  • Recently, as the use of the Internet and the Web becomes universal, there has been a great deal of efforts to use it for education among educators throughout the world. The advantage of a Web-based lecture is that people can take it anywhere at a low cost anytime. The demand for learning java programming using the Web is increasing. Accordingly, a number of Web-based Java programming course contents have developed and used. Problems with existing contents are that materials about how to program are not sufficient and the presentation of the lecture is most often separated from the programming environment. In this paper, we present a methodology for developing course contents of Java programming to solve these problems and develop them using it. Then we report the evaluation result of course contents by students who took a Web-based lecture using them.

  • On-Line Lectures are becoming more common due to the MOOK service and the expansion of national policy in Korea. Especially, It is being changed to new remote mixed style from traditional lecture in universities. We propose and implement a remote contents making tool with audio synchronization function based on more with less resources. To implement our proposed algorithm, we design an interactive interface to assign multiple cutting intervals and convert an input video to print a new result. In experimental, we can confirm our algorithm works properly with average performance value 9.3% cpu share ratio and 87mega byte ram usage(CPU 2.60GHz, 820*600 Area).

  • In many existing studies, the analyses on the application and effect of the project-based learning model (PBL), a student-centered teaching and learning strategy, have been emphasized and carried out in various majors and courses. This case study analyzes the effects of applying a project-based learning model to the engineering accounting course for engineering students in 2021 in the context of the COVID-19 pandemic, compared with the offline course in 2019 and the simple online course in 2020. Project team consisting of 2-3 students carried out online collaborative learning activities for solving open-ended problems through the 5-step PBL procedure including presenting the final result. Except for this online PBL application in 2021, textbooks, lecture contents, assignments, and tests were implemented the same for each semester for three years. Through lecture evaluation and survey by students, the online PBL application semester showed higher effects in inducing student-centered learning, lecture satisfaction, and student competency improvement compared to the non-applying semesters, further, it was evaluated that the online PBL application to the course and evaluation method were more appropriate than other semesters. It is expected that the online PBL method and operation procedure applied in this study can be utilized as a best practice for the design and operation of various online courses for student-centered collaborative learning activities and educational effects.

  • The purpose of this study was to analyze the types of lesson and its effectiveness with digital textbook. To address those goals, we had observed five classes of the primary school, which designated as a research pilot school for digital textbook. Based on the result of observation, 3 types of lesson with digital textbook were categorized: Teacher-directed lecture (type 1), Blended learning (type 2), and Flipped learning (type 3). Depending on the type of lesson was analyzed the positive and negative effectiveness by means of matrix analysis method. As a result, in Teacher-directed lecture (type 1), there was found out the participation of the lesson in atmosphere of stable and comfortable as positive experience, also digital textbook operating immature and boring as negative experience. In Blended learning (type 2), there was found out the fun by sharing the product and peer feedback, and flow by learning transfer as positive experience, also digital textbook operating immature and understanding the difference between assignments as negative experience. In Flipped learning (type 3), there was shown the positive attitude and ownership in the lesson as positive experience, also distracting and boring in the lesson when learner was excluded in participation as negative experience. Based on the results, we suggested some strategies for improving positive experience and protecting negative experience in the lesson with using digital textbook.

  • In recent years, there has been an argument that the academic performance of college students taught in English might be lower than those exposed in Korean under ceteris paribus environment. This paper examined the validity of this argument against the effectiveness of teaching-in-English, using student data from investment courses at a leading national university in Busan. Of a total of 165 students, 77 students took the teaching-in-Korean class (cohort A), whereas 88 students registered for the teaching-in-English class (cohort B). The findings did not support the popular argument. There was no significant difference in academic performance between student cohort A and student cohort B.

  • This study was performed to explore the difference in communication anxiety and class satisfaction after taking the traditional lecture and flipped learning lecture. Fifty four nursing students participated in this study. The study design was one group pretest-posttest design. 4 weeks traditional lecture and 4 weeks flipped learning lecture was applied. Flipped learning was ineffective in improving communication anxiety (t=1.85, p=.069) of nursing students. But emotional state variables and activity variables in the emotional domain were significantly higher after taking the flipped learning lecture(t=-3.80, p=.000; t=-3.35, p=.001). In addition, all of the variables were higher in the flipped learning based team, in the control of the class activities (t=-3.07, p=.003), personal ability (t=-2.48, p=.016), and class participation(t=-3.25, p=.002). Flipped learning is therefore considered to be effective in training nursing students. This study suggested to investigate the effectiveness of flipped learning and learners' satisfaction.
