomenon can be dominantly observed, resulting in increased temperature. In addition, rainfall that would have been naturally absorbed and retained by the permeable ground is overflowed due to large volumes of run-off water, resulting in more sewer failures and increased erosion. In terms of permeable pavement system, block paving has been used anywhere as well as provides many years of service. The permeable block paving is an effective alternative to the more traditional asphalt or plain concrete for minor roads; furthermore, it looks a lot better than other pavements. In this study, the functional drainage evaluation of block paving was carried out, considering the usage of experimental sludge and wheel tracking test, in order to simulate the field condition of roads.

  • The purposes of this study are to confirm the applicability of the unobtrusive evaluation to Korean libraries, to develop survey forms, check lists and evaluation criteria appropriate for Korean libraries, to analyze the relationship between the test variables and the performance level, to find out the causes of poor service if any, and to propose measures for improving the quality of reference services. The main results of the analyses are as follows : $\cdot$ The accuracy of answers was correlated to appropriateness of search process, way of providing answer, usage of language, approachability and use of second materials in the order named. That is, there was a strong correlation between accuracy and the variables related to librarian's behavior. $\cdot$ There was no statistically significant relationship between accuracy and the environmental aspects of reference department such as number of professional librarians, self-evaluation of reference collection, etc. $\cdot$ The main reasons for failing to give accurate answers were found to be weaknesses in understanding questions. developing search strategy logically and relating the querries to available information sources.

  • Internet application for education has drawn interests in recent time. Usually the method of communication was unidirectional, which means teachers posted educational material on a server and students received them. Even the usage of WWW can't overcome the restriction of unidirectional communication problem. In order to solve this problem, researchers and commercial vendors began to provide packages for bidirectional solution. Those packages are course test generation and evaluation packages using Internet. They provide functionalities of problem generation and score management. In this paper some of those packages are reviewed, and the functionalities of JPGEM (Java Problem Generation and Evaluation Module), which is developed by the author of this paper, are discussed in detail.

  • To assure safe usage of railway rolling stock, it is important to evaluate the strength of the wheel which is core part in bogies. However, conventional standard testing methods using destructive technique could not evaluate mechanical properties of degraded wheels during rolling stock maintenance work. Instrumented indentation test is a new way to evaluate nondestructively the strength of mechanical components by analyzing indentation load-depth curves. In this study, to evaluate tensile strength of the wheel, instrumented indentation test is performed nondestructively according to KS B 0950. Furthermore, test results are examined by tensile test in accordance with KS R 9221.

  • This research was carried out to evaluate the possible usage of natural clay materials collected from the Kimpo landfill site and nearby clay mines as a clay liner material. In order to evaluate the possible usage as a clay liner material, specific gravity, pH, loss-on-ignition, organic carbon content and mineralogical composition of clay materials were measured. The Atterberg limit test and the size analysis were performed for the engineering classification and the prediction of hydraulic conductivity of clay materials. Caution exchange capacity and batch tests were also carried out for the assessment of attenuation capacity. Clay specimens of KPNCL, KP-1, KP-2 and SH were recommended as suitable clay linder materials from viewpoint of their basic quality and attenuation capacity.
