도시형자기부상열차 개발현황 (Development of Urban Transit Maglev in Korea)

  • KIMM(Korea Institute of Machinery and Materials ) and ROTEM have been leading development of the low to medium speed urban transit maglev for the past 20 years. The result of this long term national project is UTM-01 ( Urban Transit Maglev -01 ) in 1998 and UTM-02 in 2006 and the 6.1 km long double track maglev commercialization project in Inchon international airport from 2006 to 2012. In this paper the status of the maglev development for the past 20 years is reported. Design changes in key technologies - maglev bogies, secondary suspension system, levitation system, propulsion system, major power suppling equipments from UTM-01 system to that of commercialization project - are described.

  • In this paper deals with running test for the UTM(Urban Transit Maglev)-01, that is test and evaluation for the maglev. We will predict about the test value for running maglev vhicle. In this time we tested rms gap fluctuation and peak to peak air gap for levitation system of UTM-01. And then we profit for the upgrade Maglev System.

  • Test Results and Status of development of the urban transit maglev system(UTM-O1) are reported. Maglev Project Team in KIMM, in cooperation with Hyundai Precision Company and the Korea Electrotechnology Research Institute(KERI), has successfully finished the second stage development project (1995. 5-1998. 8) and demonstrated a prototype two vehicle consisted urban maglev train operating in the speed range of 50km/h. In this paper, we report various test results of the UTM-01 system, present status of quo and future prospect, and what have been done so far to improve the performance of the maglev system overall.

  • This paper deals with propulsion system for the UTM-01(Urban Transit Maglev). We experiment about the LIM and the inverter at 4 running test maglev vehicle. It is measured voltage, current, power factor for inverter output. And we discussed about efficiency of the LIM about maglev system.

  • Making practical use of urban MAGLEV system which is tried by government includes technique development and railway construction. Because huge amount of money will be spent on this project, feasibility study is being carried out in order to check the feasibility and to devise the master plan in prior to making practical use of urban MAGLEV system. The key issues of feasibility study are possibility of technique development, economical feasibility, location of a model railway and the improvement of related laws and regulations. This paper shows the approach to solve these key issues.

  • This paper presented a literature review and investigation analysis results of total 19 present guide book and provisions of maintenance and management system in existing railway bridges to development of urban maglev track structures inspection manual. This research carried out a cooperated research subject 3-1, development a design code and maintenance and management inspection manual for urban maglev track structures, of the Center for Urban Maglev Program. Three types of track structures were includes as a major analytical parameter together with railroad, high speed railroad, subway and light rail transit. Bridges were analyzed a general rules, investigation, evaluation, repair and strengthen method as a key aspect. And rail were analyzed examination and maintenance also. This analysis results show that the track structures evaluation are based on the test and examination results, and repaired or strengthened consideration of deterioration, track irregularity and materials according to provision requirements.

  • Maglev is a non-contact traffic system in which cars are supported by magnetic force instead of wheels. This is a ground-breaking traffic system providing superior environmental friendliness and cost efficiency due to the minimal noise and vibration offered by its non-contacting nature. We study the present specification and performance of the low speed urban maglev system in Korea and other countries. After set up the test line, to success the "Commercialization of Korean Urban Maglev System" project, we establish proper requirement of maglev system in Korean environment on base of "Daejeon National Science Museum Maglev Establish Project".

  • This paper gives an overview and developing status of the on-board Automatic Train Control (ATC) System employed to control the Urban Maglev vehicle in Korea. In the construction of demonstration line for Urban Maglev Program, the Daewoo Engineering Company (DEC) has participated as a supplier of the whole ATC System since 2009. According to the contract with Korea Rail Network Authority, DEC is under progress for the development of the whole ATC system including Safety Integration Level (SIL) assessment from the ISA, which is followed by the international standards IEC62278, IEC62279, and EN50129. Once the Urban Maglev Program is completed successfully in 2013, the developed system will be the first localized whole ATC system which has SIL assessment and commercial operation experience in Korea.

  • In 2013, Korea will become the world's second country to operate the urban Maglev system with the inauguration of demonstration line at Incheon International Airport. A prototype Maglev is under the test at KIMM's(Korea Institute of Machinery & Materials, Daejeon) track. This Maglev is an EMS(Electromagnetic suspension)-type vehicle of controlled $8{\pm}3mm$ air gap. The air gap between electromagnet and the guiderail in an EMS-type Maglev must be maintained within an allowable deviation by controlling the magnet. The air gap response is strongly dependent on the structural characteristics of the elevated guideway. For this reason, the interaction between the vehicle with electromagnets and the elevated guideway must be understood to ensure safe running. The purpose of this paper is to compare vibration characteristics of the vehicle on the switching system and other sections when the full weight condition of urban maglev vehicle that 26.5 tons per car(empty car weight 19 tons + passenger condition 7.5 tons), is applied. Through such results, Maglev vehicles and switching system can be established and the levitation stability can be improved.
