Purpose: To report on the current practices in breast magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) in Korea. Materials and Methods: We invited the 68 members of the Korean Society of Breast Imaging who were working in hospitals with available breast MRI to participate in a survey on how they performed and interpreted breast MRI. We asked one member from each hospital to respond to the survey. A total of 22 surveys from 22 hospitals were analyzed. Results: Out of 22 hospitals, 13 (59.1%) performed at least 300 breast MRI examinations per year, and 5 out of 22 (22.7%) performed > 1200 per year. Out of 31 machines, 14 (45.2%) machines were 1.5-T scanners and 17 (54.8%) were 3.0-T scanners. All hospitals did contrast-enhanced breast MRI. Full-time breast radiologists supervised the performance and interpreted breast MRI in 19 of 22 (86.4%) of hospitals. All hospitals used BI-RADS for MRI interpretation. For computer-aided detection (CAD), 13 (59.1%) hospitals sometimes or always use it and 9 (40.9%) hospitals did not use CAD. Two (9.1%) and twelve (54.5%) hospitals never and rarely interpreted breast MRI without correlating the mammography or ultrasound, respectively. The majority of respondents rarely (13/21, 61.9%) or never (5/21, 23.8%) interpreted breast MRI performed at an outside facility. Of the hospitals performing contrast-enhanced examinations, 15 of 22 (68.2%) did not perform MRI-guided interventional procedures. Conclusion: Breast MRI is extensively performed in Korea. The indication and practical patterns are diverse. The information from this survey would provide the basis for the development of Korean breast MRI practice guidelines.
The purpose of this research is to evaluate the degree of transactions of the electronic commerce in the hospitals. We created well-organized questionnaire to achieve this goal. we did telephone interviews with the hospitals, and then we reached out to the hospitals by e-mail and postal mail. We interviewed 311 hospitals, and 104 hospitals participated in this study. We conducted cross tabulations. The results are following : Among the subjects, male was 77.9%(81) and female was 22.1%(23). 51.0% of the hospitals used electronic commerce in their work purpose. The proportion of the hospitals that started their electronic commerce before 2000 years was 30.2% and after 2000 years was 69.8%. In the major electronic commerce service providers, 30.4% of the hospitals had their contract with auction, 18.4% of the hospitals had their contract with public procurement services. which is running by Korean government, and 11.8% were with EZmedicom and 10.8% were working with Carecamp. Through electronic commerce, the most high usage was office supplies 41.0% and the send area was medical supplies 11.2%. The results of this study suggest that electronic commerce in health care field is a very new area compared to other industries. There may be lots of barriers in the aspects of a way of working and norms of health care field. Electronic commerce system and contracts with their electronic commerce service providing partners.
This study compares the degree of satisfaction and the causes of selecting facilities for stroke patients in the senior specialized hospitals and other senior care facilities. The research results are followed. First, The patients who held the level of senior long-term care used senior specialized hospitals, while the patients who had the level of 2 or 3 degree used senior care facilities. The patients helped by cooperative care service used senior care facilities, and the patients helped by private service or family service used senior specialized hospitals. Second, The patients in senior specialized hospitals had affirmative attitude for their service system, while the patients in senior care facilities preferred their various service systems. In the satisfaction of the facilities, the patients in senior care facilities felt more satisfaction to staff, environment, service, and other factors than the patients in hospitals did. Third, in the result of logistic analysis, the patients had an affirmative attitude in case that they had spouse, experience of senior specialized hospitals or senior care facilities, without senior long-term care insurance. They also valued the service standard and the staff quality. As this study points out, the overall preference is higher in the senior care facilities. So, the stroke patients recognized the new role between the hospitals and the facilities after the establishment of long-term senior medicare system. This research had some limitation for the research areas and numbers. So the data analysis for the types of facility and the responses may not be generalized. However, the standard of choosing facility and satisfaction will be a guideline for establishing a new future role between hospitals and facilities. This result will be used as a basic data for the renovation of long-term senior medicare insurance.

The purpose of this study was to classify the internal members of nursing hospitals and Western hospitals that received the certification system of medical institutions, and to examine the effect of certification on member satisfaction, job stress, hospital operation effect, and improvement of medical services. In nursing hospitals, the certification system was higher in member satisfaction, hospital operation effect, and medical service effect than in Western hospitals, and members of Western hospitals were higher in job stress. In both nursing hospitals and Western hospitals, the satisfaction of members, hospital operation effect, and medical service effect according to certification showed positive (+) results. It is believed that the effect of the certification system has been empirically high in nursing hospitals as mandatory certification from 2013. Therefore, this study aims to contribute to the efficiency of hospital management and improvement of patient satisfaction through continuous quality management of medical care by analyzing the effect of certification system on medical service improvement.
The purpose of this study was to provide basic materials needed to enhance quality of organizational life by identifying the improvements of labor union management in the perspective of hospital organization management. Materials were collected from administrators, nurses and medical technicians in target hospitals from March 3 to March 3 to March 30, 2010 through survey questionnaires. The main results of this study were as follows: 1. The commitment level of the subjects according to their satisfaction was higher when the administrators both in Private hospitals and Public hospitals were not satisfied in their works. 2. The commitment level of the subjects according to the subjects' job dedication level was higher those who had higher emotional attachment to their job in all vocations in both Private hospitals and Public hospitals. 3. The commitment level of the subjects according to the subjects' labor union involvement was higher in those who had higher satisfaction in labor union and perceived their colleagues' attitudes more positively in all vocations in both Private Hospitals and Public Hospitals. 4. From the results of multiple regression analysis to identify major influencing factors of labor union commitment level, In Private hospital employees, those who had senior officer posts in labor union and higher normative commitment showed higher commitment union. Therefore hospital managers should have democratic and flexible attitudes toward labor union. Additionally, as colleagues attitudes is important determinant in union commitment, hospital managers should have countermeasures to enhance the work atmosphere of hospital employees.
