An Analysis of the Educational Needs of Female University Students on the Informal Programs of Core Technology in the Fourth Industry (4차 산업 핵심기술 비교과 프로그램에 대한 여대생의 교육요구 분석)

  • The aim of this study was to establish an university informal program roadmap, and also to draw up operational plans for human resources with core technologies of the fourth industry. To do this, first we derived university informal education program draft through experts workshop, then conducted a survey regarding the female university students' perception of educational programs and their educational needs on the 4th core technology matching programs. The following main results were obtained : First, students preferred 'hands-on training' by professionals and they wanted to be trained during summer or winter holidays or the night time during semesters. Also, they thought two hours of training per session was appropriate. Regarding these results, there was no difference depending on the majors. Second, while students had highly preferred for the courses related to data analysis, Arduino programing and VR(virtual reality), those related to 3D printing modeling were less preferred. Depending on the majors, preferred courses had different priorities, but non-preferred courses were similar regardless of majors. Based on these results, the university informal curriculum model and the operation plans for the core technologies of the fourth industry were proposed.

  • This thesis is a study to develop the tentative objectives and present the professional and courses for the nursing college. The conclusions conducted by the purpose of this study are as follows. First, on the basis of the concepts of the nursing and the view-points of nursing education, the tentative goals for the nursing education are set up as follows. 1. To understand human being's life, dignity and their physical, mental, and social aspects. 2. To understand the basic concepts and the principles of human sciences, social sciences, natural sciences, and medical sciences. To apply their knowledges to nursing practices. 3. To diagnose and assess the problems of individual, family and community in terms of nursing practice. To develop the ability of planning, negotiation, management, and evaluation for the nursing education. 4. To develop appropriate knowlege, attitudes, and skills to promote the clients' health and treat their illness. 5. To accomplish all tasks effectively as a trained and qualified professional nurse through the endless studies. Second, the nursing areas and courses for the nursing college in terms of validity, Importance, continuity, relationship, utility and appropriateness are listed as follows. 1. Fundamental courses of the nursing. (1) General courses communication human development, behavior science, biochemistry, microbiology, pharmacology (2) Medical courses physiology, anatomy, pathology 2. Basic courses in nursing (1) General nursing fundamental nursing, introduction of nursing, nursing history, nursing process, health education, health assessment, philosophy of nursing, nursing psychology (2) Maternal-Child nursing child-health nursing, child-disease nursing, adolescent nursing, obstetric nursing, post-partum nursing, gyneco-pathy nursing (3) Adult nursing adult health nursing, adult disease nursing I(fluid & electrotonic, shock, anoxia disorder), adult disease nursing II(nutrition-excretion disorder, sexual dysfunction), adult disease nursing III(sense-, control-, activity-, sleep disorder), adult disease nursing IV(operation, rehabilitation, emergency), gerontological nursing (4) Psychiatric nursing child-adolescent psychiatric nursing, adult psychiatric nursing, gerontological psychiatric nursing, spiritual nursing (5) Community health nursing community nursing, school nursing, industrial nursing, family nursing, nursing epidemiology 3. To control the level of the objectives according to the rule 'the higher the level of a content, the lower the level of a verb or a gerund'. This rule applies in the reverse, as well. 4. To decide the number of the objectives in each course on the basis of the numbers of the syllabus and the level of its comprehensiveness, 5. To correct, supplement or eliminate the stated objectives by a professional or professional groups in that area.

Exploration of Engineering Professors' Teaching Orientations toward Engineering Courses (공과대학 교수학습의 질적 향상을 위한 공학 교수자의 교수지향 탐색)

  • Teaching orientations represent teachers' general way of conceptualizing their teaching. The orientations are regarded as a very important factor in developing teachers' pedagogical content knowledge because they often guide their instructional decisions such as the selection of contents and teaching strategies, the use of curricula materials, and the evaluation of learning. Thus, understanding teachers' orientations can provide meaningful suggestions to understand their instructional approaches and furthermore to enhance the quality of engineering education in college. The research question for this present study was what kinds of teaching orientations engineering professors possessed in teaching engineering courses and how the orientations were represented in their teaching. Six engineering professors, particularly interested in instructional approaches, participated in the research. The data sources included in-depth interviews with individual professors, classroom observations with field notes, and related documents. In results, four teaching orientations toward engineering courses were identified: 1) expert knowledge in engineering, 2) engineering practice, 3) social practice, and 4) interdisciplinary design. Individual professors had between one to three different teaching orientations. Even though the professors had similar orientations but their instructional strategies somewhat varied based on the disciplines.

  • Five and above engineering courses were selected from each of exemplary international MOOC platforms, and common e-learning design strategies were drawn out through observing the courses and analyzing the course elements. By finding out both macro(platform) and micro(content) levels of designing strategies, this study suggests the direction for designing engineering courses incorporating e-learning nationally. The major trend of current e-learning design is to provide bite-sized contents rapidly created and to deploy instructional strategies for promoting student participation in learning and diverse and contextualized learning experiences.

