  • Remote sensing data is collected and analyzed to enhance understanding of the terrestrial surface. Since Landsat satellite was launched in 1972, many researches using multispectral data has been achieved. Recently, with the availability of airborne and satellite hyperspectral data, the study on hyperspectral data are being increased. It is known that as the number of spectral bands of high-spectral resolution data increases, the ability to detect more detailed cases should also increase, and the classification accuracy should increase as well. In this paper, we classified the hyperspectral and multispectral data and tested the classification accuracy. The MASTER(MODIS/ASTER Airborne Simulator, 50channels, 0.4~13$\mu$m) and Landsat TM(7channels) imagery including Yeong-Gwang area were used and we adjusted the classification items in several cases and tested their classification accuracy through statistical comparison. As a result of this study, it is shown that hyperspectral data offer more information than multispectral data.

  • The purpose of the present study is to confirm, through quantitative indices, changes arising with the implementation of urban regeneration projects, with a specific focus on the case of Dongnam-gu, Cheonan, one of the 13 priority rgions in urban regeneration. By utilizing quantitative data including resident population, floating population, revenue, number of small business persons, number of startup companies, and number of licensed buildings, the study confirmed changes in Dongnam-gu and other urban regeneration areas. The study compared monitoring results and implemented project policies to confirm changes within the area as a result of project implementation. Additionally, resident perception toward business districts was surveyed to confirm changes in perception and opinion, and monitoring indices were used to confirm changes as a result of project implementation. Accordingly, the study presented a plan to carry out the assessment of urban regeneration projects, which can be employed as data for conducting future urban regeneration projects. Urban regeneration projects are carried out for the long-term. Therefore, based on monitoring and investigative data, they require constant policy suggestions and periodic monitoring in accordance with changes resulting from project implementation. With regards to the effective range of urban regeneration projects, the study confirmed the possibility of an effect not only in the area of project implementation but also in surrounding areas. However, because the study merely confirms changes in Dongnam-gu, Cheonan, additional research is necessary to ascertain assessment plans suitable to the different types and regional characteristics of urban regeneration projects.

  • In the Urban Regeneration Project, the scale becomes huge and the composition of participating organizations is complex. It is necessary to establish the master plan fast and effectively harmonize conflict options and interests in the early stage of the project. However, the master planner, who is tasked to establish the master plan, and the master planning team, are difficult to establish the master plan fast while effectively considering various and complex information related to regeneration. The Urban Regeneration Project is composed of various types of computer files like HWP, EXL, PDF, DWG and others. When the master plan is established, it is necessary to link the information items and physical files of urban generation in order to effectively save the files in storage for easy search and utilization. This study developed a prototype system to support participating subjects of the Urban Regeneration Projects. It will effectively utilize the information items in the physical computer files using information blocks and Metadata. The developed system provides the base to effectively manage large amount of documents in the early stage of the Urban Regeneration Project and make effective decision-making using the concept of data warehouse.

  • This paper describes some results of change detection in Tokyo metropolitan area, Japan , using the Landsat TM data, and methods to quantify the ground cover classes. The changes are analyzed using the measures of not only conventional spectral classes but also a set of landscape indices to describe spatial properties of ground cove types using fractal dimension of objects, entropy in the specific windows defining the neighbors of focusing locations. In order eliminate the seasonal radiometric effects on TM data, an automated class labeling method is also attempted. Urban areas are also delineated automatically by defining the boundaries of the urban area. These procedures for urban change detection were implemented by the unified image computing methods proposed by the author, they can be automated in coherent and systematic ways, and it is anticipated to automate the whole procedures. The results of this analysis suggest that Tokyo metropolitan area was extended to the suburban areas along the new transportation networks and the high density area of Tokyo were also very much extended during the period between 1985 and 1995.

  • Photogrammetry is a current method of GIS data acquisition. However, as a matter of fact, a large manpower and expenditure for making detailed 3D spatial information is required especially in urban areas where various buildings exist. There are no photogrammetric systems which can automate a process of spatial information acquisition completely. On the other hand, LiDAR has high potential of automating 3D spatial data acquisition because it can directly measure 3D coordinates of objects, but it is rather difficult to recognize the object with only LiDAR data, for its low resolution at this moment. With this background, we believe that it is very advantageous to integrate LiDAR data and stereo CCD images for more efficient and automated acquisition of the 3D spatial data with higher resolution. In this research, the automatic urban object recognition methodology was proposed by integrating ultra highresolution stereo images and LiDAR data. Moreover, a method to enable more reliable and detailed stereo matching method for CCD images was examined by using LiDAR data as an initial 3D data to determine the search range and to detect possibility of occlusions. Finally, intellectual DSMs, which were identified urban features with high resolution, were generated with high speed processing.

  • In the urban and rural complex, taxis move from downtown to rural areas for business purposes, and operate a combined surcharge system that preserves losses when they back to downtown. However, complaints related to the abolition of the compound surcharge system are increasing due to deformed operation that does not fit the purpose of the system. When the combinedsurcharge system is abolished, the taxi industry can be hit hard by the decrease in profits, and local governments are inevitable to support it. However, it is difficult to set the size of the subsidy considering the decrease of actual income. This study is to estimate the income reduction in the abolition of the combined surcharge system by scientific and objective method by analyzing the DTG data and the sales data collected from the digital driving recorder installed in the corporate taxi of the urban and rural complex area (e.g., Tongyeong city). This study is meaningful in that it used DTG data to solve the current issues in the real region and suggested the use of new DTG data.