A Case Study on How to Develop a Competency-Based General Education Curriculum (H대학교 교양이수체계 개편 사례 연구)

  • With the advent of the Fourth Industrial Revolution, the liberal arts education of universities has been called for fundamental innovation in its content and methods. H university has continuously made efforts to improve its general education curriculum with the goal of satisfying students' needs as well as the demands of the times. Its efforts can be summarized as the harmonization of competency-based education and the traditional liberal arts education. In more detail, it has tried to meet the demands of Ministry of Education which requests each university to establish its general education system focusing on key competencies. Simultaneously, it also radically changed its education system based on the guidelines of the Korea National Institute for General Education(KONIGE). The starting point of those changes was the basic consulting by KONIGE in 2017. According to the consulting report, H university introduced comprehensive and overall revision of its liberal arts education curriculum, increasing its liberal arts credit requirements from 22 to 28 credits in 2019. It has also reorganized and reclassified its liberal arts courses by introducing distributive elective classes. In 2020, in accordance with the guidelines of the Ministry of Education, H university altered its curriculum once more in order to establish a competency-based general education curriculum. Under the new curriculum, all requirement subjects are completely matched with key competencies of H university. It also includes newly opened courses and subject areas such as "Social Service" and "Global Citizenship." Through these changes, H university hopes that its general education contributes to fostering students equipped with key competencies, who can face actively this challenging period.

  • In this paper, we try to find improved solutions for problems with general mathematics education courses. We suggest effective management strategies and teaching-learning methods by level-based classes with utilizing students survey and scholastic level assessment, and management of Mathematics Cafe and its homepage, and also setting example classes for assignments on the Webwork system and evaluating the class.

Scientific Talent Education in Japan (일본의 과학 영재교육)

  • The purpose of this study is to show the way of teaching the scietific talent in Japan. This study was conducted only by the printed matters. The results of the investigation are as follows: 1. Japan at present has neither systems nor laws for offical scientific talent education. 2. Japanese's scientific knowledge and way of rational thinking had been widespread among the general public by elementary education from one hundred ten years or so ago. 3. In addition, the instrument subjects such as foreign language and mathematics were well educated in the elementary and secondary school level and the preparatory courses of college. 4. Especially, the third and the first preparatory courses of a college(Daisan Koukou and Daiitchi Koukou) and Kyoto University have contributed greatly to the cultivation of liberal spirit in education, which turned out to be one of the essential elements for scientific talent education.

Oral Cancer Early Detection - a Pressing Need for Continuing Education in Jordan

  • Aims: To identify deficiencies in the knowledge of general medical (GMPs) and dental practitioners (GDPs) regarding early detection of oral cancer, to compare differences between subgroups, and to identify educational needs for continuing education courses on this subject. Materials and Methods: 165 GDPs and 165 GMPs were directly interviewed to assess their knowledge about oral cancer using a pre-tested survey. Knowledge scores were generated from correct responses of participants to factual questions about oral cancer. Results: Few participants (15.2% of GDPs and 12.8% of GMPs) reported that they attended any continuing education courses on oral cancer during their professional career. Most participants (81.6% of GDPs and 86.3% of GMPs) admitted that their knowledge about oral cancer was not up to date and that they would need to attend continuing education courses on oral cancer if available. A few significant differences were identified between groups regarding knowledge about risk factors, clinical presentations and diagnostic techniques but the overall knowledge scores showed no significant difference between GMPs and GDPs. Conclusions: The present study identified several deficiencies in the knowledge of GMPs and GDPs regarding risk factors, clinical presentations, and diagnostic techniques of oral cancer. Interventions to correct these defects through properly designed continuing education courses are required.

A study on the development of fashion illustration course using contour drawing (콘투어 드로잉을 활용한 패션 일러스트레이션 교과 개발 연구)

  • This study has established a fashion illustration education plan using the contour drawing that fosters observational ability and enables creative drawing. This study developed two illustration curriculum proposals consisting of 15 weeks, combining literature and case studies. The researchers organized a step-by-step teaching plan that utilizes contour drawing according to the three stages of fashion illustration classes: foundation courses, general courses, and intensive courses. When the contour drawing is used at the beginning stage of the foundation courses of fashion illustration, it can be used as a technique to reduce the fear of students about practical skills, induce interest in illustration, and cultivate observation ability about objects. In general process, it is combined with various tools and coloring materials to strengthen expression power, and it is possible to produce detailed expressions and illustrations about human body and clothing. In intensive courses, it is expanded to the production of creative works with new aesthetics through digital techniques and mixed materials. As such, the contour drawing is expanded in various ways according to the learning contents and goals of each step, and is flexibly adjusted according to the learning content. Contour drawing has the effect of acquiring observation and expression ability, and it is analyzed as a technique that enables the production of creative illustration of students.

  • In a future society where cutting-edge science technology such as artificial intelligence becomes commonplace, the demand for talented people with basic knowledge of mathematics and science is expected to increase continuously, and the educational infrastructure suitable for the characteristics of future generations is still insufficient. In particular, in the case of students taking convergence courses including practical training, there was a problem in communication with the instructor. In this study, we looked at the current status of distance learning at domestic universities that came suddenly due to the global pandemic of COVID-19. In addition, a case study of the use of technology was conducted to facilitate the interaction between instructors and learners through case analysis of distance classes in convergence subjects. Therefore, this study aims to introduce the case of developing lecture contents for smooth convergence education in a non-face-to-face educational environment targeting the developed AI convergence courses and applying them to the education of enrolled students.
